  1. I know there's been some discussion in the past of the site that the Scamrock was planned for, and that Hines had been involved with the site as of late. After stumbling across this page & the rendering included, I was wondering if anyone had additional info on it. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/houtosme/HinesNorthTower.jpg Webcam: http://oxblue.com/open/hines/609main Latest Renderings and Info as of 10/2013 : http://hines.com/press/releases/10-24-13.aspx http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/w9/w960vwofy7my72oy.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/at/att9aiqc5uz5sf5o.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/lt/ltivpvzn6h9rnbwy.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/cv/cvwqzwxm50bfvh4s.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/n6/n6xuq3hkree2obz6.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/b8/b8p8laaumu4b9awg.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/v9/v91wethv1vtxoh48.jpg http://cdn.archinect.net/images/1200x/qy/qy68m8vbgxgcfcqe.jpg
  2. It's listed in the HBJ full article on the Lawry's pull out, also speculated as part of the reason by someone from Orr Commercial. Something on the order of having two steakhouses in that one development might not have been justified for reasons of too much competion. Also in the article, Bill Denton of HP says that another restaurant has signed the lease for the Lawry's spot, but that it will be announced closer to the opening.
  3. Saw this site earlier in the afternoon and it looks like there are 5 cranes up now. Heck of a sight coming from the east...
  4. KPRC is going to have a special on the park tonight at 7. Saw they had both a live truck and Satellite vehicle there as well earlier. Not sure why you'd need both, but eh...
  5. http://www.fortbendherald.com/articles/200...ry/topstory.txt Old Imperial site plans have history's touch By Stephen Palkot Thursday, April 10, 2008 2:15 PM CDT Not even a slowing housing market and ongoing economic woes have stopped developers from speaking in the most glowing terms about plans to transform Sugar Land's Imperial Sugar refinery into a billion-dollar attraction on par with some of the most successful districts in the country. For the CEO of Southern Land Corp., Tim Downey, that means going beyond the well-worn model of strip malls with national chain restaurants, homes built according to a handful of generic layouts and patches of "green" space squeezed in at the last minute. Downey said he wants to see a multi-hundred acre community that could be a regional attraction and with a
  6. I pass this place from time to time since I have a friend that has some land out around Thompsons. Always have meant to get some photos of it since it just grabs your attention from the road. I'll take some photos next time I'm out there.
  7. They've taken down the fence, with trucks hauling it off in pieces this morning. If you're around there they seem pretty cool with people walking through and snapping pictures and such. I took a few, but I'm waiting for better weather to really show the place off.
  8. http://www.fortbendherald.com/articles/200...news/news02.txt TDCJ move boosts Sugar Land Airport In a move expected to clear the way for future development of the highly-coveted land surrounding the Sugar Land airport, the Texas Department of Criminal Justice has officially granted access easements for its Central Prison Unit to the city. Sugar Land has been working with TDCJ and state legislators to relocate the longstanding prison unit to a more out-of-the-way location. This would clear the way for the city's acquisition of more than 300 acres of prison property for the development of aviation-related businesses and a second business park. The initiative was paved with the passage of Senate Bill 909 in the 2007 legislative session, allowing a feasibility study on moving the unit.
  9. No you didn't. You never do. Considering how dated and jaded your signature is, that is proof enough.
  10. http://www.fortbendherald.com/articles/200...ry/topstory.txt Rail center may generate 2,000 jobs By Don Munsch A national rail line today announced construction plans for a large distribution park and rail facility that will bring up to 2,000 jobs and spark significant economic development in far west Fort Bend County. In making the announcement, an official with Kansas City Southern railroad hesitated to pinpoint an exact impact figure, but using conservative economic multipliers said
  11. Thanks for finding it, Trae. Anyway, if you're wondering, the source is connected with the project on the engineering side. I chose to post it since they informed me of the updated floorcounts & partners with the project. That info will also be updated on another structural database available to the public within a few days, so it didn't seem like a breach of privacy or anything to post it here. Anyway, for a few more brief bits... The Condo tower will be 32 stories and the architect will be Pappageorge/Haymes,Ltd. of Chicago Le Meridien will be 18 stories and will have the same partners as the W Hotel. The Office Building will be 16 stories, Gensler is the design architect.
  12. This morning, they began installing the Monument Au Fantome at the entrance to the park near the GRB. The largest piece was already standing and some of the others looked ready to be placed.
  13. I saw some guys in hardhats on the lot earlier this afternoon looking over some plans, somewhat similar to the leadup to the activity on the lot of Discovery Tower. Also, according to the Houston Business Journal this week, the projected begining of construction should be less than 45 days from now.
  14. I'd always thought the Phoenix Tower was the "See Through" tower. Anyway, there was also a 31% vacancy rate to contend with when Heritage Plaza was completed. The market was simply overbuilt and there wasn't nearly as much demand for Class-A office space as there is at this point. The vacancy rate today is nowhere near that number and the demand for that type of office space in the downtown district does necessitate construction.
  15. No, not really. There wasn't even a groundbreaking if you want to be technical. Just a large public announcement almost a week ago. If it's three months out and the lot is still the same... I might be concerned.
  16. It looks like they're going to be adding a "Kroger Marketplace" to the center, next to the JC Penney. Haven't heard of that branding before... are there any others in the area?
  17. The tower is 15 floors and about 162 feet tall, but it's a block back around the intersection of Bettis & Bancroft.
  18. There goes another surface lot! Two construction trailers are sitting on the one right next to it, also fenced up over the past week.
  19. I've been able to crisscross the Crawford promenade a few times since that part seems to be open. I've seen others come in from an entrance along Avenida de las Americas as well, so I'd guess they're ok with people crossing the larger, open areas at the moment. Check it out!
  20. Just an overhead shot from the video on their site.
