  1. Thanks for the advice, especially seeing that I've been a member of HAIF for years now. All of this suburban hate crap is boring and useless. Of course the city is more exciting, but many can't afford it. Not to mention the makeup of Houston's metro area makes it impossible for all 6 million residence to live inside the loop, which, and as Pleak mentioned, you would have to eliminate The Heights, etc to make your point stick. Next time you brag about Houston and it's metro standing, you might consider that it takes all of us to make the city what it is. Suburbs will always be less exciting than the city. It's the nature of the beast and always has been, but that doesn't mean that a logical person can't see it's value, especially in a city like Houston.
  2. Wow! sounds like an Ltawacs comment... Nevermind all of those "leeches" that spend multiple millions in Houston every year. Not quite sure how they're sucking up free services either. Maybe you could explain.
  3. My lord... Your posts are painful. Is there nothing more you can add to the converstaion?Personally, I think this is great for the city. The continuing emergence of the Katy/energy corridor is a help to the image of the city. At least where freeway asthetics are concerned. Houstons a big damned city, and thinking that it all should remain inside the loop is ludicrous. It's not the natural condition of it's unique layout.
  4. Wow! after reading the reply's to this topic, no wonder most of the forum has been on the down turn. It's like listening to NPR.
  5. I was way wrong about the Texans and gladly admit it. I do think Yates threw some really bad balls and was lucky he didn't get what should have been a pick 6 against him. I still don't think they have a good chance against the Ravens unless TJ picks his game up.
  6. Yep. That's something I've learned about over my many years here. My buddy calls it the "Houston jinx."
  7. Spoke with a source, and Gertners should be open by the end of January. possibly a little before.
  8. "Gary bar?" hee, hee. any other suggestions are appreciated as well. She's looking for a place to dance with some hot guys because I won't dance. She'll have no issues getting asked since she's georgeous. Relax folks, we've been married almost 19 years and it's all good. Nothing to kinky, just want her to have a good time.
  9. Thanks for the suggestions guys... Numbers I like, but is out because my wife wants more modern dance music. Do the other clubs (Rich's, Drink Houston) provide more modern music?
  10. Ok, this is not my thing at all, but.... My wife wants me to take her dancing for our anniversary, and I don't mean line dancing at the local country bar. She wants to hit a hip dance club in town. I need suggestions from my friends out there. One thing. I would rather it not be a place where I have to wear slacks and dress shoes, nor do I want to wait in line to get approved for entry. This long haired boy would never gain entrance. Any help would be appreciated. I'm completely ignorant on the matter.
  11. Did you not read post #81? You know the one that's six posts up?
  12. Sapwood doesn't have the rot and insect resistance that clear all heart does (doesn't look like there are any knots), but seeing that the sapwood is still in good shape, i'd leave it alone. I know the redwood and western red cedar industry pretty well and if you have the clear all heart to replace the spawood, I'd hold onto it for possible future issues. Plus, I like the cedar like look of the the two together.
  13. Awesome... Was in the Strand area a couple of weeks ago and spent some time driving and taking pics of his work at various homes. Really amazing stuff and a big positive to an otherwise tragic situation.
  14. Awesome! Now if we could just get one on the west side.
  15. I find it hard to understand how anyone can debate that Houston is visually a much larger city than is Dallas. I travel constantly and can tell you without pause, that Houston has a far bigger feel. Which city one prefers is up to the individual, but arguing that Dallas somehow compares to Houston in it's inner city magnitude/urban feel is silly.
  16. My Dr is/was on the second floor of the building and has a great birds eye view of the atrium. Really neat place, and well kept.
  17. Well Red, you had me until this one. Just can't help throwing in a political plug can you?
  18. I may be wrong, but I thought I remember hearing that it was some kind of Fort Bend County facility.
  19. I almost wet my pants after this read. Really good stuff.
  20. Ok, that is just frickin funny... I would have liked to been on one of those drugs while coming back from Dallas this afternoon.
