The only thing they really have to do now is some finishing up on the corner of fannin and bell, and finish putting in the sidewalks. They put in the sidewalk along Leeland and tore it up and put a new one in, but it leads to a pile of dirt at the corner

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.

Looks like it's not going to be quite 21 stories http://swamplot.com/expectations-lowered-another-notch-for-rising-hotel-alessandras-floor-count/2016-02-24/ -

Considering they got a 2000 year head start on building roads I'd say being only 100 years behind isn't that bad

"Bedroom/Dining" - this actually kind of makes sense. Usually when you're by yourself you don't eat the table all the time - especially if there's a breakfast bar in the kitchen. So the bedroom can stay a bedroom most of the time except when you want to have a fancy dinner. If I had this layout I'd have a little bistro set outside on the balcony for eating at a table. Still seems like a little much for a 1 BR - but there is nothing like this price in downtown or midtown

Stowers Building To Become An Aloft Hotel At 820 Fannin St.

I don't understand where this sign would be - I mean there's no set back from the street at all for this building -
Chateau Ten: Condominiums At 2506 Shakespeare St.
cspwal replied to Urbannizer's topic in Houston Enclaves
The article mentions it being in West Universty much more than the specific street; it could be that they are using a street that changes names when it crosses Kirby into West U to keep the location a secret for now - probably don't want to get into a bidding war. Maybe one of our plat noticers will notice a plat. Does West U have zoning? We could also use that to find where they just rezoned to allow a midrise- 14 replies

Website has been updated http://www.block334.com/ Rents starting at $1495 w/ 1 month free. A little more than I was expecting considering it's not a hi-rise like it's neighbors, but there are also no studio floor plans Edit: Just noticed the interior shots aren't even of the right apartment building - it looks to be Broadstone Midtown

I like it better than an address, and I'm kind of glad they left a name available to someone else: "The Lofts on Leeland"

Improvements Coming To Allen Parkway
cspwal replied to Urbannizer's topic in Traffic and Transportation
The construction barriers make me think of a race track... -
It might have been actually structurally unsound - not "structurally unsound" like the 507/509 Louisiana buildings, but actual bricks and tiles falling on parked cars. Owner probably got fed up with it and wants to just have a normal parking lot.

I wonder what the breakdown is between going out of state for public versus private schools
-
Walked by that building a few times. It was interesting how there was a roof and exterior walls, but nothing else. I think it was used for covered parking, though I wouldn't want to park there...
-
I actually didn't realize there was parking on top of that building...

Not sure, but I think it means that Saudi Arabia lost the price war

It's renaming a high school already called "Reagan" though. Half the parents probably already think it is named for Ronald Reagan

Eighteen25 Downtown: Multifamily At 1825 San Jacinto St.
cspwal replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
They're in store selection has really gone down hill even in the last year. They say they can order anything if I find it, but so can I using Amazon. Going to a book store is all about trying to find a book And I am talking about trying to find engineering books. There is absolutely nothing that isn't a technical book- 285 replies

A deck park over the 59 trench between midtown and 3rd ward would be nice, but unlikely with the long term plan of re-doing the whole thing
-
The shouldn't pave that corner - leave it as a tiny pocket park. The corner of a parking lot is always the most awkward anyway
