  1. After Heins Properties shared news about the 1031 E 24th St property being sold, someone asked what may be built on the site. Heins said he hopes the new owners build townhomes. I don't know what future plans are in store here. However, a lawyer specializing in alcohol licensing and other TABC related matters is listed as a registered agent. So, maybe Dan Electro's remains? Or maybe there are plans for another bar or a restaurant in its place? We'll have to wait and see.
  2. Great find! Thanks! This is in the metadata on Norcity's website: Norcity | Solar Powered Food Park at the Ion | Houston The modular containers shown on the site are from some place else. Maybe once the site is completed, there will be a mock up or two. Thanks again for sharing this. And when you can, could you please snap a photo of the signage you saw the other day?
  3. I found it on the Harris County Clerk's website under the real properties search. However, prior to finding the information on the county clerk's site yesterday, I noticed the entity filing several weeks ago. The entity filing indicated to me that person/or group is preparing to purchase this particular property. So, it was only a matter of time before the land changed hands and appeared in county records.
  4. I asked three times for a modification to the topic since two weeks ago. My suggestion was changing it to the property address: 1050 Studewood St. Topics about retail centers, multifamily residences, mixed-use developments, towers, and the like should include the name of the building or development with the address tagged on. My reasoning is this: Those types of developments are usually around for years. They are also less likely to change names. However, properties like this one with a single tenant have a high turnover. So, having the address as the title not only helps in knowing where the property is exactly, but also streamlines the forum. It also means the title doesn't need changing every time a new business signs a lease.
  5. Thanks! I thought so, but wasn't 100% for sure. So, it looks like the address for Norcity (Norcity Container Hall / Norcity Food Hall) is 4001 Main St. The lot's square footage is 51,924 sf, which lines up with what's listed on Nomads' website. Norcity's site is bounded by Main Street, Isabella Street, Fannin Street, and Cleburne Street. It's a block over from the Ion District parking garage and street retail coming soon to Fannin and Eagle. I added Norcity to the Ion District retail map for a visual. Main & Cleburne Main & Isabella Isabella & Fannin Fannin & Cleburne
  6. Some clarity would be appreciated from Taste and those whose are paid to find and report facts - not copy and paste press releases. The dining portion of Houston Chronicle and its paywall-free site Chron.com don't have the best track record of providing their readers with accurate information (same goes with some of the local news stations). Regardless, Taste is relocating to a prominent downtown location. And it's a bigger space. I hope the restaurant is able to make it work there. On the plus side, diners won't have to wait to valet or struggle to find parking (well, at least when there isn't a sporting event or other happenings). Hopefully, people will utilize the light rail to save on parking when dining at Taste.
  7. When Late August was announced last year, a rendering for the restaurant was included in the reports. However, I don't see it posted in the forum: Below is another rendering of Late August that hasn't been included in articles or on Late August's social media. This is from Prism Renderings. It's also included on Late August's recently launched website. Late August is opening later this year in the Ion at 4201 Main St, Ste 120. https://www.prismrenderings.com/projects/late-august/ http://lateaugusthtx.com/
  8. 1031 East 24th LLC is the new owner of the 1031 E 24th St property. The entity is connected to Alex Jackson of Jackson Beich Realty Group. A notice to purchaser and warranty deed were signed last week. The filings were added to the county clerk's database yesterday.
  9. The Loopnet listing for 1031 E 24th St was last updated August 25. It still shows the project is under contract. However, the listing is marked closed on broker Heins Properties' website. It's also marked as sold. https://heinsproperties.squarespace.com/sold-properties https://heinsproperties.squarespace.com/sold-properties?propertyId=1031-E-24th-St And this was posted to Heins Properties Instagram yesterday: https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch26--NpHKS/
  10. Photos from inside of Dan Electros and its patio. The property is located at 1031 E 24th St. It's up for sale. Photos are from the listing and flyer.

  12. Another food and beverage concept for Harlow District: a coffee shop. Bold (or Bold Original Coffee Artistry) will be located at 1216 W Clay St, Suite 300. It's on the corner of West Clay Street and Eberhard Street. 1216 West Clay was previously home to the Houston Alumni & Youth Center (aka HAY Center) and American Legion Post. The suite number seems to indicate other businesses will operate at 1216 W Clay. Bold is one of six food and beverage concepts planned for Harlow District. The location of the coffee shop is highlighted in the site plan below. Other known restaurants opening here are Verde, Katami, and Nino's. Harlow District is the mixed-use development at 2800 W Dallas St.
  13. Sale listings for the property at 1216 W Clay St. This was the former home for the Houston Alumni & Youth Center (aka HAY Center). In recent years, the American Legion Post also occupied the property. As reported earlier this month, Oxberry Group and TKG Capital Partners (the Kirby Group) purchased the property for their forthcoming mixed-use development Harlow District. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/1216-W-Clay-St-Houston-TX/25329681/
  14. Neat! Thanks for confirming! So, this is part of the outdoor area? Or will it be part of the Sears Civic Plaza/ Central Plaza or Ion Plaza? The design and layout for the former Conservatory location downtown and their Railway Heights Market at Railway Heights have not disappointed. So, I'm looking forward to viewing proposed renderings for Norcity Container Hall whenever it becomes available. From the description on the Nomad Opportunity Zone site, Norcity Container Hall sounds like it will be similar to Company of Nomads' Railway Heights Market than Conservatory.
  15. Taste (Taste Bar + Kitchen) may not have plans to expand downtown after all. Instead the restaurant is relocating its Midtown location at 3015 Bagby to 420 Main St. The restaurant announced the closure of its Midtown location on Instagram this afternoon: "Our Bagby location is currently closed until further notice due to renovations..." https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch2lpzbOyea/ The Instagram posts directs diners to visit their new location at 420 Main St. Taste's new location is Local Foods former home in the Byrd Building downtown. It's expected to open later this week. Signage for Taste, I think, is up at 420 Main (if not, it will be soon, according to sign permits sold last week). Houston Chronicle reported on the closure this afternoon. The article draws the conclusion that Taste was evicted from its Midtown location due to nonpayment of rent. I don't know if that's entirely accurate since the lawsuit doesn't note Taste being evicted for good. "Taste Bar + Kitchen, 3015 Bagby, announced on Instagram on Monday that it is closed until further notice. Although the social media post said it is closed “due to renovations,” a Harris County court document indicates that owner Don Bowie was evicted by his landlord for nonpayment of rent." https://www.houstonchronicle.com/food-culture/restaurants-bars/article/Several-high-profile-Houston-restaurants-post-17405915.php

  17. A bar or some kind of drinking establishment possibly named Esther's is opening at 1701 Commerce. Does anyone know more about this?
  18. Does anyone have photos of the Purse Building over the years?
  19. Mamajuana Cafe is opening at the Rice. It's taking over the ground floor retail space at 909 Texas Avenue, Suite E. Local Japanese restaurant Azuma was the last occupant. Mamajuana Cafe is an East Coast-based restaurant serving Latin and Nuevo Latino fare. Locations are mainly in New York and New Jersey. Looking at the Instagram pages of their different locations, it seems this is more of a spot for hookah and partying than dining. https://mamajuana-cafe.com https://www.instagram.com/mamajuanacafehouston
  20. Woodshed, Love Shack, and Side Dough recently closed at Kirby Grove. https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/08-29-22-woodshed-smokehouse-love-shack-side-dough-restaurants-levy-park-closed-shuttered-chef-tim-love/
  21. Since there is no update about Conservatory's plans at 53 West, here is an article from last year detailing changes: "Roveen Abante and Chase LoVullo (Pour Behavior) have partnered to become the franchisees and operators of the Conservatory food hall that will open in the former Roxy nightclub space." "Plans call for 11 food vendors and three bars, including a mezzanine-level wine bar and a new rooftop patio that will connect to the building’s parking deck...After speaking to Conservatory co-owner Anh Mai about investing in the project, Abante and LoVullo tell CultureMap they saw an opportunity to become franchisees who could bring the concept to fruition more quickly than Mai and his partners could on their own." https://houston.culturemap.com/news/restaurants-bars/11-08-21-conservatory-galleria-food-hall-new-franchisee-roveen-abante-chase-lovullo/ Social media for the Conservatory Galleria https://www.facebook.com/conservatorygalleria/ https://www.instagram.com/conservatorygalleria/ Site plan for the Conservatory's Galleria location at 5353 W Alabama https://www.instagram.com/p/CZnJ6_qOaQj/
  22. A few days ago, the Coffee Garden shared a few details about its concept opening at Conservatory's Midtown location. Conservatory is part of the Crossing at Midtown mixed-used development at 606 Dennis St. "The Coffee Garden is a new specialty coffee shop coming soon to Midtown Houston, TX. There will be indoor & outdoor patio seating, a walk-up window, takeout, and curbside pickup." "Our coffee bar will be at The Crossing at Midtown, in the new Conservatory Food Hall. The Conservatory will feature a variety of unique specialty vendors hand-selected for this project. The 15,000-square-foot space with a 4,000-square-foot garden patio will be next door to Dave's Hot Chicken." https://www.instagram.com/thecoffeegardenhtx/
  23. Exterior signage for Ratio. This is the club / supperclub replacing Rose Gold at 2301 Main St, Ste 200. Rose Gold opens to the public August 30th. Google Maps listing photo Video from Ratio's Instagram with a preview of the interior https://www.instagram.com/p/Chxvc1XjZAx/
  24. Last Thursday, the Gypsy Poet received its certificate of occupancy for its latest location in the Heights. The restaurant is setting up shop in the former home of Fegen's at 1050 Studewood St. One of the changes to the property includes a fresh coat of paint.
