  1. Uptown's signs are totally impressive. Yes they are expensive.... but this is the energy capital of the world. We can afford it.
  2. This is definitely going to be a beauty. We Houstonians will envy Dallas here. Good going Big D.
  3. Go stay at a downtown Dallas hotel and then come back and say that. At least we have two pro stadiums, the largest theater district in Texas and most states and movie theaters downtown.
  4. I NEVER bought Baltic. A waste of money.
  5. I wanted to go see a movie after dinner in Dallas (walking distance of course). That didn't happen. Did find a decent restaurant, but West End is history. I did not mean to disrespect Dallas' downtown, but the truth is there isn't much going on (yet). In Houston you can play pool at Slick Willie's, go to jazz clubs, enjoy the music at Sambuca and get drunk at Cabo's. Plus see a movie at Angelika. It is easier on the business traveler to have something to do (like walk over to Minute Maid Park or Toyota Center) without hassling with getting a cab. But ya do what ya gotta do. By the way, our firm moved into Fountain Place. A beautiful building and a nice restaurant in downtown Dallas (our Dallas office that is). No flame war intended here. Thanks.
  6. Absolutely beautiful. Now if I can only win the lottery .....
  7. Good grief. Grownups decide their morals. It is not slave labor or abortion or cruelty to animals. It is entertainment .... video poker, slot machines; couldn't be any more immoral than betting on the dogs or the horses? The Baptists preach that morality crap. I enjoy gambling on occasion, not daily or even monthly. But if Texas doesn't want revenues, then Louisiana will keep on raking it in from Texans. By the way, they have gambling in Baton Rouge so to have gambling in College Station wouldn't be different than Baton Rouge.
  8. Water is attractive.... no matter if it is a pond, or lake or bay or beach, water is the key. But I understand, JASON, the irony.
  9. I stayed at the Fairmount because it was 1.5 blocks from my work there. Have I told you there is nothing to do within a 1 mile radius? You got it and I am being sweet about this. Nothing to do. Learn to catch a cab and hopefully you will get them to turn on the A/C. Houstonians and A/C go hand and hand. We don't have to ask. It is simply the way of life down here. Maybe that is why we are the "most air conditioned city in the world" is because we just are. Anyhow, be careful of Downtown Dallas because there is, trust me on this one, nuttin' to do down there. Give me S.A., Austin or Hou any day for a business trip. Thanks.
  10. And that stadium, Dallas tends to run a decade or so behind Houston in getting first class stadia. Or is that stadiums? At any rate, we have two retractable roof ones and one Dome that was the '8th wonder of the world' by Texas standards. At any rate, I look forward to Dallas, errrrr, Arlington or some burb up there, having the balls to build something better than the hole in the roof design that has been Dallas' laughingstock for years. By the way, did I tell Dallas how much I love you?
  11. Nice pics JASON. What a lovely place. Hmmm...... makes me wanna go down there and look and buy (but I can't afford it quite yet). Thanks for the pics. Good luck to Evia.
  12. Of course that area of town, incomes are good. I doubt if any household up there makes less than six figure incomes (or at least very few). At that rate, shouldn't be a problem selling those beautiful condos. You go Raveneaux.
  13. Get a yellow marker. The Gulf Of Mexico counties from Louisiana (Lake Charles) down to Rockport (a stopping off place since the beach geauxs for days) indicate there are six million of us. And when quality like engineers, geologists and the like are factored in, we got it goin' down here. The Port of Dallas
  14. Bottom line: Turnberry will build its 42 story beauty or it will build a smaller one at 33 floors (that'd be big in Dallas but a blip in H-town). The dirt: are we gonna get a beautiful Turnberry project in one of the most desired settings in the city or are they gonna dick us around with this and that and scaled down versions of the original? Let us kow, Turnberry.... no playing.
  15. Whoa! Over reaction to frickin' lights??? Total over reaction.
  16. The good news is that we have great casinos a couple of hours to the East in Lake Charles. The bad news is we don't get revenue. How about installing slot machines or video poker machines at the dog track and horse track? That would be too much like right. Oh yeah, too much like right.
  17. Cheers. A great airline on the cutting edge. We got it first.
  18. Lunch was great at Monument Inn. On a real waterway with real barges, ships and boats coming and going. In your dreams, Big D, in your dreams.
  19. The Victory is very cool. Good for Big D. We Houstonians are looking forward to our Pavilions and new downtown park as well as a new highrise next to the park, of which there will be more. At least Dallas and Houston are growing and prospering. Think of Detroit and, yuck, ya know?
  20. I am off work this week and with our beautiful weather, we have plans for lunch at Monument Inn. That would be the one where you can cross the Houston Ship Channel by ferry. While you dine, you see ships from countries round the world ease through bringing goods that we can send to the "Port of Dallas" The one thing that we have on any Texas city is our port, bays and the entire Gulf of Mexico. I could choose to shop, but I'd rather be in touch with nature in the shadow of the San Jacinto Monument. While I'm there, if there aren't 15,000 school kids, I might go over and take the elevator to the top for the view, and, I haven't been there for a couple of years.
  21. I guess the Golden Gate Bridge isn't a good example of what the causeway could be or the bridge in La Porte. TxDot sucks. My 2 cents.
  22. OK; the Bob (I am in the dark on this one) but First Retractable roof one - like the Astrodome - for football... but whatever ..... Houston has set the mark for whatever ! Skydome ... and Sooner... I am not from here, but got to Houston as fast as I could.
  23. Thank goodness Austin is a party town. Otherwise, we'd be Salt Lake or sumpin. Gag.
