  1. Starting tonight, POST Houston will be having their own Christmas lights display with their “Winter Wonderlawn”. They’ll be decking out the skylawn in tons of lights/displays and a 25’ tree! They are also going to host a “Holiday VIBE” market. I may check this one out! Here’s their event page It’s gonna be on Sat, 12/10 from 11am-6pm in the X atrium
  2. It doesn’t look to be on the scale of ours, but it’s decently sized. Our tunnels system is huge and really cool, imo. I know they’re not everyone’s favorite on here, but I feel like there’s lots of untapped potential there and I’m sure there’s a way to make them coexist with street-level uses. I like the tunnels for when the weather is awful or too hot. Walkable art tunnels would be so lit! I had a look at what they’ve done in OKC and I love the idea! They have theirs neatly color coded and they’ve got some nice murals. We have tons of tunnels and I bet we could get amazingly creative with ours
  3. Not gonna lie, that “Fresh” sign is giving me ransom note vibes :p
  4. There are actually a few projects utilizing utility ROWs that are in-progress or done, so I’d say the likelihood is probably pretty high!
  5. Wow, they are flying! They’re really working to get this one up quickly, it seems like. Awesome!
  6. Looks like Mixed-Use Apartments/Retail/Office :) I’m not sure what the orientation is? Maybe there’s been a clear site plan somewhere
  7. We did some Black Friday shopping there and we parked at the transit center and took the BRT. The parking situation was out of control at the mall. We timed it really well and didn’t have to wait too long. It was cold and rainy but it worked out nicely
  8. I have to wonder if Cagle pulling those no show stunts cost him his spot. It really was not a great look, and I’m sure there were Republican people who protest-voted against him. Beto O’Rourke is just a lackluster candidate for TX imho. I think people just don’t care for him all that much. He’s lost several elections now, and I feel like the Democrats would do well to focus resources into bringing up a different candidate if they want a hope of flipping the governor’s race. Del Moral Mealer vs Hidalgo being that close is something I’m really interested to hear more about. O’Rourke carried Harris county, yet the county judge race was much closer- does that mean there were a sizeable number of O’Rourke voters who voted for del Moral Mealer over Hidalgo? Actually, looking at the results, a lot of the judge races were quite close.
  9. Interesting. 1801 Smith is, I believe, another brookfield property- it’s the one currently being converted to multifamily. I wonder if they’re going to do a study with the DRA on converting this one- maybe multifamily and reno some of it to higher-end office space, like what they’re doing to Esperson. I feel like this side of DT needs more units. 1801 Smith is gonna help with that for sure. 1600 Smith is a cool postmodern building. Even though I don’t always care for pomo architecture, I like the look of this one. It reminds me of something we’d make out of lego when we were kids ..
  10. I can’t wait to see more aerial shots. It was absolutely packed! I wonder how many people ended up being there?
  11. Quite a few districts will be closed. I know for sure HISD, Alief, Aldine, FBISD, and LCISD. I think I heard CFISD and Spring too. HCC is closing as well Who all’s going to the parade? I’m super hyped. I didn’t get to go in 2017, thanks to Harvey reasons displacing us and making things difficult :/ I’m so glad I’m gonna get a chance this time!!
  12. I’ve always felt like Houston develops more like an Asian city: not one central core, but many. I think it’s really been to our advantage, and I’m really interested to see what pops up next.
  13. For real I’m always blown away at how much less crappy our surface lots could be if they just planted more trees in them.
  14. Yeah, I was gonna say, isn’t it back?
  15. Has anyone been? I love checking out new ramen spots!
  16. @samagon I think you make some very good points. Reading over the plan, there are obviously differences too with the Eastern Glades versus what the final product was. In any case I am very interested to see how it progresses! They did such an amazing job with the Eastern Glades that I can’t wait to see the new phases of the park! That land bridge is gonna be so cool
  17. I looked on the master plan but couldn’t quite get a good idea for how the top of the land bridges are going to look. Those circular features on top of the bridges(with what appear to be soil going in)- are those going to be some sort of seating/gathering space? in any case, great shots, @cityliving! It’s hard to see all the progress on that area from street level. It’s great to see them from above!
  18. I just wanna know how it could be structurally sound after all this time. Also there’s a forest springing up on the roof. New rooftop vertical park when?😎
  19. Is the breezeblock-looking cladding going to extend up the structure? I like the look of it
  20. I think METRO wants to work on the Inner Katy BRT regardless of the HSR project (on their project map I think the extension from NWTC to Northwest Mall is only shown as conceptual) because 1) it’ll be another (maybe faster?) route into Downtown from Uptown and also serve people living along the I-10 corridor. I believe The University Line stops at Wheeler Transit Center and you have to transfer to the Red Line. Inner Katy doesn’t require any transferring. They badly want that connection- one of the specific reasons they’ve given is because they want to link the hotel capacity between Uptown and the east side of Downtown (so…GRB, basically) since the BRT extension will also run along the Green/Purple Line alignment downtown and to St Emmanuel St without any transfers). Interesting, thank you for the link!
  21. That’s a really neat-looking building. The pool looks really cool!
