The only other thing out there I saw was the blurb from HBJ's Daily Update, which covers pretty much the same points. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/stories...17/daily16.html

Hess Tower: Office Skyscraper At 1501 McKinney St.
ChannelTwoNews replied to Ethanra's topic in Downtown
Looks like they're starting to dig up the parking lot for the garage that will be connected across Walker Street. Along the promenade at Discovery Greeen, there are a series of infomational displays detailing the amount of green building and projects around the area including one dedicated solely to the building.- 1,031 replies

It's kinda hard to see since the photo is small, but at the center of the photo there is a rather deep excavation site with the perimiter walls already shored up with the piles already driven.

It is. The building was designed by WHR Architects, who are responsible for the Methodist Outpatient Center amongst other projects.

The environmental permit mentions an August '08 start date with construction ending in December 2012. Here's a photo of the early stages from this afternoon.

And it's been renamed "Montage", now an all-rental tower. Pretty sad when your naming contest originated here, much less picked the winner from the "unlucky" pile... I'd link to the Sarnoff piece about the situation that was in today's paper, but their website doesn't have the link at the moment.

Neither, since it's not along the bayou. It's on the south side of Braeswood and on the east side of Cecil, set back a block from the bayou.

MD Anderson Mid Campus Developments. I didn't see any other threads referring to this project nor could I find anything about it elsewhere... At any rate, I saw this sign earlier in the afternoon. I wasn't sure of the intersection (I think it's Braeswood @ Cecil, and there's a traffic light there) but it is just east of Fannin in the "new" south side of the TMC. Here's a photo of the sign w/ rendering. Pardon the quality, but it's fun to try shooting at a red light and at an odd angle nearly into the sun. Guessing 24-26 floors? http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/houtosme/HouConstruction/DSC01978-1.jpg

GreenStreet: Mixed-Use Development At 1201 Fannin St.

What, that Pitney Bowes is suddenly chopped liver? Only had time to stop into the Books-a-Million, but I was pleasantly surprised at the selection and layout. The rest of the time was spent just wandering about. I walked across the length of the place, basically trying to get a feel from the "sky rings" or whatever they're being branded as. It'd probably be a bit better if it wasn't cool and damp, but it's still a trip to be able to look up the canyon of the streets and buildings. Also, I think the location comes into play when you walk to the end around the HOB box office on the 3rd level. There's a pretty good line of sight to Toyota Center, Hilton Americas & the GRB, so I can definitely see people walking a few blocks to check the place out when it's fully up and running. -
Yay, LTAWACS Jr! I'm not surprised at the outcome thus far. It always seemed to like the original plan would deliver a bit too much, too quickly. A phased plan makes a bit more sense in the long run, so hopefully it will follow that course.

I'm still somewhat ambivalent at this point. I mean, yes, the grand opening for the project is next Thursday (10/16)... but businesses will supposedly be opening into January. That said, I still plan to walk through that day or in the days following the first events. I'd wait till February or a bit later to take an objective look at the place, but that's just me. -

It's once again a parking lot. It was immediately after the hurricane, and over the past few days there's been someone sitting next to a sign with the parking rates. Lot seemed relatively sparse though.

Nil. They were already back to work at the DT site at the time you were posting the message. Was actually at the fence around 10:30-11 ish that morning watching them ramp things back up. The water had been pumped out and the site was relatively dry.- 1,031 replies
