  1. Ummm, from what I've seen, metro Chicago is over 800 sq. miles larger than Houston so not quite sure what you're talking about. But I agree, who gives a rats ass what a bunch of stuck up northerners think. They have more killings than anybody else and their city is losing population. Many people in Chicago may not be 'worried' about dropping to 4th largest but it IS on the minds of city leaders and other enthusiests like ourselves that see it as a major blow to the 'Second', no wait, third city....no wait, FOURTH city's ego. People who write stories to bash other cities buildings or people are insecure and are doing nothing more than trying to convince themselves of long past truths. Being a Houstonian, I smile big because that article is nothing more than the Titanic sending up flares in a cold, dark Atlantic.
  2. I've been watching them build it for weeks. It looks spectacular. Very modern. By far the best set they've had yet and the sleekest one in Houston by far... Here's the pics: http://www.click2houston.com/news/photos-kprc-local-2s-new-set/-/1735978/22087652/-/lmm9axz/-/index.html
  3. I've been anxiously awaiting this project. This will be a great addition to uptown.
  4. Wow, if that scaling is correct, that tall blue building is pushing 40 stories or more. Was this perhaps an old 'Shell' proposal? On a side note, it appears that there is a new anchor department store south of Dillards. It seems like I remember this being proposed years ago. Is that still in the works?
  5. Everybody is going all goo-goo over this building and you can't even see 70% of it. I just remember seeing a water-color image of another development downtown, cough...the Embassy Suites, and how sweet it looked and we got a concrete shell with signage. We'll see.
  6. Looks like this tower has been reduced to 22-stories after concerns that the building will dwarf surrounding buildings: http://www.museumparkna.org/Resources/Documents/MPNA%20Position%20Statement%20-%20July%2025,%202013.pdf Edit: I inferred the ''reduced'' part based on the article. I have no inside information aside from what you read on the release.
  7. Will this building exceed/surpass Continental 1 in height?
  8. I LOVE this building but hate the location. It doesn't mesh well AT ALL with the other buildings around it. It looks very alien---like it just doesn't belong. I think this building would be better suited for an area near DG or uptown. I think it is a GREAT addition but to be so bold and center like that would, IMO, take away from the north view skyline.
  9. Per the rendering, it looks like the the curtain wall/crown will add an additional 5 floors or so. So this will appear to be a 35-story building. Pretty dominating in that part of uptown, yes?
  10. According to her, it would be in close prox. to the midrise office across from Lake Robbins---which Anadarko also owns.
  11. Got to chatting with a lady tonight at the bowling alley who works for Anadarko. We were chatting about the new tower and what not and how the Anadarko corp. just dominates the Woodlands skyline. She mentioned that the talk of a 3rd highrise across from Lake Robbins is in serious discussion. She didn't have specifics but she said to be looking for it in the next few years. Interesting eh?
  12. <Que Price is Right loser horn>. Well I sure would like to know what they mean by "Texas Size" a building. Texas is a big state with a big population (2nd in both categories). What the heck do they intend on upsizing? The price to rent there or is it the price of the building? I find it hard to believe that adding 5 or 10 stories to a building would justify it as "Texas size upgrade".
  13. For some reason ''CityCentre'' comes to mind when I think of this block. Could there be a correlation? That was supposed to be what....65-stories or something?
  14. Is this the first 50-story tower to go up in Houston since the Heritage Plaza in '86?
  15. I'd also add that the building will not be nearly that "blue". If it is to mirror the other Chevron buildings (Enron 1 and 2) then this building will most certainly be metallic or silver in nature. That will also help it stand out prolly.
  16. So this thing isn't even going to break ground for almost another yeat at least. What's the usual timeline for a building this big to go from surface lot removal to occupancy? 2 years?
