Sorry, was trying to post a link to this photo from the Houston Instagram...but the code didn't copy.... https://www.instagram.com/houston_insta/7 points

Finally got around to taking the drone around the site. Sorry the video is so short. I know the developers transferred ownership of the streets to the city, but security guy said I was trespassing on private property. Didn't want to piss him off because this is a fun place to fly.5 points

This whole document here is an interesting look-through, if you're into museums and themed entertainment as I am: http://www.teaconnect.org/images/files/TEA_160_611852_160525.pdf (In particular, see pages 72-73 for Houston Museum of Natural Science standing, as of the end of 2015.)2 points

I was confused. Ahh. I got the wrong unit! It's not "Willowick Place at River Oaks".2 points

Wrong building. The suicide jump was at The Willowick. The River Oaks isn't open yet.2 points

Another piece of that puzzle is the existing Chronicle garage (across Prairie from 717 Texas) that Hines purchased along with the Chronicle building block. It could get garagier is needs arose.2 points

This building is in the local media today. I'd rather not say why1 point
-
Per the previous article, I was worried the new building was to sit atop an above-ground garage. What a relief. First look: Next phase of Old Parkland campus will add an office building Project Location1 point

rode my bike from my galleria condo to discovery green saturday (thats HUGE for me btw seeing that i ride my bike once a month...to a park just to lay down in the grass haha! )...anyway...saw that Bud's Pitmaster BBQ still has its Super Bowl Preview signs up with no work going on inside and looks like nothing has been done since it was open for those "Preview" nights...any word on what's going on with that place? and ps...with the Bassmaster Classic Outdoor Expo going on with other events as well it seemed, it was so nice to see everyone out and about enjoying Discovery Green and Avenida Houston! Because of my adventure i also got to finally experience Buffalo Bayou paths on my bike which was so awesome...hope to do that alot more! Love our city so darn much!1 point

A bit harsh! It's better than 1000 Main or Calpine Center, which are squattier, more budget-minded towers with a lower degree of finish and detail. I would compare it more with some of the early Houston Center towers, 1100 Louisiana, or Tenneco. Tenneco might be the best comparison since it was also designed by a respected national firm in the business of making crisp, understated towers that stand the test of time.1 point

Sears exists more as a real estate holding company that happens to have a lot of empty Sears and Kmart stores occupying the real estate. I don't think they are really that interested in operating retail and much as unloading the real estate. At some point the Midtown location will be sold for some other use.1 point

45 will be elevated the entire length of its alignment with i10. It still has to fly over the elysian viaduct, and a railroad track. So basically, the areas of i10 that are currently below grade will have a freeway that is elevated right next to it. and areas of i10 that are currently elevated will have that same new freeway even more elevated right next to it. but hey, they're all poor people and minorities that live north of there, and there's trains and bayous anyway, so no worries, right, at least we're removing the elevated freeway from the affluent predominantly white area so they will feel safer walking around.1 point

So a downsize from 423,000 to between 200,000 and 250,000. Not exactly a homerun for downtown. They would likely be paying higher rent since it's new construction, although with worse views, and a less "signature" building to put their name on, whatever that's worth to them (they do seem to like having signature buildings). Agreed with nate, it's very Woodlands Waterway. Better than what's there now though.1 point

This is an exciting tower. It'll be a subtle addition to the skyline but will stick up just high enough to be seen as you round the western side of downtown on the Pierce. Hopefully we get some nice lighting features on the top or down the sides.1 point
