Biked past the MKT last weekend, loved the connectivity with the Heights Trail. There was some event going on there, looks like a fantastic place to hang out.

I expect this place to get tons of traffic from cyclists. This is why we need more developments that aren’t solely car focused. I wonder how many businesses in this city lose possible income because they don’t provide other modes of accessibility like walking and biking.

I would poke fun at "Omaha based sushi restaurant" had I never been to Omaha.  But there is a very nice little restaurant scene in Omaha.

Anyway, MKT is adding a sushi restaurant.  Now, no one can complain about not having sushi in the Heights.

Anybody looked at the location tab of their website?: https://www.themkt.com/location

Has a 360 degree interactive panorama of the development and the areas around it. It's honestly cool as hell.

Also looks like there's still more phases to this development

I'm extremely excited to see what they do with those older buildings in phase 2, they could really be something incredible. I also think it would be awesome if eventually they build some small pavilion or market style buildings in the current parking lots and rely just on garage parking and the trail connection. This spot is already great but densifying to make it more intimate would take it completely over the top.

I have been to Blue many times, it has a great ambiance and fun atmosphere.  I'm excited about this and will definitely frequent this location often. Great news.

Houston fashion designer Chloe Dao to open mini studio in M-K-T mixed-use project

https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2021/02/25/chloe-dao-m-k-t.html

Quote

Fashion designer and entrepreneur Chloe Dao, a Houston native and the winner of "Project Runway" season 2, is expanding to the Heights.

Dao will open a mini design studio in the M-K-T mixed-use redevelopment, according to a press release and the M-K-T website. The studio will feature a curated selection of cocktail and evening wear and will showcase the design process from idea to mood board to sketches to the final product. Dao’s Safely Sip masks — a style of face mask for drinking on the go — will also be available for purchase.

“Super excited to be a part of the M-K-T family surrounded by other female entrepreneurs like myself, which was the reason I was truly drawn to this location,” Dao said. “We all bring a different energy that creates great synergy among us that creates a great shopping experience for all.”

This is great news! She makes great masks

Jon Deal is renovating the warehouses to the southeast of the Standard apartments.  It is currently listed as industrial, but all the neighboring development might prompt some more retail friendly leasing.

Taft, an online retailer of European-inspired men's footwear founded by Kory and Mallory Stevens, opened a Houston store in M-K-T Heights at 600 N. Shepherd. The shoes, which feature bold designs with intricate and ornate patterns, are made in Portugal and Spain. Taft has other brick-and-mortar stores in New York and Dallas.

Oh my gosh I am so hyped. There’s a Blue in Dallas that we try to hit whenever we’re up there, really good sushi, fantastic selection of vegetarian/vegan sushi and other offerings if you’re about that, all around really good place to eat.

I went to the La La Land Cafe in Dallas last weekend, it will absolutely print money once it opens in M-K-T

I walked by Building 1 today and saw one of the corner spaces on the northwest corner of the building under work. It has what looks like a little to-go window. When searching for the La La Land Cafe on Google Maps, it seems to drop the pin right on this expected corner unit. Hoping to see this open soon as there is still no proper coffee shop in this development

Why is not having a coffee shop a problem? Coffee could disappear tomorrow and it would have no effect on me, other than all of the coffee addicts wandering around like zombies. Bwahahaha.

I know a lot of people that don't drink coffee but they do drink Cokes, MT Dew or energy drinks which have as much or more caffeine. I worked with guys who drank Bang all day long and couldn't make the day without them.
