  1. This is huge!! I get so excited about projects that are right along major corridors because no matter what pops up here, its for sure going to have a massive presence.
  2. Wow, the Heights really knows how to keep an aesthetic going. These projects really do fit in with the neighborhood's style. Its almost like a city outside of Houston.
  3. Its actually a lot nicer than the renderings, which is a nice surprise! I like the fact that it also sits right across from another multi-story dealership.
  4. Oh cry me a river, you're on on architecture forum. Stop acting like you single handedly built this building with your bare hands. The "well since you think you can do it better, why don't you" argument is so corny and childish, what are you 16? Maybe try putting your 2 brain cells to work together to understand that people are going to have a different opinion than you :) lol? lol? lol??
  5. lol let me share some examples of what could have been implemented since a lot of you seem very PRO-whatever is going on with this building. There's legit a thousand ways they could have incorporated the trail into the development. Im not sure why being affordable housing or a $20 sandwich, make this vision harder. Is that the standard we set for affordable housing? Being a bare minimum building? This is an architectural forum, criticism will be provided when necessary :)
  6. I mean.... 2 pictures before my post, you can clearly see they completely fenced off the east side and completely gated the south side; both of which faces the trail. So yes that portion is done.
  7. Omg you found a menu for a place that hasn't even been built yet?! 😒, you do realize the whole point of the trail isn't just about overpriced sandwiches.... Its about making it easier for people to be active and enjoying the recreational spaces we have...."lol"
  8. I wish they found a way to incorporate the trail into the development. That would have been such a nice amenity to add, "connection to the Buffalo Bayou Trail," but I'm starting to realize a lot of these developers are dumb. Like... this building is a 15 min walk on the trail right into the East River Development, thats a huge plus. The Landscape better be bomb to make up for that.
  9. Just a guess, but maybe something related to chinatown? Im actually surprised Fiesta lasted this long, not saying it doesn't get business (which it does), but almost every block on this street has been redeveloped into Chinatown. Old strip centers on Bellaire either get torn down or completely redeveloped into multiple oriental-based shops. Land owner probably feel it will be more profitable to redevelop the shopping center, targeting Chinatown's demographic. This is just my opinion :)
  10. The "NEW" distribution center isn't relevant to the thread or my post lol. We're discussing how the "OLD" distribution center can be redeveloped into something thats more convenient to the neighborhood. Im not sure if your question is sarcastic? Contributing to the neighborhood other than providing jobs.....obviously there are numerous examples; a gym, a grocery store, restaurants, an urgent care, a library, etc. Anything that goes in here will have "jobs." The whole East End thread is about industrial space being converted into something more dense and convenient to the neighborhood....
  11. https://communityimpact.com/houston/tomball-magnolia/city-county/2022/02/08/macys-to-move-distribution-center-from-houston-to-tomball/ It looks like the Macy's distribution center will move from the East End to Tomball. I actually think this will be great for the area because their current East End location is not very inviting or contributing anything to the neighborhood. Its basically just windowless warehouses next to a yard of 18 wheelers surrounding neighborhoods. I think given its location and the lot size, theres a potential to have something really big here!
  12. Wow this is an expensive project for a restaurant/ lounge. It looks like the place is going to be NICE
  13. I was driving down 59 west yesterday (coming from the east) and at the elevated portion of 59 in Midtown/ Museum district, the staircase pillars to that building are VERY visible, meaning that building will also have a massive presence. Unfortunately, idk how nice that building will be :/
  14. I wish they put out an actual rendering. It's hard to visualize what the 10 story building will look like since most of their buildings are only a couple of floors. This is such a highly visible lot from i59, I hope they give us something nice to look at while we're stuck in traffic lol.
  15. I'm most excited for these updates on the plaza. It semi looks like Uptown park! Apparently, they're planning on starting this year.
  16. https://www.houston.org/news/quality-life-post-houston-aims-bring-global-experience-downtown "POST Houston isn’t finished yet. Liu said the goal is to connect the rooftop park, which is open to the public, to Buffalo Bayou. Residential and office space is also not out of the question.." I wonder how thats going to work, but based off of the job they did inside, I'm sure they will execute this well. Glad they don't plan on stopping!
  17. It's the little projects like these that makes the city a whole lot nicer. This site went from a parking lot to part of the trail and now this memorial will be another addition to make the trail even more cohesive and inviting. Hate that the jails and Sheriffs office sits on probably the best lots in Houston, but it is what it is :)
  18. A DO school IS a medical school lol it's not an opinion, the only difference is how they approach treating patients.
  19. I had my cousin from NYC visit this weekend, I showed her discovery green and downtown and she thought it had a lot of remnants of Central Park and their city, I said yeah but cleaner :)
  20. Curious, but what caused the east side to start getting more attention than before (besides being closer to downtown), did the refinery situation change since the early 1900s? Like did a lot of them move further east, shut down, or something else happen to where people don't mind living east as much? Genuinely curious. I'm from the west side of town but I feel like the east side has so much potential to look nicer than the west. Especially since it's a lot closer to the bay/ waterfront.
  21. Please let it will be as nice as their Montrose location, this part of Westheimer needs some serious love.
  22. IMO this is going to have the nicest views of downtown. A lot more buildings are visible on this side compared to the west side.
  23. This will be on the second floor of the building according to a recent LoopNet listing. I know some nearby residents won't be too happy about a night club moving in. Maybe the owner will renovate the exterior of the building now that its fully leased 🤷‍♂️
