  1. Yeah, we are kind of slow in Houston. We just happen to be Texas' largest city and the nation's fourth city. But in all fairness, Dallas has dropped from 7th to 9th. Give 'em a high five.
  2. This may be posted somewhere else, but I talked with Hard Rock Cafe folks and they say a very cool club is being built as we speak to the tune of two plus million next to Verizon. If this is somewhere on the board, I am sorry, but I was interested in the facts of this event. Anybody?
  3. Houston's Hobby Center offers spectacular views of our AWEsome downtown that no other venue can come close to. Hobby Ctr is a jewel in the oasis of downtown. Dallas will not come close in this arena.
  4. Let 'em build. It will all end up with real low rents for Class A office space ....bottom dollar. Good luck. Houston has learned to build on a reality basis and been better off for it... naturally we have more Fortune 500 companies, taller buildings and a bigger city because of our patience and, grasshopper, we shall prevail. Ouch this will make sense tomorrow because that chardonnay is kicking in ... Texas Star.. we think alike. and that's an optomtistic thang.... here's to Texas no matter what city
  5. that's what makes our "sprall" spring and summer without winter amazingly cool. Katz is so right for the Bayou City and its burbs.
  6. And let's not worry.... Houston does not and will not not be like New York. New York is overpopulated and basically gross. Houston is far more laid back and because we will welcome a new downtown park, doesn't mean we will be anything like a Yankee NY. (thank the gods). Besides, the Bayou City is far more charming than the over-crowded, taxi honking, PATHETIC New York. Kudos to the Bayou City. We rule and always will.
  7. At least this project is moving forward.... unlike some developers' dreams for nuttin' Go Moasaic! A Hermann Park reality; not a dream.
  8. OK. I'll buy the penthouse and red scare can buy the next 2nd highest priced condo. Then we'll have a great start. I'll only need $013248710293847102389470 ok never mind.... but I am optimistic that we will have a 2727.
  9. I do not agree. Southeast Texas includes Houston, Sugar Land, Baytown, adjacent Beaumont and Lake Charles, LA and Bryan-College Station : 6 million folks. Now, that's our metropolis. Bring on your best and we'll see where we rank.
  10. At least it proves that hospitals don't have to be "institutional" scary places. I like the mod design and it will add to our big ass skyline to boot.
  11. From Dallas Morning News. New Construction What will they do with all the empty space? Ahhh, make apartments for the homeless.
  12. Great pics. Dallas never looked so good. I like the sunset (or was it sunrise) one. Thanks for sharing.
  13. This one may get done. First, the Huntingdon is old. Secondly, River Oaks hasn't had another one quite in that league built. There is enough mega millionaires in Houston to buy into 2727. My fingers are crossed because it is such a beautiful design and location.
  14. Kool. But I will not take my dog to any pet hotel. My dog goes with or my family takes care of. My dog is way too precious for me to leave at a hotel (even though it may be a good one). I'm finicky when it comes to Precious, my mini poodle.
  15. Citgo means nothing to me. I have always passed those stations for more upscale ones. They seemed seedy to me. Chavez and Citgo can go to hell. Just my two cents.
  16. When I moved to Houston, I had to take a few months and figure out exactly where I fit it. Fort Worth (bret) will do the same thing. Then Fort Worth will slowly become a Houstonian - something that lots of folks would like to call themselves. Take your time FW, and you will find your place in the nation's fourth largest city. It can be a cool place or a stressful one. Take your time (grasshopper). By the way, I don't think you will ever regret moving to our metropolitan area. It truly is fabulous.
  17. But San Antone is a very upstart metro area. Keep on plugging SA, and Houstonians will keep you in business. You know that Houstonians go there more than probably any other city in the state. S.A. is cool and we'll make sure you all keep being cool. Dallas can smirk at the Riverwalk, but that's just jealously. We know our Buffalo Bayou is no comparison. But we don't try to do the attitude thing. I would like to be in a hotel on the Riverwalk right now and walk around and enjoy autumn. But.... work is calling. I wish the best for San Antonio. Yes, it's got a long road to hoe to catch the two big cities in Texas, but take one day at a time.
  18. The lack of Class A office space and Fortune 500 companies is SA's problem. They are a growing mid-sized city, but Houston and Dallas have it all over them. Keep going SA, you are not too bad for a young sprout. And, with the New Orleans wipeout, SA may reap the tourist dollar.
  19. Can they dye the water? Often? Interesting, but I don't think that would work. However, the green water has been real nice. A huge rain and it is muddy again.
  20. You would be surprised. Bayou Place is far from being dead. Welcome to the new Mosaic in Houston.
  21. I noticed last night and yesterday how peaceful and beautiful the bayou is right now. Emerald and dark green waters sparkling from the lighting .... the people who put this together .... including mother nature .... my congratulations. Houston .... we have a great downtown venue. Let's use it.
  22. This "best" urban stuff has gotta take a back seat to reality. Houston has some way cool urban environments. Not only that, when can you take a thirty minute drive to Kemah, Galveston, beaches, etc. or buy a condo on the beach or the bay in Dallas or Atlanta? OK, yes, you you have your little fresh water lakes. We have those too. So "my urban best" can beat your "urban best" almost always. Thanks, houstonfella has attitude today. >
  23. The sad thing about tight budgets is that wasteful spending is rampant. Millions of dollars are squandered into the abyss. Yet, we go about life as if it weren't happening. And for those folks getting laid off, we feel your pain. GM, Ford, it is going on all over. Bummer.
  24. Somehow I was too left off the list. I prefer to be quietly super rich
