  2. In November, Sugar Land based Systronix announced it would be building a 100ksf facility with construction to begin in March of this year. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/morning_call/2015/11/sugar-land-manufacturer-expands-to-build-aerospace.html Meanwhile, in the past week, Croft Production of Needville and Century A/C Supply said they would be developing sites within the business park. http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2016/02/04/new-tenants-buy-land-at-growing-southwest-houston.html
  3. Rosenberg probably won't be too much longer. On my last visit, it looked pretty much done and they had now hiring signs out. Surprised it took that long to build something in that space.
  4. Since it's been a while from the last update - might as well post here. For the Phase I side: El Pollo Loco is now open in the building that previously housed the 59 Diner. Signs are up in the undeveloped area near Reading Road and Vista Drive promoting pad buildings with simple renderings near the movie theater. In the leasing plan, numerous pad sites between 6-11ksf appear close by, particularly near the intersection of Vista and Commercial Drive. It also shows a 50k space near the Cinemark with Burlington Coat Factory as the tenant. Tween merchant Justice is also listed as a proposed tenant between the Palais Royal and Kohl's. For the Phase II side: Construction is progressing on the buildings that will house the BreWingz and the First Choice ER. In the new leasing plan, the former Anna's Linens location shows a proposed site of the Pet Supermarket chain. It also shows additional pad sites along or near FM 762, with at least one proposed site near Spec's targeted for for a 36ksf 24 Hour Fitness location.
  5. Appears to be on the 33rd floor as of Tuesday anyway
  6. At least this gives a little more to the thread on the old Miyako's fate. http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/32916-miyako-off-kirby/
  7. Meant to provide this list of former Houston-area Taco Bueno locations from the December 1986-87 Greater Houston business pages. Houston 1460 Blalock 8980 Clearwood 3804 S. Gessner 8767 S. Gessner 19910 Park Row La Porte 117 SH 146 S. Pasadena 5425 Red Bluff 302 Southmore 3122 Spencer Hwy 1212 Starkey
  8. Meant to post this in the thread earlier... found this ad for a Tinsley's in Rosenberg from a 1978 phone book during my trip down there this summer. Oddly enough the directory did not mention the address but just the phone number.
  9. The Chili's in Rosenberg was also established in the community at around the same time the Home Depot opened (this was the first component of Brazos Town Center), which was a couple of years prior to the opening of the one in River Park, so there may be that to consider. The final point is something I can attest to at least anecdotally. I can tell you that on a few occasions, mostly when I've talked to people in Wharton or Needville, people mention they do make the trip to Rosenberg to that center to shop and more often to dine. I think it's just that it's something that isn't in their community and it's not terribly far. That said, I wouldn't be all too shocked to see an H-E-B store of some sort open at that space. I recall even Waco has two H-E-B Plus locations just a few miles apart, so I doubt it would be all that revolutionary to do the same in a growing area.

  11. I figured I'd start a thread to see if anyone else had any information about this possible development. In some of New Quest's marketing diagrams for Brazos Town Center, they've shown a proposed HEB at the northeast corner of the Southwest Freeway and FM 762 - directly across the road from Brazos Town Center and next door to the Del Webb community. I know that I've heard from a few local residents about plans for a store there over the past few months, but not much else as of late. Anyone?

  15. The ad says up to the late 90s, so I wouldn't guess so. I'd bite if I still lived in the area... but I already have a ton of stuff from then. Most of it is stuff I recorded when I was out or otherwise busy. People still do use blank tapes, believe it or not, so I'm sure they'll find someone eager to pick it up.
  16. Ha. March... October is pretty soon right? Anyway, I finally did get around to uploading the clip tonight... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EeSP-89m42M

  18. Does anyone have any information about Harry Shanks Chevrolet? Found a commercial of theirs on a mid 80's tape. One of the cheaper and more desperate ones out there - basically came off as "we're spending money to just become competitive!". This dealership was located at Hwy 6 & Beechnut, later becoming Mike Hall Chevrolet and is now part of the Autonation group.
  19. I see that it debuted tonight. Based on the photos it looks like a more HD-friendly design as well as a fair amount brighter. Pretty contemporary look, just hope it holds up over the years.
  20. The Medical Office Building is being finished out at this time, and the new hospital tower recently topped out.

  22. Based on my last visit, the story on this shopping center is likely to continue in a positive direction. The old Cinemark Cinema 8 has been converted to a Planet Fitness which, by far, has the most activity of any site in the center. Haven't seen that many cars in front of that space since it was a movie theater, and that's been at least 10 years (not really counting the time as Star Cinema Grill - that was a dud if ever there was one). The largest space, the one where the Randalls and later, Kroger was, is undergoing renovation. No coming soon signs to be seen, however there was a fair amount of work going on. The entire center has been repainted. The best news (IMHO) is just past that is a cluster of shops that have been in the center for 20-25 years. All of them are still in business based on what I could see and still manage to fill their respective spaces in the parking lot. Interestingly enough, the Rose-Rich shopping center across the street is also undergoing renovations at this time. Not sure which one came first, but I'd say they need it more than this one. Their sole anchor tenant, Palais Royal, closed in the past couple of years and all of those resources were sent to the store in Brazos Town Center.
  23. I meant to ask this when I was still in the area, but I saw a tower crane near this intersection, assembling a fairly substantial structure. It appeared to be a bit behind the Springhill Suites that was completed recently, and they were to the 2nd or 3rd level when I drove by. Was never able to see any signage. Anyone know what this project is?
