  1. I'm waiting on these developers to pull the plug on the whole thing and moving it to Dallas, Atlanta, or Phoenix. As usual, Houston will shoot themselves right in the foot.
  2. 2727 Kirby is getting on up there in height now. I drove by it about 10pm last night and all the lights were on inside. If I had to guess, I'd say it was on the 20th or so floor. The same an also be said for One Park Place. They had all the lights on in it too and it looks to be upwards of 25 stories or so.
  3. Opening the windows eh? Common error. If a tornado is going to hit your house, it doesn't matter if the windows are open or not. Studies have shown that the pressure isn't what does it. It's allowing wind inside your home. That's why, more times than not, that you will see such extreme damage from hurricanes. Chances are the garage, the weakest part of the home, will fail first and allow wind inside. Once inside, it has nowhere to go but up and the roof is one of the weakest parts of the house, so off it comes.
  4. Oh, I thought it was 19 stories with a 10 story parking garage next to it. Maybe not. Oops.
  5. Please, nice building, but come on, it's a mid-rise. NEXT! It will be practically invisible next to all the others.
  6. I'm learning that the preliminary plans for height should be cut in half and reduce the square footage by half as well. A 66 story tower was WAY too good to be true. Anything over 30 stories you can pretty much ax. Look at Discovery Tower...the preliminary word was a 30 story tower likely to be taller. It's not. Turnberry Tower: Preliminary word was a 42 story tower. I think we are down to 32 or something. It seems that 30 stories is the magic floor count. Everything going up seems to have 30 floors. All the buildings going up in the Med center all have under 30 stories except for the newest completion which is 30 stories. 2727 Kirby: 30 stories. The Mosaic: 29 stories. The Endeavors: 30 stories. Anadarko Tower: 30 stories. 6 Houston Center: 29 stories (with parking garage). I know some of those are old, but come on. Can we build anything over 30 stories?? I know I know...Mainplace. Other than that and BLVD Place, I can't think of any other building slated to be taller than 30 stories. It's rather frustrating.
  7. Discovery Tower has been added to Google Earth. Very cool.
  8. Well it's AA. What do they know about IAH. By the way, if this merger between Continental and United or American goes through, IAH will drop to the size of Hooks. Not really, but I'd imagine the passenger counts would fall drastically.
  9. I couldn't find the Discovery Green thread (I went back 5 pages) so I'll post it here. Channel 2 is going to be doing a special on Discovery Green and it's grand opening I presume on March 1st. Lauren Freeman was the one who shot the promo for it. Just a heads up.
  10. You know the rendering certainly looks bigger/taller than a 30-story building. When the building was origionally proposed, they said it could be much bigger than what was being called for. Does anybody know if they have increased the amount of square footage or added any floors?
  11. I'll never call it Bush either. But for the record, it's named after the first Bush...of course, I can't stand neither. LEAVE OFFICE ALREADY!
  12. I pulled Google Earth up on my computer and though it is neat, it doesn't make as big of an impact on the skyline as I would have thought...especially from the N. Side and the West side. Even from the south side it looks modest compared to the others. Anybody else think that? Also, how come Google Earth does not 3D the Heritage Plaza anymore? It was, at one point, one of the colored in buildings. Now, it doesn't even pop from the ground. Any thoughts?
  13. http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...e.50dac089.html Well, we could be one step closer to seeing the demise of the Astrodome.
  14. According to the article below, a new high-rise office tower is now planned for the site adjacent to Williams. It is located near the Cosmopolitan high-rise condo tower and I believe connected to the Galleria via tunnel. This plan also calls for a residential tower to be erected later in the second phase. I apologize if this has already been posted. http://www.commercialpropertynews.com/cpn/...65d968a442f6a89
  15. So back to the richest zip code thing...never have I heard of any TX zip code being in the top 5. The closest I could find is 77024 ranked 11th. Austin 78746 ranked 9th. It's interesting to note that The Woodlands and Sugar Land ranked in the top 100 (70th and 88th respectively.) http://wealth.mongabay.com/tables/100_inco...odes-10000.html
  16. I caught the tail end of a story by ABC 13 saying something about the Williams Tower and all the land around it being sold. Can anybody pull the story or has anybody heard about this? Is it for development? Pardon the lack of info.
  17. I'd like to apologize right from the get go. The following info. may have errors. I had on local 2 this evening listening to the news and they had a story about the Texas Medical Center. I heard Bill say that within the next 7 years, the med center will undergo a building boom turning into one of the top 10 largest business districts in the U.S. Has anybody else heard this? I apologize again if any of this info. is wrong or misinterpreted. Again, I heard the information this evening (Nov. 21) on KPRC Local 2 News.
  18. It's under the tour key and then click "watch us rise." However, I apologize because I just realized that the "latest" picture from there is back on 4/20/07.
  19. I'm not sure if anybody has seen this or not, but here is a webcam of the project. Sorry if this is a double post. http://www.2727kirby.com/
