  1. I would be concerned and pissed if someone lives next to me, sees a thief at my place and does nothing about it, but I would be more concerned at someone who lives next to me and thinks they can takes the law into their own and go around killing other criminals. IMO, Horn deserves death as much as the two robbers. I can empathize the thought of wanting to kill those criminals, but if we follow through with that, what is to prevent other neighbors from taking the law into their own hands, that is, if I see someone like Horn shooting two other guys in the back, what is to prevent me from shooting at Horn, since I can also argue that he is dangerous.
  2. Rail in this city is pretty sad right now. Everyone knows it, but you shouldn't point it out. Its like telling ppl with stupid kids that their kids are stupid, they are aware of it, but you don't just go around hurting their feelings by pointing it out all the time, some people treat this city like its their kid and its hurts. OK??
  3. I am sure the clown in office would be happy to pass his failure to the next in line, and have them clean everything up. Of course, the dumb voters that voted him in got away easy too.
  4. Some ppl don't want that, they prefer we borrow more money to give to the republican war welfare system. Either that, or they think the deficit will come down using magic from the sky.
  5. I think that Moore is trash, but I like his movies because it pisses off a lot of other trashes. I would take trash like moore who only whines out loud compare to the trash who actually made the country such a mess today. And I am not just talking about the trash in the whitehouse, I am also talking about the trash that help put them there. These idiots are equally responsible for making a mess of our country. EDIT, so thank you moore.
  6. I haven't read what he said either. Or I might have and not remember. Maybe he is as bad as described, but thanks to the video, it tells me there is more than meets the eye. At least he is doing something offline in addition to whining online. Most of us just whine online. And its easy to talk crap about someone when there are not here, and I suspect some of you just did not like what he said, and trying to trample his character to give yourselves merit. His actions just seem more genuine at this time. I would say activists are generally not well liked because they stand for something and do something about it. But yeah, blogging on company time is nono too. EDIT, I went and read some of his posts. Just as I suspected, some of you simply can't stand his views and is now taking convenient potshots. He might really be an ass or ridiculous but that is just harder to believe when its the usual suspects making the case.
  7. This is the best damn answer ever. And Gary, I would rather recite the democrat communist manifesto than the republican communist manifesto.
  8. A change to our foreign policy is in order, and Obama has stated his desire (along with a bill, but most likely for political purposes) to bring troops, and my tax money, home. I can't foretell the future as to whether he will or can do it, as politicians do lie, even though I am more inclined to believe it because of his position against the war in the first place. Compare that to McCain's message of continuing Bush's foreign polices, at least I know who is not about change.
  9. For one thing, the change I am looking for is to stop the republican's overseas war welfare program, giving money to a war that does nothing productive for the US. Contractors, soldiers, war equipment manufacturers, suppliers, Iraqis are benefiting from this welfare system with my tax money (and looking at the debt as a result of this program, my children's tax money too).
  10. You can called them whatever you liked, neocons, nutjobs, republicans, conservatives, right, far right, *********, but with their six years of majority control, this is the actual scenario we are in today, that vs your made up scenarios.
  11. Great, more speculation on how bad obama and the left will be if they win, but this time with a detailed made up scenario. I got a better scenario. Imagine that if you elected a far right winger as president and then give control of both houses of congress to more right wingers, and then 7 years later, you have a war going no where, you have deficit, you have to borrow from China you have soldiers dying for something that doesn't benefit the US, you have high gas prices, you have housing crisis, you have falling dollar, you have lost civil liberties, you have scandal after scandal from the whitehouse, you have an even worse healthcare situation. You have your country's international standing down the toilet, your allies lose respect and the world thinks you are more dangerous than the middle east. Are you willing to take such a risk on such a scenario and elect the right wingers? Oh wait... And didn't you speculate last year in this thread http://www.houstonarchitecture.info/haif/i...=9486&st=50with some nice scenarios that we will be in the black by 2008, because you see a rosy economy, and that troops will be pulling out in 2008 and complete with a force of about 20,000 staying in rotation by 2009.
  12. I hope to see how the brainwashed left and obama will lead this country. Its fun to speculate how bad it will be, but I really want to see if it can top the damage the brainwashed right with bush has ALREADY done to the country.
  13. Because he already stated that they are from Monterey, CA? I think any of the beaches, beachtowns and boardwalks there can easily beat Kemah, and they might be sick of beaches already. I would suggest Old Town Springs for something different. I would not take them to the zoo and definitely not the aquarium, because if they are in CA, they probably visited the San Diego zoo already, which is world class, and so is the Monterey Bay Aquarium in their area. How about trader village, I would always recommend it if ppl like flea markets and if they have an event going on, like the chilli cookoff, but I am not sure if they have any events this weekend. Wouldn't recommend going if there isn't an event going on. And be warned, its not really a clean uppity kind of place, ie, some folks I know don't like it. I second that one day trip to Austin or San Antonio, it isn't that long of a drive, and its a nice country drive, it would be better if your visitors were here during the peak of wildflower season, but I still think its a nice drive. And I would say no to Space Center too, unless they have kids, then the Kids Museum would be awesome. One crazy suggestion. Show them how inexpensive this place itself, I actually took out of state visitors to open houses and model homes. I showed them a bunch of stuff, from lofts within 610 to cookie cutters in greater Houston. They love it and they all behave like kids in a candy store. And I always try to plan my drives around university and memorial areas if possible because its looks better. It impossible to avoid all the blight but I always try to lessen the exposure.
  14. http://www.bizjournals.com/specials/pages/168.html Houston has the second lowest percentage (17%) of 18-34 years old college graduates on the top 10 list, but it has the highest 18-34 age population at 1395769 (24.8% x 5,628,101 total pop), so we have 237280 grads in the 18-34 age range, more than any in the top 10 list, well beside Washington. Not to say we shouldn't get more ppl educated, but another perspective.
  15. They will always be guys who find hairy chicks attractive. Same thing with billboards, utility poles and blight. Don't take that away.
  16. I took that french rail only once, shinkansen a few times, but amtak many times. Amtrak is much better. ...Got to stop smoking that weed. And those truck commericals cheapen the Texas and American flags.
  17. The traffic lights hanging on wires and flapping in the wind look worse than those slanting poles. I supposed I don't have to look at them, but I don't want to cause any accidents. As for the poles, perhaps the least they could do is make sure the utility poles are straight and not tilting at all different angles?
  18. The point about 'not bothering host' stuck home for me. Not that a lot of ppl want to visit me here, but when they do, I have to devote a lot of time to driving them around. Rail is so needed.
  19. All these cumbersome delay is nuts, after spending so much money for all the suv pickup drivers, its time rail riders get some action.
  20. The concept of original sin makes god look like a spoiled little brat or an incompetent fool. He/she should smote him/herself down.
  21. Some gods are more sinful than others. And regarding the pagan similarities, here are more talking points about them. They are many bias sites claiming or disclaiming the similarities, but this is one of the few non-bias* sites. http://www.religioustolerance.org/chr_jcpa1.htm *It promotes religion so its a little bias. Of course, the most fascinating stuff are the similarities between horus and jesus. Just google to get a more detailed list of the similarities. Also add osiris to make it a party.
  22. Bioethical violation birth control? I guess molesting little boys is an approved alternative method? "due to the phenomenon of globalization". Oh my, now that things like science and information and other beliefs are more freely available, its gotta be harder to spread our old crap, so let's add some new crap to guilt folks so we don't lose our hold on them.
  23. This is an awesome win ppl, if Texas businesses/community can continue the same kind of attitude and excuses like in this thread, in spite of these reports, then we shall have no problem claiming the top prize next time. One of the top polluters is not enough, we need to be the top. Go Texas. More pickups and suvs.
