Howard Huge
not happening anymore via Eater Houston... El Tiempo wont close. which means this apartment building wont go up... kind of a weird way to find out about it.Yea thats not what the article said at all, all it said was that this is a RUMOR, and when Laurenzo of El Tiempo was questioned about it he said all he has heard is that the apartments may be delayed by a few months.
Howard Huge
A call to El Tiempo 1308 Cantina confirmed the tip received through our tipline: the restaurant will remain open at its current address but Laurenzo says otherwise. "Not sure that possibility is being discussed. [it's] not at all a verified fact yet, just a rumor," according to Laurenzo who also disclosed through an email statement that the "apartment project may be delayed a few months or longer." Sounds like more sensationalist journalism, making something out of nothing. The article basically says that this "may or may not" happen based on info received from a "tipster". Crack journalism right there guys. Edited February 17, 2015 by Howard Huge

Howard Huge
Or maybe we just wait until there is an official announcement? Crazy idea I know.....Well if thats the way they publish headlines, I could think of some hilarious stories that could be made into headlines just by calling in as an anonymous "tipster". corbs315
So I used to live in the duplex 5 houses south of 1308 and left in October 2014 when the owners told me they were selling to Sunrise soon. So I always check the demo report for an update on it. Anyway, today's has the house right next door to 1308 being demoed (1317 Marconi), which of course HCAD has as owned by Sunrise. Maybe this thing's a-brewin? Edited April 13, 2016 by corbs315

Urbannizer
https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2018/07/20/apartments-slated-for-el-tiempo-montrose-site-to.html It’ll take four to six weeks to tear down El Tiempo's 1308 Cantina and other properties near the corner of Montrose and Clay to clear the way for The Core Montrose, a new apartment building slated to break ground in October, according to the developer behind the project. First, utilities need to be disconnected and land replatted. El Tiempo announced this week that the last day of service will be July 31. Carleton expects demolition work to begin in August after tenants vacate the land. The developer is waiting for permits from the city and for financing terms to be finalized, she said. The 224-unit, eight-story building designed by Houston-based W Partnership will be ready to lease up in 2020. Houston-based Arch-Con Construction is the general contractor. Units will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments and likely some townhomes as well.
