  1. They won't be empty if Metro finds a way to expand westward from that area. Metro didn't build those two lines in that location for nothing. They def plan on expanding somehow from that point in the future.
  2. Yeah because they were supposed to make an announcement a couple of months ago and still nothing.
  3. I doubt the hospital will close. The lack of funding is a hard blow but it seems they are going to find a way to keep the hospital operating. It's too important to the immediate area to close. If it were to close, I think another hospital would take over.
  4. Weren't we told that there were half a dozen retailers willing to be an anchor for this retail district? So what's up with that, who are the possible retailers?
  5. Yeah I was about to say that as well... and besides that, so much focus is on one damn block yet we got half of the 3rd Ward, 5th Ward, and other areas that aren't getting any better and I don't see the public outcry there. My point is that this is one block that seems to stand out in Midtown, but sooner or later it will change and clean up as the city grows and gentrifies, everyone chill out already.
  6. I walk that area every day, an it's not as bad as you claim. Not fooling myself one bit but my God get a grip. You act like every city block should be a nice clean suburb when in reality this is nothing compared to parts of Chicago or NYC.
  7. Hahaha nice response... well there has to be some solution to this... maybe designated left and right turns is necessary to either side of the track
  8. I get the whole right of way thing but in reality the train has the right of way the majority of the route. Why would your out of town friend be upset? We aren't the only city set up this way
  9. Its really not that bad. Its a typical inner city block near a bus station.
  10. Last thing I heard was Campo was a go for this project. That's why he put the downtown project on hold until this one was complete and the economy got better.
  11. Very good point. Ultimately these school upgrades benefit the kids going there. But on the flip side as a development I hope it gets built for the sake of downtown. If Urbannizer is correct, it's a 4th quarter start, so hopefully we see some dirt move soon.
  12. Well they're def lame now since they don't even operate well. Who is in charge of those things, the Downtown Management District?
  13. Ok well let me use a different choice of words.... This school was clearly designed to be noticed. It isn't a typical development for any school. Now while it's no Juilliard, it's def for some of the most talented, most creative young people in the city. So yeah I didn't read it from some article, it's an opinion. I think if any school is going to gain attention for being built, it's this one. It's mean't to stand out.
  14. What? Anyways, no my point is it would be ridiculous to think politics don't play in to this, and if they're going to use any money it will be on this project for sure.
  15. Why not just slow down a bit and yield to the train?
  16. I honestly believe that HISD sees this school as a crown jewel for the district. Didn't they finally find a contractor?
  17. Anyone who came to Houston for the Super Bowl in 2004 aren't gonna recognize the city.
  18. Ok I know this picture sucks. I was having to rush to work across the street this morning. Anyways, if you look closely you can see a white truck and a ladder posted up against the abandoned restaurant building. I have no clue what's going on, but I saw 2 business men go inside a few weeks ago.
