  1. As of July 22, 3502 S Shepherd Dr is leased. https://www.colliers.com/en/properties/leased-second-generation-restaurant-space/usa-3502-s-shepherd-drive-houston-tx-77098/usa1103231 A new entity filing seems to suggest a Dallas-based coffee shop and cafe may have recently leased the space. La La Land (La La Land Kind Cafe) may have plans to open a location here. Last week, the company filed an entity for LaLaLand TX 3502 S. Shepherd, LLC. Recently, La La Land opened its first Houston area outpost in the Heights at 600 N Shepherd Dr, Suite 140. Another cafe is opening soon at 888 Westheimer in the Montrose Collective development.
  2. The 3502 S Shepherd Dr property occupied by Cloud 10 Creamery was up for lease in March. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/3502-S-Shepherd-Dr-Houston-TX/25153084/ https://www.colliers.com/en/properties/for-lease-second-generation-restaurant-space/usa-3502-s-shepherd-drive-houston-tx-77098/usa1103231 Brochure: https://colliershouston.s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/property/3502S.ShepherdDrFlyer(1103231).pdf
  3. I'm not familiar with the history of 3502 S. Shepherd Dr., but in recent years, hair salon All Decked Out operated here. Local ice cream shop Cloud 10 Creamery later leased the space. Photos of All Decked Out from Swamplot: http://swamplot.com/cloud-10-creamery-number-3-heads-to-shepherd-and-colquitt-corner/2018-09-10/
  4. 3502 South Shepherd Drive is located in Montrose on the corner of Colquitt St.
  5. Does anyone know if Spotlight Karaoke at 2700 Milam in Midtown Centre is closing? Or has it closed? I have not visited this part of Midtown in a while. The most recent site plan for Midtown Centre indicates Spotlight Karaoke's 3,700 sf unit is available for lease. Also, the updated site plan shows Les Givral's expansion. The restaurant is expanding, taking over partial space previously occupied by Red Pier. Here is the site plan from last year's listing for comparison:
  6. Midtown Centre, the retail center at 2700-2704 Milam St, is being renovated, according to materials for the property. Marketing materials also seem to indicate the center will be renamed from Midtown Centre to Midtown Market. https://moseleycommercial.com/listings/2700-milam/ https://moseleycommercial.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/04/MilamINFO.pdf
  7. I didn't respond earlier because I didn't want to derail the discussion. I don't know where else I can address this, so, I suppose I'll reply here: I am very aware Houston Chronicle has limited reporters devoted to in-depth and investigative reporting. However, following up on tips, other news sources, and the like is also part of a reporter's job. Most of the reporters for the Chronicle have lots of contacts who are willing to share information about upcoming projects. And even if they don't, being that they're the Chronicle gets them further into the door than other news organizations (with the exception of news stations). Also, very aware much of the news on Houston Chronicle comes from other Hearst publications and Associated Press. Still, that has zero to do with the Chronicle's dining, business, and real estate staff's local coverage. I keep up with dining and nightlife news around the country, and respectfully, I disagree with your assertion about the Chronicle reporting a lot of local dining news. The Chronicle does well with recipes, its barbecue features, and Alison Cook's reviews (though its dining coverage on its paywall-free site Chron.com has become slightly better under the leadership of food editor Emma Balter). However, its coverage of food and beverage trends, new restaurants, restaurant closures, upcoming chefs and bartenders, the pop-up restaurant scene, new food trucks, and more is severely lacking. If it's not an inner loop eatery or bar with a big name involved, chances are there will be zero to little coverage about it. And if there is coverage, it's usually reported months or years later Case in point: the Turkey Leg Hut. I kept informing Houston Chronicle and Eater Houston about it long before the restaurant's move from Washington Avenue to Almeda and they wouldn't cover it. They only covered it once Hollywood's African-American stars began dining there and sharing their experiences on social media. The same goes with press releases, which is about 98% of what Chronicle's food editor Greg Morago mainly reports. I never said or implied the Chronicle's feature pieces weren't great. The features are wonderful and why I'm still subscribed to the digital paper. But this also goes back to my first point: Houston Chronicle has limited reporters devoted to in-depth and investigative reporting. It's not surprising in this new era of shrinking newsrooms. Although there are few tasked with in-depth and investigative reporting, business, real estate, and especially dining staff could publish more local and timely news. Even more features, be it weekly or twice a month, would be great.
  8. Yep. If you scroll up several posts, I uploaded the site plan for 95 Tuam in early July. The site plan shows Ham Cycles and its location in the Fairview District. 👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
  9. A search for NLA GCH Houston, LLC indicates the entity is connected to Net Lease Alliance. It will be interesting seeing what becomes of this Dave & Buster property. I have a lot of fond memories from the 90's to the late 2000's. I recall seeing an entity tied to Capstone Houston Group last year. The address of this property is included in the entity... well, only the address number. I wonder if they're planning a nightlife concept at 6010 Richmond Ave? Capstone operates a few clubs and other nightlife venues on Richmond Avenue. Off the top of my head, I can only think of Bar Rosa and Parma. Bar Rosa is in the Mesa Building on the corner of Richmond Ave and Fountain View. The group took over Parma last year, the bar & grill/nightclub where Barry's Pizza was located on Richmond Ave (Houston-based hospitality company Eighty Six'd originally owned and operated the business). Other nightlife concepts from Capstone Houston Group include Space, Seaside Lounge, and Wyld Chld.
  10. The post below is about this property: Replacing Rose Gold at 2301 Main St, Suite 200 is a nightclub or supperclub (corner of Main and Hadley). When I searched Google Maps, I found a listing for a place named Ratio. It's described as a place for dining, cocktails, and hookah. Ratio sounds like it could be a place offering "vibe dining," similar to the concept of a supperclub. Think places like Bisou, Kiss, and Thirteen. However, their social media and website gives the impression of a nightclub. There is a video of remodeling progress on their Instagram. Rose Gold's website suggests Ratio is a new nightlife concept from the same owners as Rose Gold. I think the owners are Capstone Houston Group. Other nightlife concepts from Capstone include Space, Wyld Chld, and Bar Rosa. The group also took over Parma last year, the bar & grill/nightclub where Barry's Pizza was located (Houston-based hospitality company Eighty Six'd originally owned and operated the business). https://ratiohouston.com https://instagram.com/ratiohtx
  11. Goode Company sent press releases formally announcing Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina at 1801 Yale. From an article today on Houston Business Journal: "Goode Company Restaurants has confirmed which concept it will open in the Heights. The Houston company announced July 19 that the restaurant will be a Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina, as previous filings had indicated. An opening date has not been finalized yet..." https://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2022/07/19/goode-company-kitchen-cantina-heights-hiring.html
  12. I don't doubt those problems were issues for Barkley's owners, but according to yesterday's announcement, the current concept wasn't sustainable.
  13. Lick (aka Lick Honest Ice Creams) is indeed opening a scoop shop at Braes Heights shopping center. The ice cream parlor is shown on Braes Heights' most recent site plan. This is the third known Lick Honest Ice Creams location opening in the Houston area. As previously discussed, One is set to open soon in the Autry Park development and the other opens in the East River mixed-use development in 2023. https://properties.brixmor.com/p/retail-real-estate/Houston-TX-77025/braesheights https://properties.brixmor.com/property/output/document/view/id:63393 On an unrelated note: While reading through this thread, I have noticed there are two different topics being discussed here. The initial topic was about the Braes Heights neighborhood. Somehow, years later, the thread and the title was changed to reflect the Braes Heights retail center. Maybe someone will consider separating this thread since there are two different topics of discussion? It may be helpful to put posts about Braes Heights the retail center in a separate thread. @Triton @Urbannizer @Highrise Tower
  14. Does anyone have insight as to whether or not Atlanta chef Ford Fry is leasing space in the Park Place River Oaks development? I noticed the entity Park Place Houston Little Rey, LLC registered last month. Little Rey is a casual Tex-Mex inspired restaurant focused on wood-roasted meats. The menu is mostly composed of tacos and Mexican beers. https://www.littlerey.com/
  15. More details on Jethro's Backyard, the bar & grill coming to 95 Tuam St in the Fairview District. According to the article, construction is slated to begin next month. If all goes well, this could open in early 2023. https://houston.eater.com/2022/7/18/23268439/los-angeles-restaurateurs-houston-return-cocktail-bar-jethros-backyard-tmidtown-openings
  16. According to Google Maps. Argentinian restaurant Little Patagonia will open soon at 5393 Westheimer Rd, Ste B. It's one of several tenants at shopping center Uptown Collection. Uptown Collection is the group of retail businesses located at 5363 Westheimer Rd - 5395 Westheimer Rd.
  17. The group behind local poke restaurant Ono Poke is opening a new concept at Summit Plaza. Aburi will be located at 3800 Southwest Fwy, Ste 104. It's moving into the former home of Michiru Sushi. The Instagram page associated with the restaurant does not provide details about the concept. However, going off the name, it could be a Japanese restaurant dedicated to flame-seared sushi. https://www.instagram.com/aburihtx/
  18. This not a restaurant from the UK. It's a local restaurant from hospitality group Kinori Group. There is a TABC notice posted at the Shops at Upper Kirby for a restaurant named Norigami. I don't know if this will be the brick-and-mortar location for pop-up restaurant Norigami or if it's something else. CultureMap reported Norigami the pop-up restaurant is slated to open its permanent location in Bellaire. But 2715 Bissonnet isn't in Bellaire. So, I don't know. Hopefully, we'll find out what's in store soon.
  19. From another topic regarding Barkely's, the bar & grill with dogs in mind at 2300 Louisiana: Hadley Icehouse on Instagram https://www.instagram.com/hadleyicehouse2022/
  20. This is a marketing video for Harlow District at West Dallas uploaded in April. The address listed for the development is 2817 W Dallas St. It seems Harlow District will include the former site of the Printing Museum at 1324 W Clay St. It will also include a warehouse at 1214 Joe Annie St. https://player.vimeo.com/video/700605663 Screenshots from the video: 789797105_HarlowDistrict.mp4
  21. It appears the parcels located at 2817 W Dallas St, 2701 W Dallas St, and 1011 La Rue may be more than restaurants. As noted in the above post, TKG Holdings (the Kirby Group) and Oxberry Group established the entity Harlow District LLC in May. The same month, trademark filings connected to the entity were registered. Those filings were Harlow District and Harlow District at West Dallas. Description for Harlow District at West Dallas' trademark registration states the following: Harlow District at West Dallas trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of leasing of real estate in the nature of apartments, office space, bar and restaurants, and shopping center space; Leasing of real estate; Real estate management; Real estate management of commercial, residential, mixed-used, and shopping center properties; Real estate management services relating to shopping centers; Shopping center services, namely, rental of shopping center space. So, Harlow District at West Dallas (or may be named Harlow District) is a partnership venture between Oxberry Group and TKG Holdings. It is possible this could be a collection of buildings for retail businesses. Another possibility is a mixed-use development that could include offices and/or residential, plus retail. As mentioned a few posts up, Nino's may remain operational at Harlow District at West Dallas. But entity filings seem to indicate Grappino's Di Nino and Vincent's could be on the chopping block. A concept possibly replacing Grappino's Di Nino was announced earlier this week on Instagram (more about in above posts). There is a website for Harlow District at West Dallas; however, it is set to private. The contact page is visible. Shown on the contact page is the location, which lines up with the addresses 2817 W Dallas St, 2701 W Dallas St, and 1011 La Rue. Also listed, the developers: Oxberry Group and TKG Holdings. I suspect additional details will be revealed in the coming months. https://harlowdistrict.com https://harlowdistrict.com/contact
  22. A slight correction regarding the group/groups purchasing the the parcels located at 2817 W Dallas St, 2701 W Dallas St, and 1011 La Rue: TKG Holdings, the real estate arm of the Kirby Group, isn't the only buyer of the West Dallas street property. Houston-based development company Oxberry Group appears to be involved with the sale too. An entity for AGH MM, LLC was filed in May. It is tied to Oxberry Group. The same month, W Dallas Interest, LLC (TKG Holdings) and AGH MM, LLC (Oxberry Group) established the entity Harlow District LLC.
  23. In regards to Katami - the possible dining or nightlife concept that might replace Vincent's restaurant at 2701 W Dallas St - an entity filing offers a few clues. TKG Holdings registered the entity Vincent HTX LLC in May, listing local restaurateur Yun Cheng as manager. Cheng is the proprietor of hospitality company the Azuma Group (I think he's still involved the company). Restaurants operating under the hospitality company's umbrella include Izakaya, Kata Robata, and Soma Sushi. Upon first notice of Katami, I thought this could be a Japanese dining concept. Cheng's involvement seems to hint Katami may indeed be a Japanese restaurant. Hopefully, details will follow in the coming months.
  24. Yep! Posted a confirmation of the concept coming last month:
