  1. What other campus would they be talking about? There was never previous talk of Exxon moving here until the campus near The Woodlands sprang forth. It's interesting that the HBJ publishes an article reading "Exxon changes its mind about Houston."
  2. Or quite the opposite...perhaps it was scrapped because Springwoods Village intentionally chose that location because word was leaked about the Exxon Campus going in at that location. I bet they tried to capitalize on it, like The Woodlands, to have a fortune 500 company in its 'downtown' area. I wonder if that would have scared Exxon away?
  3. Plans for an Exxon-Mobile campus in Houston have been scrapped.... http://www.bizjourna...ut_houston.html
  4. That's speculation but it is odd that they chose this track of land to build on--conviently located behind the Exxon campus. If it's not a part of it, they certainly plan on capitalizing on it.
  5. Where is the XOM site exactly? According to the rendering of Springwoods, there is no room for it on the west side of 45...not until you get south of what...2920?
  6. Not everybody lives within 2 miles of downtown. Go back to your small town. If it was WAYYYYYY out, people wouldn't live there. Clearly you have not seen how full The Woodlands Express busses are in the morning times. Clearly you have not seen how jammed 45 is during the morning and afternoon commutes in north Harris County or south Montgomery County. If it was WAYYYY out, why is The Woodlands so prosperous? If it was WAYYYY far out, why is Montgomery County one of the fastest growing counties in the nation? Funny, nobody ever says a word about "Sugar Land" <nose in the air> or Kingwood.
  7. Outstanding! And this doesn't even include the millions of square feet of potential XOM will be building. As far as the 'farflung' location, people need to get over it. This is not some small midwestern city. It's Houston, TX...the 4th largest city in the country. Montgomery County is one of the fastest growing counties in the country. Why doesn't it make sense to build here? It's close to the airport, 30 min drive downtown, 5 min. to The Woodlands town center. What are the drawbacks? The Woodlands is BOOMING. Montgomery County is BOOMING. I think commuter rail will eventually make it's way up this way which will also help the area. The Woodlands continues to grow, Houston continues to grow and with the location of Exxon-Mobile and other major corporations in and around The Woodlands, this will be a great place to call home. What an outstanding project!
  8. I wanna say I remember reading an article that mentioned it would be several million square feet of space. Don't they usually put a crane up for even a midrise?
  9. There was an article in the Washington Post about the move of Exxon-Mobil to the Spring/Woodlands area. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/09/10/AR2010091006558.html
  10. I was piddling around on wikipedia earlier today and came across some information stating that Frontier Airlines is to cancel service to Houston beginning in November. Did any of you guys hear this?
  11. Where is it to be located? I could not get placement based on the video animation. Is it at the intersection of 45 and the beltway or is it further back near the other highrises?
  12. Well IF my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle. The problem is money is rarely allocated for public services and when it is, it is not sufficient to keep up with the influx of residents (140,000 new people in 2009 alone). Rather, they want to build ANOTHER stadium for a soccer team that few in this city care about (relative to baseball or football--this is not a jab at soccer).
  13. I stand corrected. Who owns the Astrodome then?
  14. This is just my opinion, but I think the Astrodome will be next in line to face the same destiny Texas Stadium did this morning. With a massive city deficit and a shortfall of a projected $90 million by the end of the next fiscal year, I think the Astrodome will be next for the demolition teams. It's costing the city millions to keep it as is every year and with a lackluster economy, I just don't see the dome being saved.
  15. Greenspoint Mall is still slated for MEGA Renovation. Here is a Channel 11 story on Greenspoint and Sharpstown. Worth the watch.. http://www.khou.com/news/Mall-Makeovers--Struggling-malls-to-revamp-to-boost-business--87549042.html
  16. So doing a bit of math, if there are 20 buildings on the campus comprising 3 million sq. ft., then that means each building will be approx. 150,000 sq. ft. That would mean quite a few 8-12 story buildings will be built there--assuming all buildings are equal in sq. ftage.
  17. Here's more info on the campus via the Chronicle. The complex will be comprised of 20 office buildings totaling 3 million square feet, a wellness center, and parking garages. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/energy/6841225.html
  18. I meant as far as Houston City Limits go. They can't go into Montgomery County along the I-45 corridor because of Oak Ridge and The Woodlands. Maybe up to Rayford Rd. But I'm not sure. I'm ignorant on these issues.
  19. Yeah, they can go all the way to the Montgomery County line (about a mile north of the proposed location). The Woodlands and Oak Ridge have control of everything in south Mont. county I would suspect. Spring really isn't a city and Klein is way to the west. I guess Houston could take over most of it. But will they?
  20. Well it should be a very nice campus. I have a feeling though it won't be visible from the freeway. They may use the trees as a buffer and as a security blanket--as was mentioned several posts above.
  21. What kind of structure(s) are we likely looking at? Would this be class B office space--aka, some 'nice' warehouse or will it be midrises? That seems like an odd place for any highrises, but then again, once the Grand Parkway begins, I suppose it won't be so odd. Man, this is great news for the Spring/Woodlands area!
  22. GOING UP--Ashby Highrise! Project gets green light! Project remains at 23 stories. http://www.chron.com...ng/6582223.html
