  1. Somewhat recent photos of 1702 W 34th St in Oak Forest. The lot previously housed El Mante Tire Shop. Renovations began around 2019 or 2020. I don't know if this will become a retail strip center or another type of commercial business. Photos from Google Maps, April 2022
  2. Thanks. Who knows why it appears there hasn't been noticeable changes, but I hope it comes together soon.
  3. Updated listing and leasing materials for 3110-3112 White Oak Dr. The properties are owned by Ancorian. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/3110-3112-White-Oak-Dr-Houston-TX/26301884 https://images1.loopnet.com/d2/tV7tG49NQ8fh8eAIwQMZkVj7S-tSphh1Hc6lgujm-rk/0 3110 White Oakflyer4compressed FINAL.pdf
  4. According to the article, the property being discussed here is 3110 White Oak Dr and 3112 White Oak Dr: "The proposed office building would be built on a 25,000-square-foot parcel at 3110 White Oak, just west of the popular Onion Creek restaurant and bar." I doubt plans are still in play for a possible low-rise or high-rise office building. Ancorian purchased 3110 White Oak Dr and 3112 White Oak Dr in 2017. The Houston-based real estate firm does a great job of adaptive reuse of buildings. I think their projects are cohesive with the neighborhoods they're located. Since updates and other discussions about properties or developments are encouraged, I thought I'd reup this topic with a few updated photos of the property. The photos are from a recent listing. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/3110-3112-White-Oak-Dr-Houston-TX/26301884 https://images1.loopnet.com/d2/tV7tG49NQ8fh8eAIwQMZkVj7S-tSphh1Hc6lgujm-rk/0 3110 White Oakflyer4compressed FINAL.pdf Photos of 3110 White Oak Drive

This was uploaded to Virgata Property Company's website. https://www.virgataproperty.com/portfolio/pscdpkzdowt0v4ck6uf59rya4xqh2w-xxrrs-dfyjk-4xmdx-e3xtj-afa2x-mtcth-f3seb-w6scz-42hmk-r6jt9-8m467-gjz6k-n9am6-wb2ts-j7n7w-dnstb-askj3-hb2ea
  6. Terry Black's Barbecue purchased the lots at 1329 N Shepherd Dr and 1331 N Shepherd in late 2021. County records lists 3L Shepherd LLC as the owner of both properties. 3L Shepherd LLC is connected to the owners of Terry Black's Barbecue restaurant.
  7. Last summer, this was posted in the Houston Heights Foodies group: "Terry Black's Barbecue is bringing its Central Texas-style smoked goodness to Houston. The barbecue spot will be located at 1329 N Shepherd Dr, which once housed A & C Glass Co." A few days after the post, Eater Houston followed up with Terry Black's Barbecue: "Permit applications filed with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts indicate that Terry Black’s has plans to open a Houston location at 1329 Shepherd Drive. When reached for comment on Wednesday by Eater, co-owner Mark Black said that the restaurant is indeed exploring property options in Houston, but no deal has been signed just yet. In addition to the Shepherd Drive location, Black says that his team has also looked at spaces in the Heights and EaDo. " Terry Black's Barbecue is not affiliated with Black's BBQ in Lockhart: "To be clear, Terry Black’s is not affiliated with Black’s BBQ in Lockhart — there’s a decades-long family beef here — but the lineage is definitely legitimate. " https://houston.eater.com/2021/6/2/22464225/terry-blacks-houston-shepherd-drive-expansion-permit-applications Also from the Leader last summer: "Terry Black’s Barbecue, which has locations in Austin and Dallas, is looking to open a third location in Houston. Co-owner Mark Black said the Heights is the ideal part of town. Although the company has filed permit applications with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts for 1329 N. Shepherd Dr., nothing is under contract to lease or buy. Black said part of the reason the barbecue joint isn’t in Houston yet is because they’re “in the business for buying not leasing and the market is really hot right now.” Plus, he said it’s been tough finding a space that is the right size and shape with ample parking." https://www.theleadernews.com/food_drink/food-briefs-central-texas-barbecue-joint-looking-at-heights/article_5553465c-c935-11eb-8537-1fc67d6c567a.html
  8. 1329 N Shepherd Dr was previously home to A & C Glass Co. 1331 N Shepherd Dr was last home to Crowley Signs & Graphics Inc. In the summer of 2019, 1329 N Shepherd Dr was up for sale. I think 1331 N Shepherd Dr was on the market too. The property was no longer on the market in late 2021. Listings for 1329 N Shepherd Drive: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1329-N-Shepherd-Dr-Houston-TX/16787147 https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1329-N-Shepherd-Dr-Houston-TX/16753088/ https://hedproperties.com/1329-north-shepherd-dr/

  10. Photos of the ongoing renovations at 1801 Yale St. The property is the home of the latest outpost of Goode Co. Kitchen & Cantina. These were shared in the Houston Heights Foodie. From late July From last week: This week from realtor Ashley Day
  11. Sale listing for 801 Studewood. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/801-Studewood-St-Houston-TX/25630499/ https://images1.loopnet.com/d2/WIaimlikBq8dKnNc6YcjD5WLG29nyFcjA7I9qMR4HNk/801 Studewood Flyer.pdf More photos of 801 Studewood from the listing.
  12. The property at 801 Studewood is for sale. This is the former home of local wine bar Sonoma. Sonoma opened in 2012 and closed its Heights location in June. Last month, Chron.com published an article about the property going on the market. "The building is now up for lease, being listed for $166,020 a year, according to LoopNet. The structure at 801 Studewood was built in 1940 and is described as a second-generation restaurant 'in excellent condition' in the LoopNet listing. In all, it covers 2,767 square feet, plus a 250-square-foot patio on the first floor and a 400-square-foot rooftop patio..." https://www.chron.com/food/article/sonoma-wine-bar-houston-heights-for-lease-17317001.php
  13. There are a couple of relevant posts from the Heights Restaurant And Bar Scene forum pertaining to 801 Studewood. Sonoma, the wine bar at 801 Studewood is closed.
  14. A few of the photos from the renovations for 411. The sports bar is located at 2200 Yale St, Ste 100. Going off recent videos posted to several social media platforms, it looks as if 411 could open this month or early September. Shared on Tik Tok in April: From June
  15. From the signage and logo, the name of the business opening at 2200 Yale St, Suite 100 is 411. However, the name on its social media includes its descriptors: 411 Sports Bar & Grill. This is still a sports bar and grill. 411 takes over the unit last occupied by Bernie's Burger Bus. There is a Facebook page for 411, but there are barely any updates there. But there are lots of videos and photos of the renovation shared on 411's Tik Tok page. I think 411 is from the owners of Napoli's. The bar's Tik Tok and Instagram is full of old promotional posts for Napoli's. https://411grill.com/ https://www.facebook.com/thewinecellarhouston https://www.instagram.com/411sportbargrill/ https://www.instagram.com/411_sports_bar/ https://www.tiktok.com/@411sportsbargrill
  16. A few more photos of Crust Pizza Co. at 1919 N Shepherd Dr, Ste A. From Facebook last week:
  17. A "coming soon" banner was hung last month at Tokyo Joe's (Tokyo Joe's Shot Bar). This is located in Shady Acres at 2001 Beall St. About a week and a half ago, Tokyo Joe's wrote this on Instagram: "We're getting close! Tokyo Joe's Shot Bar opening soon!" https://www.instagram.com/p/CgpB0UbAzMk/ From Instagram in late July:
  18. Gary Mosely purchased nearby 2001 Beall St property a few years ago. A local hospitality group is leasing the property to open a bar named Tokyo Joe's Shot Bar. There's a thread about it here: https://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/48236-2001-beall-st While it's possible Mosely could open another dining or bar concept under the Creek Group brand, it's also possible he's leased this this to another business. Maybe the Leader will look into this for more details.
  19. The Kirby Group recently applied for an alcohol permit for one of several new food & beverage concepts of theirs on the horizon. A TABC notice for Nino's appears to confirms the speculative post above. The notice seems to indicate Kirby Group will reopen Nino's at 2817 W Dallas St. Maybe in the coming months, we'll learn if the restaurant will continue to center on Italian cuisine
  20. The Kirby Group recently applied for an alcohol permit for one of several new food & beverage concepts of theirs on the horizon. A TABC notice confirms the post above regarding Katami taking over the Vincent's former building at 2701 W Dallas St. Katami will likely be a Japanese-focused concept in partnership with Azuma Group's Yun Cheng.
  21. The Kirby Group recently applied for an alcohol permit for one of several new food & beverage concepts of theirs on the horizon. A TABC notice confirms the post above regarding Verde (or Verde Garden) taking over the former Grappino's Di Nino at 11011 La Rue St, Suite C. Verde will be a Tex-Mex restaurant or bar.
  22. Around 2020, Greatland Management was planning to open at food truck park at 3215 White Oak Dr. The food truck park was named White Oak Food Park. I doubt it's happening. There was a website with scant details but that's no longer available. However, the Facebook page for the food truck park is still up. https://www.facebook.com/Whiteoakfoodpark
  23. Construction photos of Craft Culture X. This is the brewing co-op from Ovinnik Brewing and For the Culture Brewing opening soon at 7201 Wynnpark Dr. Posted to Instagram in 2020 https://www.instagram.com/p/CCCXDncpPly/ From February 2022 https://www.instagram.com/p/CZfRjkUp0mt/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CZfR0CbpHRU/ From March https://www.instagram.com/p/CbfZft4AyP7/ From April https://www.instagram.com/p/Cb3NKm8JuWM/
  24. Since no one posted an update when this was reported in February... Ovinnik Brewing is partnering with another local start-up brewery for the brewpub at 7201 Wynnpark Drive. For the Culture Brewing and Ovinnik Brewing are opening a joint brewery named Craft Culture X. From Houston Chronicle in February: "[For the Culture Brewing] been mostly making beer for private events to build up their following while searching for a location to open a brewery. The road to finding a brick-and-mortar location was “very brutal,” said Roaches, but by the end of 2021, they had locked something in. When they finally open later this year, For the Culture will be Houston’s first Black-owned brewery. The umbrella company, Craft Culture X, is a joint venture with a majority women-owned brewery, Ovinnik Brewing." On the start of construction and estimated opening date: "Construction began in January at 7201 Wynnpark in the Lazybrook/Timbergrove area. They hope to be officially open by late summer or early fall of this year." https://www.houstonchronicle.com/food-culture/article/Houston-s-first-Black-owned-brewery-is-opening-16931048.php
  25. Has there been any visible renovations at 3921 North Main St? The property will be home to El Cucuy, a bar & grill concept from New Orleans. El Cucuy is described as a restaurant, bar, and discotheque in their Instagram bio. In an Instagram post from December, El Cucuy estimated an opening of summer or fall of 2022: "Houston Heights Summer/Fall 2022. Antojitos Mexicanos style kitchen, outside cosmic cervecería patio, indoor agave high tide libations port, upstairs late night discotheque." https://www.instagram.com/p/CYH6B6xF07U/ https://www.instagram.com/elcucuyhtown/
