  1. The Chronicle has an piece on the restart of construction and an updated rending of the Whole Foods location to show the Chase Bank signing, as well as construction photos. http://www.chron.com/business/real-estate/article/Construction-resumes-at-Uptown-upscale-3866536.php
  2. Completely forgot about this thread when I read through the proposal recently. It actually was completed in 2010 and has since been posted on the City Economic Development Co's website. The development of the system, with the potential goal of two city bus routes is the main focus. Other highlights feature better sidewalk access as well as the creation of bike lanes in some areas. Even rail transit is briefly touched. http://www.rosenbergecodev.com/docs/1-Rosenberg%20Transit%20and%20Ped%20Plan%20-%20Combined%20CD%20Version.pdf
  3. Checked the leasing brochure again... Looks like Raising Cane's and Capital One may go in at the intersection of Spacek & Reading Roads. Papa Murphy's Take & Bake Pizza also looks like it might be going into the pad near the entrance to 59 on the Phase II side. Last time I drove by, it looked like the apartment complex was coming along pretty well. Forgot the name of the development on Reading, across from SpringHill Suites, but it looked like they were starting to get the foundations or streets in place there.
  4. Based on what I saw when I was taking pictures near the site, I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. Here are a few snaps...
  5. More glimpses from updated leasing information look like that a few more tenants have been tapped. They include... -A Memorial Hermann Clinic (northeast side) -River Oaks Emergency Care Center (southeast side) -Charming Charlie -59 Diner, in place of the Arby's And I'm trying to figure out what the 25ksf development's tenant would be... Any idea?
  6. Aren't these the towers where, as the legend goes, Interfin reportedly paid for the site in full and in cash at some point prior to construction? At around the time they opened, I do know they went a different route with marketing. In a Sunday edition of the Houston Post, they distributed copies of their leasing information. Based on what I remember seeing, they were formatted like circulars from stores or the weekend magazines, at least in terms of their size. Can't say I've seen that done here before, or since. As for the topic - no they don't look new. They look like a good quality period piece, but there's nothing wrong with that. As mentioned earlier, I think it might take some time for them to be appreciated for their contribution to the overall skyline as well as their specific style.
  7. If I'm not mistaken, that was one of the original visions of the tower(s) planned for the site now occupied by 1600 Smith Street. For a while, the plan called for two towers. I think even the current tower may have had a twin in one plan, with the other being 65 floors and of the same design.
  8. Excellent timing for this then... http://blog.chron.com/primeproperty/2012/05/pepper-jacks-to-open-in-cabo-space-downtown/
  9. $8 Million to bring this one down... http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/blog/breaking-ground/2012/05/brookfield-spent-8m-on-demolition.html
  10. http://www.bisnow.co...deal-sheet-459/ Carl’s Jr. ground-leased 76k SF at Brazos Town Center in Rosenberg. NewQuest’s David Meyers repped the landlord in-house.

  13. The official opening for the TCH Maternity Center was today, and there's been a fair amount of attention paid to it locally. Hospital President & CEO Mark Wallace discusses the center in his latest blog post. (w/video) The Houston Business Journal provides a capsule version of the post and some brief bits on the project in general. (w/slideshow) The Chronicle takes a look at the hospital and what it will mean in terms of added services for both mothers and their children.
  14. Here are some updated photos of the stadium at night from the Dyanamo Facebook Page.
  15. The Houston Business Journal has more on the development under consideration near the McKesson Building http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2012/02/the-woodlands-considers-developing.html And a rendering...
  16. The first tower was completed several years ago, with KBR ultimately leasing a fair amount of space inside. According to a blurb in this November 2011 article from the Houston Business Journal, the second could be on the way in the not too distant future.
  17. The firm has picked up the old Arco building on Memorial, just west of Eldridge and southeast of the Westway Park complex. They'll demolish the structure this Summer, and are said to be considering redeveloping the plot as new Class-A office & garage space. The deal was previously teased last November. Today's story: http://www.bizjourna...nt-site-in.html
  18. The rumor mill: Landry's may have picked up the building... http://galvestondailynews.com/story/296294/

  21. Lisa Gray had a great piece in the Chronicle about the site over the past few weeks. Very nice photos as well... http://www.chron.com/life/gray/article/Gray-Asia-Society-Texas-Center-is-minimally-2638320.php
  22. Since 2009, the Intermodal Center and a swath of land on the opposite side of 59 have been designated a Foreign Trade Zone. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=ahODOTUu4GYE Didn't realize that GBI purchased the 340 acres on that other side. Then again, it being GBI... the rendering is going to be pretty far-fetched by default. http://www.gbiinternational.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=19&Itemid=40 Also didn't realize that Whirlpool had considered building a distribution site at the Terminal. Haven't seen anything other than the HBJ article though, so who knows what happened to that... http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/print-edition/2010/11/12/whirlpool-spins-huge-project.html?page=all
  23. http://ultimatefortbend.com/stories/327839-rosenberg-development-corporation-approves-agreement-with-imperial-performing-arts Rosenberg's Development Corporation agreed to the plan put forward by Sugar Land based Imperial Arts. The plan would generally allow the company to take office space near the Post Office, and would commit to restoring the old Cole Liberty Theater on Third Street. Ultimately, the goal is to create a "cultural district", sanctioned by the state's Arts Commission. And the original press release from last year... http://www.ci.rosenberg.tx.us/index.aspx?page=26&recordid=405&returnURL=%2Findex.aspx
  24. The location in Memorial City opened in 1989. Think it closed at some point in the mid 90s though... I have this commercial on my YT from the launch of that location.
