  1. http://search.har.com/engine/dispSearch.cf...mp;backButton=Y 1434 MUNGER ST - 174K It looks like a very nice house and updated very nice, but I think it's too much for a 2 bedroom 1 bath. Is it because of the pool and other updates? Either way, I think I'm going to take a look at this place sometime next week.
  2. They used to be open until 2:00am Friday and Saturday nights a couple of years ago.
  3. I ate at Grappino di Nino just off W. Dalls earlier this week and it was pretty good. They also have Nino
  4. They have actually been doing work on the Chronicle building during the last month or so.
  5. Candelari's, Keneally's has great thin crust pizza, and Dolce Vita is very good.
  6. Why does channel 2 and 11 have to show this radar image nonstop? It's not going to change within 15 or 30 minutes.
  7. I miss the Firehouse Philly and Limelite days...
  8. Queso - the is the Spanish word for "cheese." So it is queso no matter what you put in it.
  9. Those are mainly homeless people hanging around the convenient store (or crack shack as I call it). They now have everything boarded up and the store on the corner is out of inventory, which is why the block is so much cleaner now. Has anyone notice people aren

There is a homeless guy that sits at the same place everyday where I live downtown - he knows my name and I know his. Gary (I hope it's not Gary from this site) never asks more money or anything, but I do give him some leftovers at times. He's a pretty cool guy...always asking me how work was and who won the ballgame.
  11. I don't know what you guys are talking about, but it's pretty bad looking at the news reports. One guy reporting from the beach almost got his hat blown off. Freaking media....
  12. My fault Htowngirl...they are still working on the place but will be open Friday night.

Thank you for placing benches along Main Street. It gives us a place to sleep throughout the day and night - I'm sure everyone enjoyed our company Sunday. There were more of us sleeping and talking amongst each other on these benches than regular downtown clientele. We look forward to the day when we have overtaken Main St. Signed, Your Local Homeless Guy
  14. I would say the 17th is not going to happen from looking at the building site. I'm thinking more 2008.
  15. I recieved this weekly email from the Houston Downtown Management District: The wow power of the soon-to-be completed Houston Pavillions project, scheduled for a fall 2008 opening, continues to draw additional development to the area. The latest exciting announcement is the redevelopment of the former downtown Sheraton at 711 Polk by Omni Hotels and Songy Partners. The transformed property will be just a few steps from the Pavilions, which is taking shape as a retail and entertainment hub with future tenants such as House of Blues, Lucky Strike Lanes, Forever 21, McCormick & Schmick's and Yao's Restaurant and Bar. The Omni project will feature more than 400 luxury suites, 30,000 square feet of meeting space and a variety of restaurants. A complete wellness center on the fourth floor will be accessible through a separate, private ground floor entrance for neighboring Houstonians and nearby office workers. The 13,000-square-foot wellness center will offer a state-of-the art fitness facility with a Mokara Salon & Spa, personal trainers and nutritionists who will be available to create customized wellness and fitness regimens. Redevelopment of the structure is scheduled to begin later this year, and the property will open for guests in 2009.
  16. I have to disagree to an extent above the two posts above me. Downtown "WAS" diverse with people only looking for a good time. Now there are bars closing because of shootings - MBar. I thought a heard a few gunshots this weekend and asked my neighbor about it...he said he heard some too. Turn down the bass on the car stereo, quit driving in circles, and quit hanging out in parking lots. And yes, I realize white kids were doing this on the Richmond strip back in the 90
  17. It's always crowded. Pretty decent dood as well.
  18. Do you remember the downtown Cabo a few years ago? That place was happening at night and just a little place to eat during the day. We need more places like Sambuca downtown.
  19. I agree with HtownWxBoy. I'm more into the casual bar scene, but if you want to go to a club more power to you. However, I probably won't meet you at the dance club. I don't think the pavilions will have many clubs...if any at all.
  20. We have a discussion about these a few threads down. So how much are the maintenance fees? Is it true there isn't any parking? Does it look like they will negotiate on the price at all?
  21. You also have to find a way to get the tubes back to your starting place. THos guys do make a killing renting tubes, but it's worth it for the convenience - they also have bottoms on their tubes.
  22. 44 cents/sq. ft. seems pretty steep to me. I don't need valet parking and a concierge.
  23. I noticed they are now selling these units and some are listed on har.com. I wonder if these would be a good investment with the new park, Houston Pavilians, and the new building replacing the New West Building. $195K for 1100 sq. feet doesn't seem too bad for downtown; I just wonder what the maintenance fee is?
  24. It looks like this store is about to open across fron the Houston Pavillions. You can now find high-end sneakers/running shoes downtown if you need them.
