  1. Right, the Montagu will be the only one to be imploded.
  2. I've seen some overhead views of the site when I had to park at the Allen Center Garage. I can see it has a fairly sizeable footprint, but I'm just wondering as to what the overall size & capacity would be.
  3. A few photos I took earlier this afternoon of the ongoing demolition of the West Building.
  4. Just curious if this is still a viable proposal and things are being worked out or otherwise...
  5. Also added to the mix, a Red Robin restaurant which would be in front of the Cinemark theater.
  6. I think you may be talking about the old Holiday Inn, which later became the Days Inn and most recently the Heaven on Earth Inn. There's a whole thread on it here.
  7. Phase II now has a more extensive list of tenants and new "Coming Soon" signs have been placed in the past few days. They include... *Conn's *PetsMart *ULTA Cosmetics *Rack Room Shoes *Walgreens *Bright Now! Dental *FedEx Kinko's *Mattress Firm *Zales *The Sprint Store *Schlotzky's
  8. If you know where that Wachovia is, right next to 2727 that's where I was. It's looking across Kirby toward the northwest and Westheimer would be at the far-right, near the corner of the building on that side.
  9. I'm still surprised at another on that's at least 20 stories and on the eastern tip of the old proposed Shamrock Tower site at Main & Fannin. The Sterling Building, I think. Older than each of the others you mentioned (with exception to one of the Savoy buildings) as well. Always curious about that one. Anyway back on topic... The thought of that building having a prime spot in the fore of someone's view coming in from 527 or any of the streets inbound is depressing. Especially if it's going to be there for an extended period of time. Who knows? In the interim, I always try to approach DT without having to point that one out. Makes me feel better for a moment at least.
  10. Now that's intriguing... On the topic of the hotel for a second, I'd always been curious about the structural stability of the building. What were the issues in particular that emphasized this? I know vandalism has come up as a point for those that have seen it from the inside, but is there also just a lot of natural wear and tear that can't be reconciled?
  11. A brief update... The Rosenberg Police substation was installed rather quickly and has signage up at this point. The tract that I'd mentioned as the potential "Kroger Signature" site now has 2 signs, one for Dollar Tree and another for Palais Royal. The Palais Royal (originally Bealls) has been in Rosenberg for at least 25-30 years and moved from it's original location to a "new" location near the town line with Richmond about 5 years ago. The Dollar Tree once had a location in Richmond that opened around 2000 and was in a small strip center near the Wal-Mart Supercenter, though it closed relatively recently. It just seems so odd that a Palais Royal would be built right next to a Kohl's though... The Dickey's Barbecue Pit is almost complete on the inside and a GameStop and SportClips have banners over their spaces in the strip that Dickey's will be in. The land has also been cleared in the space between this strip and the Arby's. I think it will be an Auto Service Center, maybe Firestone or Bridgestone? The housing component is also coming along as well as several more of home sites are now buing built. Traffic is now allowed to move through all portions of this side of the project as well, as it had been barricaded at one of the entrances for a while.
  12. A photo from Sunday morning (11/11) There's a second building behind this one that's rising as well, but it's only up to the 3rd floor or so at this point.
  13. Yeah and before it became a Crowne Plaza, I recall it was a brown brick Holiday Inn hotel. I'm not sure what would've been beautiful or memorable about it inside or out or if it were anything else before that even. It just seemed like a hotel that would've been in any center of buisiness more than anything.
  14. I think the photos over at the official site stop in April. It's a shame since the actual structure started coming into view around August/September. Here is a photo of it from this morning.
  15. A few from me as well... The crowd leaving, maybe a block and a half from the site... And 3-4 blocks out... The air had cleared for the most part in about 10 minutes time, though my car got rained on with some dust before I got back to it. Pretty good since it was actually a few blocks across the south side of Holcombe.
  16. In today's Fort Bend Herald, it was mentioned that just within the past week, The Clay Group of Houston had purchased the 165k square foot building which has been vacant since 2003. This is great news as the building has a high profile location along TX-36 & the Southwest Freeway and has been somewhat of an eyesore since then. The structure will be redesigned inside and out and may be subdivided into as many as 15 spaces with a grocery store as the anchor. What wasn't mentioned was if the grocery store would be built within or in addition to the pre-existing structure though.
  17. An updated rendering recently posted on the developer's website of the project with the Highland Tower in the background. There are a few more in the gallery section as well.
  18. It's a parking garage. http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...ic=13285&hl
  19. Considering a few early articles regarding this building mentioned that the entire 79th floor would be an observatory which you could pay a small fee to access... That would've been awesome.
  20. Thanks! Never seen a posting frenzy as such before.
  21. There was a fairly extensive article written on the potential of four new buildings in the CityWestPlace complex out along the Beltway near Westheimer. It also went into detail about how Westchase in general is really tight in terms of vacancy rates. Here are two scans from today's paper http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/houtosme/HouConstruction/HBJCitywestbuildings.jpg http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w208/houtosme/HouConstruction/HBJCitywestbuildings2.jpg
  22. Surprised there hadn't been much of any response to this topic. It definitely stands out along Holcombe, especially with all of those cranes. These are from a week or two back
  23. Taken Sunday afternoon... The fence has been taken back from the sidewalk along the retail area and base which front Almeda Road fairly recently. Here's a couple of shots of the beginning of what will be the second tower. Jax, where are the lights placed around the building?
