  1. To confound matters more, this post from a director at the Ion says the Ion District is growing from 300k sqf to 3M. https://www.linkedin.com/posts/joeysanchez_ionaf-ionhouston-iondistrict-activity-7064970171894935555-SVp0?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop
  2. Previous Renderings: Building approved for construction this week:
  3. St. Austin's in Austin did the same thing and, in addition to new parking, they got a new school building, rectory, and gym out of it. St. Mary's in College Station has a similar long-term plan in place. https://staustin.org/our-property-development-journey
  4. These will both complement the inevitable Buffalo Bayou Park canyon that'll be the granddaddy of them all so nicely!
  5. No photo but I saw yesterday the concrete tilt walls are going up!
  6. Highlights from a Community Impact article shared in the Space Center Houston thread: Spaceport expects to break ground on Phase II infrastructure in 12-18 months at a cost of $80 million across 300 acres; it will include space for a hotel, restaurant, and retail Phase II will also include "the aerospace institute" Spaceport in "serious talks" with three potential new tenants (if these all pan out, depending on who they are, Houston could leapfrog other cities' commercial space clusters) Axiom Space and Intuitive Machines will have ribbon cuttings by the end of September Officials are considering finding an investor to build a multi-tenant building for smaller companies to locate without having to build their own buildings https://communityimpact.com/houston/pearland-friendswood/development/2023/05/15/ready-to-launch-houston-spaceport-museum-plan-expansions-as-astronauts-prep-lunar-mission/ Also, NASA recently delivered a former Space Shuttle Multi-Purpose Logistics Module (MPLM, used to transport cargo to the ISS) to Axiom Space's spaceport facility via Super Guppy. This module will be outfitted for use on the Axiom Station. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/space/article/nasa-super-guppy-houston-commercial-space-station-17920584.php
  7. North Padre Island development is taking off! Whitecap North Padre Island, a 240 acre community with single family residential, a town center, and hotel is underway. https://whitecaplivingnpi.com/masterplan/ https://www.kiiitv.com/article/news/local/whitecap-north-padre-island-development-to-break-ground/503-f3f5806e-e4c1-4243-bc82-aa3aafab6f4a Lake Padre, a 102 acre development on the other side of 22 will begin construction towards the end of the year. https://ewscripps.brightspotcdn.com/f8/8c/3793f409463b80ccb65a6ce3de28/presentation-lake-padre-development.pdf
  8. New project for the corner of University and Wellborn. Love that College Station is finally getting a dense, urban neighborhood!
  9. I actually don't mind the location. I think activating more sides of the ballpark than just the front is better for downtown.
  10. The Archdiocese is adding a plaza aaaaaand… (get ready for it) surface parking 🥲 https://files.ecatholic.com/2114/documents/2023/2/WhitePaper_AFP_022223.pdf?t=1677278550000
  11. Bush Library Expansion Underway: Building for 4141 Locomotive and Marine One Helicopter https://www.kbtx.com/2023/03/10/construction-continues-new-building-exhibit-bush-library-museum/
  12. I wish they would've pushed to make it a full cap from Andrews St. to W Dallas in this agreement. That would've been a very concrete and beneficial addition that could've been pursued.
  13. We're in another era of major transformation for campus. The great thing about this phase of campus transformation is the elimination of parking lots! Notes from the December 2022 Transportation Services Advisory Committee: 2.1. President Banks Town Hall Meetings – These are some of the items to come out of these meetings that will have impact on Transportation Services: 2.1.1. Small Animal Hospital – This will not be too impactful to parking. There would be a potential expansion of Lot 101 & Lot 24 in that area for parking. 2.1.2. Aplin Center – The timeline for this project is aggressive for next fall. This would be impactful for Transportation Services and the 12th Man Foundation. Expecting to lose Lot 61 completely 2.1.3. Performing Arts Center – Will be located at the corner of Bizzell Street and George Bush Drive. This entire area is scheduled for re-development. This is very impactful as there is no plan to add or replace parking. Expecting to lose Lots 40b-c. Also, keep in mind there is a new Corp dorm slated for 40d. 2.1.4. Museum/Cultural Corridor - Possibly Fan Field area. This is currently trailing other projects and would be less of an impact on parking. Red are these projects that previously did not have locations confirmed. Blue are additional future, proposed projects from the capital plan. https://transport.tamu.edu/WebFS/Transport/TSAC/minutes/2022/2022-12-07.pdf
  14. Additional Northgate updates: Non-photo updates: 301 University - Former Gas Station: Demolition underway or completed, destined for high-rise student housing 509 University - Former FedEx: Being marketed for high-rise student housing 315 College Main - The Rev (Photo not by me) 415 College Main - The Everett: I've been told this is under construction but I have not been back to BCS to see it for myself. 203 Church Street: Early stages, I believe they got a height waiver from the city to go taller than the limit. St. Mary's new church My speculation/hopes for what's up next: 201 Boyett (Former Christian Science Center): Half of this block is owned by the company behind the Rev and 401 First St, I believe. The Christian Science Center is being used as the Rev's leasing office. This whole block could become a great mixed-use high-rise student housing building. 306/308 College Main - A&M Methodist parking lot: It's got to be just a matter of time before A&M Methodist partners with a student housing developer on that lot. Casa Del Sol: Would love to see these blocks redeveloped St. Mary's rear lots: There are still plans to partner with a developer for mixed use housing. Bryan side of Northgate: It's only a matter of time before urban development creeps into Bryan from Northgate!
  15. BigShots Aggieland is open: Legends Events Center is also open: Next up is a potential parking garage with retail and a trolley connecting to downtown Bryan and Northgate:
  16. This is a great development and I want 50 more scattered around the interior of the loop. Partially because I love seeing NIMBY's complain about it on Facebook, but way more because it's a great-looking development that adds the density our city needs.
  17. Another lakefront development! Townhomes will be built next to Marina Del Sol in League City. I'm glad developers are starting to see that Clear Lake is the area's greatest amenity. Urban development surrounding the lake is my dream! https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/development/2023/03/01/league-city-city-council-approves-rezoning-for-new-townhouse-development/?utm_campaign=Impact%3A Bay Area&utm_medium=email&_hsmi=248565804&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--KwmvM0V9vlU4Inn7WQKJi4lD5udTiwjsBcIgWRpfNCIAjHaNZrdkEOimE4oZRuM5nWpDg7ZpIqU2kPRtfEbEqHwPmTQ&utm_content=248565804&utm_source=hs_email
  18. The Taylor Lake Village development had appeared stalled for a while but the rear buildings on the northern tract are up to the third floor. The single family houses are also continuing construction. The southern parcel is finishing utility and road construction.
  19. https://communityimpact.com/houston/pearland-friendswood/transportation/2023/02/14/txdot-announces-start-of-grand-parkway-expansion-project-from-league-city-to-alvin/ Half of Segment B, from I-45 in League City to 2403 in Alvin, will have a construction contract awarded in 2025 with delivery by 2030. The remainder of the project, to 288 will be a separate project.
  20. I think that's the master plan for the property across Waugh (I don't think we've seen a plan for that before). Based on the address and property shape this doesn't look like the future main portion of Buffalo Heights (The Memorial Trails property).
  21. This is underway and below is the location as the address is a bit ambiguous.
  22. New taxiway to begin construction this year and two large prospects are looking at the Spaceport for facilities. https://communityimpact.com/houston/bay-area/development/2023/01/31/new-tenants-technologies-coming-to-houston-spaceport-in-2023/
  23. This is to support the new training ship that will arrive in two years. https://www.tamug.edu/newsroom/2021articles/NSMV-Lone-Star-State.html
