I was just thinking that we're due for a hindesky photo extravaganza. Thanks for all the great pics. I really like the way this one is turning out... RIP Foley's but this is a great addition to the area. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Wasn't there a rumor about a residential high-rise at this location awhile back? Maybe I'm confusing it with the Vantage just up Cambridge, but I could have sworn that there were plans to replace this Kroger with resi.

I happened to walk by a sign for what looks like a new restaurant/bar (the sign says "Southern Table & Bar) next door to Prohibition last night (corner of Main and Prairie) called The Moonshiners last night. I didn't see anything about it on here yet...

Land is cleared and they're working on pilings and such. Lots of portable cranes/pile drivers but no tower crane yet. Really not a whole lot to see yet in terms of actual building structure, it's mostly just dirt still at this point.

The Dallas one does. I haven't seen any other ones in person, but I'm assuming the downtown Houston one doesn't have it because of that stupid signage rule. Though Embassy Suites has finally put up signage and Hilton Americans has always had it so maybe that's changed, or doesn't apply to hotels.

Apparently they are much better with wood than concrete. That's a cool pic, being able to see the layout of the apartments on the parts that aren't covered yet.

Yup, I park there for work. If I get there late I have to park on the 14th (highest) floor, and it doesn't take long at all to get to the top, maybe 2-3 minutes at most including two gates (unless you get stuck behind a patient who stops at literally every spot looking for parking, which can take ages). But I imagine at 5 PM on a workday leaving this garage would be a disaster.

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.
asubrt replied to MontroseNeighborhoodCafe's topic in Downtown
Day-las Street it is. Does anyone else HATE how they pronounce it in New York? I always correct them when I'm there, they get quite irritated. -
Has anything happened with ANY of the Surge Homes properties? They came in guns-a-blazin' with 10 different multifamily projects/townhomes but have been extremely quiet since then. I wonder if their representative who has an account on here can provide information on any progress (or lack thereof).

I-45 Rebuild (North Houston Highway Improvement Project)
asubrt replied to ToryGattis's topic in Traffic and Transportation
Will the entire Ballpark Lofts be destroyed, or just the block that abuts the (current) freeway? It seems like they could keep the garage and the other block of apartments that are a block away.- 3,356 replies

I-45 Rebuild (North Houston Highway Improvement Project)
asubrt replied to ToryGattis's topic in Traffic and Transportation
I'm probably going to get killed for this, but I'm sad to hear that the Pierce is going to be destroyed. It's my favorite stretch of highway in Houston: I love driving through and having such a close-up view of the skyline above street level. Obviously traffic is a major issue and something has to be done, and expansion isn't really realistic, but demolition of the Pierce along with trenching of 59/69 will take away a lot of the great drive-by views of Houston. Also, I like having a distinct boundary between neighborhoods, such as downtown/midtown with the Pierce or downtown/EaDo with 59. I guess if they kept it as some sort of High Line type structure (though I don't want to completely rip off New York, I would prefer something original and Houstonian) it would still keep those two neighborhoods separate and unique. The homeless camps underneath are an issue of course, and the area of midtown near here is sketchy (though this may owe more to the Greyhound station than the highway), but this could perhaps be improved upon with some retail near or actually underneath and reducing the width of the structure (and of course moving the Greyhound station, which always seems to get brought up but who knows if it will ever happen). Anyway, I know my views on this topic are contrarian to almost every single person on this forum, but just thought I'd throw in my thoughts. Flame away.- 3,356 replies

http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2015/04/skyhouse-houston-offers-rebate-to-lure-tenants/#21137101=0 Not sure if this means much, but the existing SkyHouse is offering incentives to try to get more residents. Sounds like this is common these days, so hopefully it's not a sign that they are struggling to attract tenants. Apparently they are at 40% occupancy right now.

Broadstone Skyline: Multifamily At 707 Saulnier St.
asubrt replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
This is another one that seems to be moving quite slowly. Maybe it's just because of the huge hole they had to dig for below-grade parking, but it's been under construction for about 7 months and still not at ground level (at least from what it looks like in that picture and when driving by on 45).- 149 replies

Market Square Tower: 40-Story High-Rise At 777 Preston St.
asubrt replied to Urbannizer's topic in Downtown
Not related, but I really like the ballet building from that angle. It's a really cool building, aside from the blank wall, but hopefully something will get built there soon to cover it up.- 1,894 replies

Beat me to it, there was definitely some work going on this afternoon, looked like utility work though it's unclear if it's actually related to/the start of the project or something else.

No, that's still there. It's catty-corner to this one (Southmore, San Jacinto, Fannin, Palm). Don't know why such a prime lot is wasted on a small drive through and nothing else. I imagine it can't remain that way for too much longer.

Oh no. Project put on hold because they are unable to raise the full $80 million. http://www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/houston/article/Plans-for-80-million-cultural-center-in-downtown-6135856.php

It will be interesting to see if SkyHouse Main finishes before this one. They're both listed as 1Q 2016 for estimated completion. It wouldn't surprise me.

Ah ok, I guess I misunderstood and thought that you were referring to the "build out" of Terminal B. Or at least had led to believe by earlier posts/United that this would be happening this decade, as opposed to 10+ years in the future. Oh well.
