  1. Erm, That is NOT equal. If they are equal, there wouldn't be a need to adopt a different setup or name to it. It is better than nothing, but it is not equal. And you missed the point, religious or not, beliefs should not be imposed on those who don't share such beliefs (unless of course bodily harm or property, I still have difficulty understanding how gay marriages will harm others). For example, my non-religious belief is that rich ppl should not marry poor people, that would be wrong, both should be of equal networth, should that be enforced? And also, tall people should not marry short people, that would also be wrong in my eyes, so should that be enforced too? Couples with too much of difference in networth or in height should not be married, they should get together under a different kind of union. It is my non-religious belief that should happen, cause these sick couples with their widely different heights and networth are trouncing on my beliefs despite the fact it does not harm others.
  2. My religion webduism says people should not eat fish. But you sick bastards still eat them. Luckily for you folks, our constitution doesn't require that you follow the rules of my religion. Sadly, some others think that our constitution should enforce the rules of their religion.
  3. What is scarier are the bigots that hide behind a smiley face masking their true intentions. At least Toggle has the balls to show his colors.
  4. So no more bus disguised as rail? Halloween sure is over.
  5. That is so not enough time. I love the city core, but the most unforgettable experiences for me is always driving along the pacific coast, and up north wine valley. If you don't have enough time, you should still get a car and drive along the so called 49miles scenic drive in and around San Francisco. If you only have until after five to explore, you will miss much beauty. Its been a while and I wish someone would pay me to go too. And I second the Berkeley area, its a whole other kind of fun.
  6. Pictures are really nice, with ppl walking in them too. Maybe a little too many overweight ppl in them. And a little more fashion sense wouldn't hurt too.
  7. Thats like the best, and Villagio is coming along too. Cinco Ranch is doing good work. Wondering how come Seven Meadows has the same developer, Newland Communities, but the standards are lower than Cinco Ranch.
  8. Isn't that the area with the biggest litter on a stick. Every business in that little strip has some kind of big crappy banner out on the side of 99 feeder. That's the first strip everyone sees when you turn into 99 from I10, and they decide to welcome everyone with that. Pretty soon, that area is going to be like mason. I though enzo was slightly classy, why did they think its ok to spam the whole neighborhood prior to their opening.
  9. I thought the trendmaker side looks much better too, with the brick facade stacked all the way to the top for their buildings, plus their little black fence and more trees per sqft. Details like that make it nice, and strip malls more tolerable. The heb side is cheaper looking compared to across the street. Of course one exit down, target area looks much better than either one.
  10. What is up with the whitey sucks thing? And only you are one saying ppl are jealous, its not like south katy / cinco ranch area folks aren't allowed access to the mall. Its less than 10 minutes drive up.
  11. I think diversity should include variety of stores, not just home improvement stores, nail salons, donut shops, dry cleaning. I think we need diversity of food, but for this area, I will just settle for more food. It seems one exit down, westheimer and 99 is getting all the food.
  12. doing a search on them yields countless complaints. Unsubstantiated, but certainly doesn't add much confidence.
  13. nice. windy. waited a long time for this. enjoy it while it lasts.
  14. When I do watch it, its 10pm and I usually channel flip through a bunch of them.
  15. Good job Gore, its one of the highest honors one can achieve, let the cry baby conservatives continue to smear the award itself and making it a liberal vs conservative thing cause someone they don't like got it. Typical. The award would only be awesome if bush got it (lol at that thought, bush accomplishing something worth awarding.)
  16. http://www.fidelisrealtypartners.com/ but I don't see any reports its going to be big lots...but if it is, hell is going to break loose.
  17. Holy FS. If its big lots, thats like the worst thing that can go there. It will bring down the whole place. A strip club would be better.
  18. I went to the target area on westheimer and 99 last week, and compared it to the heb on fry and 99. I thought the target side is much nicer than the heb side, the heb side looks messier (not just because of the construction, I am talking about the layout, facade and type of shops). The heb area's strip shops are closer to the roads. The area seems to have less trees and the middle section dividing the lanes is smaller and has less trees in them compare to the larger middle section of westheimer target area. Also, the heb area seems to get the 'bad' stuff, car wash, firestone tires plus yet another bank, while the target side has more food, chickfil, chillis, sonic and now whataburger. Is it just me who thinks the layout in the target area's layout facade is more spacious and also looks nicer?
  19. This is Houston Texas. There will always be some folks here that even if floods reach over their heads, they still wouldn't be concerned with global warming. It will be attributed to act of god or terrorism. But who knows, if even someone like bush and friends can finally realize it is a threat, maybe there is hope for some texans. And it shouldn't take global warming to justify taking care of the environment, how about just for reducing some pollution and getting some cleaner air.
  20. Actually the line 'man made stuff is the only thing we...' should give clue that I don't expect just the government to fix all these things. You are right there are lots of parties involved in blight. I was talking about the mentality of accepting blight. You have not personally added any to the blight and I am not certainly not blaming you for it. But I am blaming the overall populace's easy acceptance of blight, which does encourage developers/ parties to not care or put beautification factor at the bottom for their projects. I am already paying taxes, I am sure I am entitled to hope that some of it can go to making the city more presentable. And I was just saying I wouldn't mind paying, I know many others would, hence we still have so many of them around.
  21. There are some things like infrastructure needs to go through government, unfortunately. We can't just say let those who want better looking freeways pay for the planting of trees, or those who want parks pay their way, otherwise our freeways are going to look worse, and parks non-existent. And we can't just say those who want who want rail go make their own. Then the city will never improve. I wouldn't mind paying more for Houston to look good, man made stuff is the only thing we can do to beautify this city, we are not blessed with natural beauty here. But so far, we decide to make it worse by adding strip malls, sprawl, poles, wires, giant parking lots and crumbling roadways.
  22. Poles are a prerequisite for urban living? Just because something predates don't necessary mean they have right of way. The city has got to improve. And why pay extra? Cause ppl like their city clean and not ugly, and they care about public spaces. And there is so much litter everywhere, there is no sense of pride or belonging.
  23. Thats why we got pickups and SUVs, to better handle our roads.
  24. The older side of 'new chinatown', or west of belt 8, the Hong Kong City Mall is walkable, although its not really Hong Kong or Chinese for that matter, its mostly Vietnamese and some actually called it Saigon City Mall, but it is good if you want walking, and also Vietnamese food. But yeah, for the good Chinese restaurants in Chinatown, you got to drive to the strip malls east of belt 8, it would be awesome if those were walkable and built like the Hong Kong City mall. Actually it would be great if there were less strip malls anywhere, not just in Chinatown
