  1. Unsure, but the signs are up at the place where it's supposed to be built. It is supposed to be a "SuperSport" version of the club (see this to check out what that type offers) The city is working on a lease agreement for the police department to have a storefront location somewhere in the project. That's supposed to be worked through tomorrow night at a city council meeting. The Hampton Inn is being finished up and should be open relatively shortly, which would be helpful since they've already bought space on a billboard along the freeway on the southwest side of town within the past week. On the opposite side of Reading Road from the Phase I portion, behind NTB there's some construction occuring on this piece of land. EDIT I looked at the site plan PDF, and it looks pretty much like a few run of the mill things, but the mention of a Cracker Barrel caught my attention. I know they've begun building locations off interstates within the past year or two, so it's not entirely impossible...
  2. I created the project page just to have an account of it regardless of if it is built or not, but it was sourced from the biz journal article from a few weeks ago. Really hope they have everything lined up beyond the land acquisition as well so this does get built as proposed... It would be nice to see something of that size appearing in the area, hopefully not taking the tombstone approach to residential highrises that have appeared over the past decade or so.
  3. Driving along West Dallas this morning, it looked like the bulldozers were in action on the blocks on both sides of the street. Shouldn't be too much longer until both blocks are cleared out. I'll try to get some photos soon. I don't think this has been posted, but check out this site which shows some of the outlines and leasing plans.
  4. I'm not sure how Turnberry's sales are at the moment, but their sales office is astounding. Even moreso is the fact it will be demolished at some point, given the fact it is a good quality showplace for their project. I spoke with an agent that worked with a few of the older condo projects (The Spires, Warwick Towers and a few others) in sales that was working exclusively for them at this point. They have one full sized model on the second floor of their office, "The Berkeley", and it is complete with the terrace, which is impressive in its own right. The fact they have a butler who gets you refreshements in the middle of the sales presentation... eh. That's different. Maybe it was just the agent I dealt with here, but they seemed the most attentive and at ease with answering questions of the offices for new projects I'd slipped into over the past week. Here are a couple of photos of the building model in the sales office. Apologies for no photos of the unit itself, but I was taking some notes at the time. Hard to click and jot ya know...

It will also feature childrens' activities and raffle prizes as well as carnival rides and a costume parade. 1st Annual International Festival of Fort Bend Date: 10/21/07 (Sunday) Time: 12 PM-7PM Location: Stafford Centre, 10505 Cash Rd in Stafford (See a map) Admission: FREE For more info, check out the organization's website at: http://www.if-fb.org/
  6. Here's a block-by-block look at the project from this morning... Main/Dallas/Fannin/Polk (The latest to begin construction, with the crane in action) Fannin/Dallas/San Jacinto/Polk (Pavilions Tower) San Jacinto/Dallas/Caroline/Polk (The first to top out) View from the south toward the project
  7. Sure, which ones do you want uploaded or do you want them all?
  8. A bit from today's Chronicle... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/busine...ff/5193290.html
  9. Here are some pics from when I was downtown a few hours ago. I'm not sure what of the timeline they had for moving the thing, but it looks to be sooner than later.
  10. Someone who's optimistic on the board! Yay!

  11. From today's Chron... http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/business/5189905.html
  12. Check out the first post of this thread to see a rendering of the original plan for Houston Center. I recall reading in one of the Houston Architectural Guides that if it were followed to plan, there would've been a people-mover system operating through the complex and supposedly one of the transit points would've located in the cross-bracing of the wide portion of 2 Houston Center over San Jacinto Street. That obviously didn't come to fruition and the project was scaled back. See this post from a thread I started on another unbuilt building to see a couple of maps from the early 80's which list the blocks with their respective developers. 2, 3 & 4 Houston Center are Listed.
  13. If I'm not mistaken 3 Houston Center was the original name for what's now called Fulbright Tower. When it comes to the original developers, I believe it was Cadillac Fairview who had a large stake in much of the original project. I think there were a few other developers involved (maybe Texas Eastern Transmission) but I'm not certain. Crescent later purchased the project and a surrounding garage or two a number of years later.
  14. I just looked back through my photos and I took a bunch around the building site back in July. Here they are...
  15. I thought it was essentially confirmed in this thread there WILL be a 26-story W Hotel elsewhere in town in addition to the aloft project...
  16. A quick update... The connecting roads on the Phase II portion of the project are complete and have been striped for the most part. The JC Penney will open next Friday (10/5). I'd guess the Academy will be opening soon as construction started on it before the Penney's and it looks essentially complete as well. New traffic signals have also been installed along Reading Road around Phase I to compensate for the increased traffic along that stretch and should be activated soon.
  17. Seems like the sidewalk is now blocked off along the Rusk side, and the old vendors along Main were removing the last items from their old shops this evening...
  18. It's from an old model of a previous design and location for 6 Houston Center.
  19. That's pretty much spot on, although I think 6 Houston Center is supposed to be behind the Fulbright Tower at this point. At least based on the article when it was mentioned a few weeks ago with a few of the other projects in that part of DT.
  20. I think this answers the question about the site we were all wondering about a few weeks ago in this thread.
