  1. For what it's worth, here's the link from today's Chronicle; Houston now has 10 billionaires, up 3 from last year. We already know Harris County has the most millionaires in Texas. There's some money down here on the bayou Houston's Billionaires
  2. Our choices: grandma, Perry (argh), Bell (boring) or Kinky .... I'll be kinky on this one. I am totally liberal.
  3. Rats. Naturally HART would have been used already. Sigh.
  4. There you go Texas 911..... FART perfect. but they have no HEART
  5. Key West. They have handled similar problems and seem to thrive. What is it that can't be done to Pelican? I seriously haven't a clue.
  6. Americans have become so uptight about drinking. Christ, I have a glass of wine every day at lunch.... every day. So what? I come home and have a few more glasses. I love life. I love wine. What would be the impact of this? I'll die before I'm 92? Bummer. Guess I wanted to live to be 111.
  7. Yes, but it took one hour for us to get four miles to Halstead on the bus. The L was a long, long walk. And in Chicago, those old buildings are expensive to rent and small. But you get the wonderful 9 month long winter when you pay those high prices as well.
  8. Richmond is the perfect choice (my 2 cents). I understand the construction process will be almost unbearable for those folks over there. But if they hang, they are going to have a beautiful rail system like the one going from downtown to Reliant in a few years. That will make that area very mobile and you can go from Galleria to lots of places. Now can you imagine tearing up Post Oak? This is about the downtown park and I'm totally pumped about this project. You'd be surprised how fast they can dig down there and get a garage done. In my area of town there were thick woods. In weeks they are pouring cement for a large school. I was amazed at how construction can be so fast.
  9. Ann Richards ... we will miss her so much. I, and so many others, loved her style, grace and compassion.
  10. Don't care. Houston is the big Daddy in Texas. Nuttin will change that exept unless some city obtains 2.1 million mexicans or whatever soon. lol.... this is nothing but in good humor.... no harm meant to a group of wonderful mexican-americans. I love 'em.
  11. HAIFers ... info here? Or are you all out of the loop on this one and fella is there?
  12. Dallas and Austin have the boyz. Houston is where the men are. Get hot or get out. Isn't that our motto? No ugly boys in Austin or Dallas ..... pleeeeezzzzzz..... oh yeah ..... but Ripcord will cool you off. Bloomingdales would definitely make it in Houston. Sorry it fizzled in dallas. A one-way ticket for you ....... care!!!!!!
  13. Moose... you da man. Those pics, jeez, I didn't know that there was a crosswalk along the bayou on the one picture. Thank you so much. I, too, am an East Sider and love the city. Wanna say thanks to you for your great work and share and please share a lot.
  14. Houstonians know BIG. That's how we do things. Great for SA. I love the place (but couldn't live there).
  15. Thanks Troy. Dallasbois, Troy and h'fella know that this is a grand and beautiful and awesome project for Texas (not just Dallas). Cool that's it is happenin' in Big D, but it is for all of us Texans who get slammed by those f***ers from the Northeast and W. Coast.
  16. When we are discussing millions and millions of dollars, this will take time. Don't worry. Be happy. HP will happen.
  17. I think it is bittersweet. Yes, to have all this office space in one confined area would make Chicago helpless. At any rate, people here can live near their employment center and drive and not worry about riding the L or whatever.....
  18. Don't be too fast on Houston learning anything. In my Mosaic post: This is so cool. That area is going to be radically changed. The one thing that amazes me about Houston is the size. You have Kingwood with its Harbor; Woodlands with its lakes and riverwalk (plus a skyscraper); you have Clear Lake with condo skyscrapers; Energy Corridor with its endless number of highrises for the corporate giants; Greenway Plaza skyscrapers and condos; Uptown with its ritzy self; downtown humming right along with plans of a park and new highrise condos; Galveston, gotta include our island playground, bursting at the seams with new development .... I am sure I left some part of this BIG city out. If not, I know one of you all will know. Go Mosaic! Not taking anything away from Big D and its beautiful projects, but let's don't do attitude on this one.

  20. I have always wanted it to be HART (Houston Area Rapid Transit) with a heart logo. We are home of the world's largest med center and seemed all too appropriate. Plus, Houston, after Katrina, has a very big heart.
  21. And in the population "brag" if you will, San Antonio vaulted from way down the list to 7th largest in the nation. Houston, naturally, jumped from small to 4th largest in the nation. And, Dallas, has slipped to almost the 10th spot (they are hanging in at 9th). The good news for Dallas is that the metro is hot and sizzling at 6 mil. with 16 counties. Houston, with its bordering metros of College Station, Beaumont-Golden Triangle and Lake Charles (adjacent metros) clocks in at the 6 mil. mark as well. San Antonio and Austin are starting to get big too. I am not sure, if you drew a circle around that beautiful area of the state, what the population would be. Anyone got a guess? 2.5 mil?
  22. Actually, I have seen other renderings and that one does not flatter the building at all. The other renderings I have seen were beautiful. I don't think it will look like a red hat appearance in reality. You know pictures can be deceiving. But we will wait and see.
  23. Dallasboi, I think it is way cool. Can you move it south 250 miles?
  24. It appears this will be a bar or nightclub or restaurant of some kind in Bayou Place. Anyone have the scoop on this one? Right next to Verizon.
