  1. Instead of Sora Sushi, the name of the sushi restaurant coming soon to Stomping Grounds (1223 W 34th St, Ste C-500) is Himari. The owners of the restaurant are the same: the team behind Handies Douzo, Kokoro, and Aiko. Himari has an Instagram account for anyone who wants to follow for updates. https://instagram.com/himarihtx
  2. I haven't traveled downtown in a while, so I don't know when Lit Chicken closed their food stall at Finn Hall. I enjoyed their food and hope it resurfaces in the future as Low Tide has (I think a brick-and-mortar of Low Tide may open soon in either League City or Spring Branch). I also miss Oddball Eats. Hopefully, Finn Hall's operators can figure out how to draw more people in. It has potential. A Hawaiian-inspired bento box stall opened this year named Maui Bento. Has anyone tried anything from their menu?
  3. Recent posts about Finn Hall found in another thread. Finn Hall is the food hall at 712 Main St inside the Jones on Main.
  4. Thanks for the update! However, my comment was moreso a response to your question about what's possibly planned for parts or all of the lots at 1503 Westheimer-1513 Westheimer. I think the Taco Stand is planned for the lots since Bermudez and Pak have plans to open a Montrose outpost.
  5. The associated business name tied to White Oaks Eatery LLC is My Old House Cafe. I am still uncertain if this will be transformed into a neighborhood restaurant. However, the entity filing seems to indicate it could be a dining business. I suppose time will tell.
  6. Yes, this will be a self serve bar. The feature was reported last year in the Leader (though, Benny Thunders isn't the first self-pour bar in Houston: "...Benny Thunders will be one of the first self-pour establishments in Greater Houston." https://www.theleadernews.com/real_estate/two-upcoming-bars-have-heights-neighbors-on-edge/article_d1a17fe8-5b45-11eb-9290-bbe2bad038f8.html Also, Benny Thunders states this in their Instagram bio: "An upscale Tap House consisting of 60 self pour taps with a daily rotating food truck program."
  7. It's four buildings on four land parcels. The lots are located at 1503 Westheimer, 1505 Westheimer, 1509 Westheimer, and 1513 Westheimer as posted above by Ross. I don't know if all four lots will be one dining concept from Shawn Bermudez or if it will be two. But Bermudez and business partner Matthew Pak are opening a second location of the Taco Stand in Montrose. There aren't any construction filings, business filings, or alcohol permits yet indicating this. I think after all the buildings are demolished, all or part of the sites will become home to the Taco Stand.
  8. Sale listings of 1505 Westheimer, 1509 Westheimer, and 1513 Westheimer from 2021. As noted several posts up, the lots were purchased by Shawn Bermudez in late 2021, along with 1503 Westheimer. Bermudez owns The Burger Joint, Pistolero's, The Taco Stand, and Present Company. 1505 Westheimer Rd https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1505-Westheimer-Rd-Houston-TX/23760476 1509 Westheimer https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1509-Westheimer-Rd-Houston-TX/23069781/ 1513 Westheimer https://www.davis-commercial.com/property/1509-1513-westheimer-rd https://drive.google.com/file/d/1kYCeIZdiGnvHsucYrRkIB8mV3B3rpohy/view?usp=sharing
  9. Sale listings of 1503 Westheimer from 2021. The land was purchased by Shawn Bermudez in late 2021. 10. A video of the renovation so far for forthcoming bar and lounge Norwood. This is replacing Midtown Lodge at 2910 Crawford St. The video was posted a few days ago on Instagram by one of the owners. https://i.imgur.com/5I7xGIF.mp4
  11. The Leader reported an update on the arrival of Cherry Block, estimated to open later this summer. "According to a Facebook message from the restaurant, Cherry Block Craft Butcher & Texas Kitchen currently hopes to open in the development at 1223 W. 34th St. Suite A100 by early August. Owner Felix Florez originally had plans to open in November 2021 and then July 2022." https://www.theleadernews.com/food_drink/nibbles-and-sips-reata-cellars-winery-opening-in-heights/article_a23ff0a4-fb53-11ec-9f9f-6bfb991efdd3.html
  12. The former site of Midtown Lodge at 2910 Crawford Street will become a bar or lounge. The proprietors of steakhouse Gatsby's at 4319 Montrose Blvd (also operated former Montrose lounges Victor and Her) are opening a nightlife concept on the property. The name of the lounge is Norwood. It may be part cocktail bar and lounge.
  13. Posts about 2910 Crawford found in other threads on the forum:
  14. 2910 Crawford St in Midtown was previously home to Midtown Lodge. Photos of 2910 Crawford St from Google Maps, snapped May 2022:
  15. I think the building at 540 Frasier St may undergo renovations (or renovations are ongoing) for an upcoming business. The name shown for the property on county records matches an entity for White Oak Eatery LLC filed earlier this year.
  16. The lot at 540 Frasier St is on the corner of Frasier St and White Oak Dr in the Greater Heights area. It's across from the strip center at 2914 White Oak Dr that's home to whiskey bar Permission. Photos of 540 Frasier on Google Maps, taken May 2022. 17. Mini dessert shop Margaux Button recently closed at Railway Heights Market, 8200 Washington Ave. This was a concept that originally operated out of Bravery Chef Hall. Replacing Margaux Button is a new deli concept from the same operators. The deli's name is Butter on Bacon. Most of the menu from Margaux Button carried over to the new concept. The food stall also offers sandwiches, salads, and artisanal pickles. https://butteronbaconhtx.com https://instagram.com/butteronbaconhtx
  18. Recently, new food stall Takitoland opened at Railway Heights Market. Takitoland is a street taco concept from the operator of Tablitas, the charcuterie shop at Railway Heights Market. https://instagram.com/takitolandhtx
  19. It's sad Berryhill is closing its Post Oak Plaza location, but not surprising following last month's announcement regarding Nando's Peri Peri entering the Houston market. The former Berryhill location at Post Oak Plaza is becoming home to one of several Nando's Peri Peri restaurants planned for the Houston area. The latest addition to Post Oak Plaza's tenant roster was reported last month. Although none of the articles specifically stated Nando's is taking over the Berryhill unit, the reported square footage seems to align with Berryhill's location. Houston Chronicle's reporting: Nando’s Peri-Peri, a South African restaurant, has announced it will open its flagship Texas location at 1751 Post Oak, in spring 2023. The 3,200-square-foot space in Levcor’s Post Oak Plaza will be designed by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture with colors and textures that reflect its African origins as well as original South African contemporary Art. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/food-culture/restaurants-bars/article/nandos-chicken-texas-17227592.php Plus there is a Google Map listing for Nando's Peri Peri's forthcoming location at Post Oak Plaza. The address is the same as Berryhill: 1717 Post Oak Blvd, Suite C. https://goo.gl/maps/2NUXB5VuQBTRYMyY9
  20. Mixed Emotions Fine Arts was the previous occupant at 95 Tuam. I don't know if the business owned the lot before relocating or not. However, SFT Investments owns the lot now. 95 Tuam, 90 Tuam, 2405 Genesee, and much of the surrounding properties (like Fusion Eats forthcoming location, the lots where Cuchara and Max's Wine Dive are located) are owned by SFT Investments. To my knowledge, those SFT Investments owned properties all part of SFT Investments' Fairview District.
  21. Apologies for the wrong name of the business moving into the 1401 Montrose building of former Pronto Cucinino. The name isn't Carmalito but Comalito. It turns out I've been following the restaurant's Instagram for a while, not realizing this is the business opening soon at 1401 Montrose. According to the logo on Comalito's Instagram, this will become a Mexican restaurant. I am uncertain if this will center on a specific regional Mexican cuisine or offer fares ranging from various regions of Mexico. The logo also seems to indicate this will be a taqueria-type concept. Comalito is the latest restaurant from Picos Hospitality. The group's other restaurant includes Arnaldo Richard's Picos located in the Upper Kirby area. https://instagram.com/comalito.htx
  22. Cle Group launched an Instagram page for Oasis, their new bar & grill / club concept planned for 1119 W 20th St in Shady Acres. The bio lists the name as Oasis in the Heights. The bar & grill will be built from the ground up on the adjoining lots at 1115 W 20th St and 1119 W 20th St. Both sites were previously home to Fredy Cars and Fredy Used Car Sales. 23. Local Sichuan restaurant Cooking Girl opened last week at 1717 Montrose Blvd. Photos of the building from the restaurant's Instagram. https://instagram.com/cookinggirlmontrose
