Walked by the other day, and this has a much larger presence than I expected for a building that only really takes up ~1/4 of the block. One can never be too careful with RD, but I think this will turn out to be a nice addition to the area. Glad to hear it's selling well too, that hopefully means good news for more condo development downtown, since I doubt we'll be seeing too many more apartments get off the ground in the next couple of years.

Looks like they're not going to get it done in time. ESPN is moving their coverage downtown (to a parking lot!) http://www.chron.com/sports/superbowl/article/ESPN-moving-Super-Bowl-set-downtown-10863962.php

First of all, Katy ISD is one of the 10 largest school districts in the state. But even if that weren't true, where in the world are you getting the idea that they are building 3 new football stadiums?? That's certainly not true. They're building a second one next to Rhodes Stadium that has been there since 1979.

Hate to say it, but this building is pretty ugly. I didn't have high hopes based on the renderings, but from Hines this is kind of disappointing. The grey brick especially looks bad from a distance. Oh well.

asubrt replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
Had some blue lighting on the exterior (kind of reminiscent of the Whitehall) this evening. -

Went for Houston Restaurant Week last year and really enjoyed it. Would definitely go back, but haven't had a chance yet. I love all of Hugo Ortega's restaurants, hopefully the rumors about him opening one in the Mariott Marquis are true. -
Hotel Granduca
asubrt replied to Montrose1100's topic in Houston Area Dining, Shopping and Entertainment
Hotel bars are awesome, but unfortunately tend to be pretty pricey. Maybe that's why they're less crowded. -
Is the office building/Phase IV still happening (the grassy area in that picture)? Guessing it's been postponed like most other stuff in this current economic environment, but I haven't heard anything one way or another.

I went yesterday... there were lots of people around 6 PM but it's a big space so it wasn't too packed. Apparently on Friday night they were so crowded it was one in one out. It's got a very long indoor bar area with TVs, then a smaller bar area at the back and a giant outside area where most people were because it was so nice outside. Should be a good addition to the area.

Any way it could be changed so clicking on threads in unread content could bring you to the most recent post or the first unread post instead of the beginning of the first page of the thread? It used to be like that but since the update it only takes you to the first page. Or maybe I'm dumb and am doing something wrong.

It's just one, and trust me, he is not representative of the rest of us. This forum as a whole really ought to stop acknowledging him, and maybe his incessant troll act will finally stop.

No pic unfortunately, but the office building (One Grove Street) has a blue lighting feature on the top of the southern side. Subtle, but nice.

Yeah I heard the same: was at Karbach this weekend and the waitress said Chocolate BBH on February 8. Asked about Vanilla BBH because I didn't get to try that one, and she said she wasn't sure but she thinks they'll probably rerelease it sometime in the future but no official plans currently.
