  1. So we've gone from 3 dazzling towers, down to 2 pretty good size scrapers, to a 2 or 3 story retail shop. Outstanding.
  2. Are you referring to the small amusement park that used to be located where Splash Town is today? I can't remember the name of it to save my life. It was there in the 70's I believe. I also remember Games People Play. It was open I want to say up 'til 1993 or 1994. Went there a many a times. Nothing but a vague memory now. If i'm not mistaken, the lot where it was is still vacant and overgrown with brush. For the longest time, you could see the old putt putt course. When I see the Discount Tire sign, I know to start looking. I believe Discount Tire is right next door.
  3. I was driving down the north freeway yesterday and noticed that Disco Tower is REALLY visible in the skyline. There is no mistaking it or overlooking it. It was pretty cool. Thought I'd throw that out there. At the north loop and the north frwy, it's directly in front of you.
  4. Look I love The Woodlands. It's the best burb here is imo. There's those who can and those who can't. And those who can't watch those who can. I agree with the poster about the boats. The drainage ditch smear made me chuckle. I think it has potential though...especially if they open up the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I think Sugar Land is highly overrated. The only reason why The Woodlands didn't make the list for best small city to live in is because it's not a city. So Sugar Landers can snub The Woodlands, but at the end of the day, I think The Woodlands far outshines all other burbs. Aside from all the major corporations headquartered here, we also have the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, a planned location for a MAJOR museum, a very nice mall, Earthquest will be a hope, skip, and a jump. That alone should (I would think) make property values skyrocket across south county. We're very close to IAH and we do have the largest skyline of any suburb...BY FAR.
  5. So what can be expected of The Woodlands by say 2050. Most of what makes up The Woodlands today will be old by then. Is The Woodlands destined to become an old outdated suburb that will be considered "the has been?"
  6. Looks like the dome is to become a movie studio.... http://swamplot.com/clear-on-the-concept-t...2-13/#more-6434
  7. ALL SYSTEMS GO! Project gets green light from the city and a $17 million dollar tax break. http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...t.b6eb39d5.html
  8. The 11-story building has topped out, but construction will halt soon. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6342486.html
  9. New stadium to rise.... http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...m.694b5ecd.html
  10. Is the museum still a go? I haven't heard a word about it. Will the condo tower likely be the last 20 something story building built in The Woodlands? Just curious. I often wonder if any more like it will pop up over the next few years.
  11. Hate to start a new thread about an ongoing project, but an article in the Chronicle this morning states that Highstreet, for all intensive purposes, is dead along with several other highrise projects... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/headli...iz/6174724.html
  12. What happened to that big mall renovation that they were supposed to do?
  13. Honestly, I'm not torn up about it in the least. I thought it was another run-of-the-mill concrete block with little elequence. I'm sure that eventually it will be replaced with something far more achitecturaly appealing. Just my opinion of course.
  14. Your right. That's why I said I was inferring.... If you go back and watch the video or read the article, he clearly says that due to the financial crisis, they are going to have to revisit the project. To me, that can only mean one thing....not to mention that he said the Condo market in Houston was very soft. Hmmmmm, if they are going to revisit the project with a condo market that is soft, I figured it would be scraped. But again, Wulfe was not very clear.
  15. Condo Tower scraped? Big time downsize of the Ritz??? See for yourself...(I'm inferring this) http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...t.d59a8d1b.html
  16. WOW! Impressive! Damn, one floor shy of 90! That's awesome. Very cool indeed.
  17. Don't mean to toot my own horn here, but I'm kind of excited that I was actually able to contribute something here. I don't know the first thing about architecture or buildings or anything like that. I just like big buildings and want more of them. So yay for me. That's all.
  18. I apologize in advance if this is either built or has been posted here already. Just looking online and came across this. Anybody know of it? http://www.wdgdallas.com/ The description is 33-story, 307 unit residential with 83,000 sqft. of retail. Look under Retail.
  19. Didn't really know where to put this, so here ya go: -TETRA's new building on the feeder road at Rayford/Sawdust appears to have topped out. -New office building (two or three stories) has now broke ground on the north bound feeder just as you cross Spring Creek, next to that new church. -US Onochology has topped out. -Crane is up for the new 20+-story condo going up next to 24 Waterway. -Flyover from 45 to 242 should be getting ready to start construction soon. This is just a quick update on some projects. If you have any other updates, feel free to add them.
  20. Well Transco is 64 stories and 901'. So probably in the mid 800 footer range I'd imagine.
  21. Would anybody be nice enough to give us a photo update of this building? On a side note OOP is bigger than I thought it would be. I'm not sure, but it is getting way up there now. Not really sure what I was expecting.
  22. Yeah, I passed by there yesterday...it's a VAST IMPROVEMENT. I didn't realize how ghetto the building looked until you compare the west facade to the east facade. So far, it looks good.
