  1. The Shawn Barber deal is official now. "Houstonsemipro - He's there when news breaks" Link
  2. Well I didn't mean to get this thread off topic, but yes, I would call PacMan Jones and a lot of the players NBA thugs.
  3. I guess you weren't downtown a couple a months ago on a Friday or Saturday night. Why you think the downtown organization is cracking down on some of these bars? I have only been to the Marqui a couple of times and that was during the day. It seemed like a pretty nice place.
  4. The Houston Pavillians will be a success if it is anything like the Marqee off I-10.
  5. ^^^^^ Is that from the same source as the Ron Dayne report? I haven't seen any links to verify this.
  6. Have St. Patricks Day every Saturday. All of the bars and restaraunts were full at 2:00pm...it was a nice site.
  7. Benjy's has a pretty good brunch. I also like Baby Barnaby's .
  8. I didn't say I had anything agains local establishments - in fact, I prefer them. I'm just saying it wouldn't hurt to have a few popular places for the visitors. I never go to Senor Frogs when I'm in Mexico, but that's who gets most of the business because of the popularity. I have seen some younger kids downtown this week for spring break and they didn't know where to go. Like I said...downtown needs variety. For example, I don't think a Hooters would hurt downtown at all. Actually, I think it would keep people downtown after work.
  9. I'm not a big proponent of Coyote Ugly, but I think it would be nice to have at least some kind of variation downtown. It all can't be just local bars and restaraunts. You do need something for the out of towners, tourist, and young crowd. I'm not saying it has to be like Austins 6th St., but maybe more like 4th St.
  10. My sources still say an upscale restaraunt.
  11. Nobody knows about this guy because he has never played. He was Washington's #1 draft pick in 2002.
  12. There was a Ninfa's on street level at the Allen Center a few years ago and it was overpriced. It is now Don Patron's.
  13. So I guess this means Houston won't be drafting a running back in the 1st round? I think Green is well past his prime. He is not as fast as he used to be and is injury prone now, but it's better than what we had last year. I also think this is the year for Chris Taylor to break out.
  14. I wouldn't mind a few small shops/restaraunts too...just in case I don't want to sit down and eat somewhere and not spend $20.00 on a meal. HP needs a TACO BELL because there isn't one downtown. I could see it now...get off work, buy a shirt on the way home, have a couple of beers with some co-workers after, grab some Taco Bell, and then head out to another place. Did I mention I want a Taco Bell at HP.
  15. You guys quit bitching and be happy it's here...it's better than 4 parking lots. Some people ask for something, and then they want even more when they get it!
  16. Well the "unofficial" groundbreaking has already started. They are currently tearing up the parking lot on Dallas & San Jacinto/Caroline.
  17. Exactly, this will be good for all of downtown businesses. Joesephine's has pretty good food, but a lot of people don't know about it because of it's location. I won't be able to recognize downtown Houston 5 years from now.
  18. Saturday, April 2nd, 2005 @ 12:42pm: That was the first post on this thread, and I don't think two years of planning is bad for a project like this. I could only imagine what some of you guys were like while waiting for Christmas as a kid.
  19. They even mention a HAIF poster again... This Blows! Houston has a national rep for taking down buildings. So why are these eyesores still standing?
  20. That's because they never sold out and catered to those kinds of people. Just bars focused towards college students and profesionals - no cover charges, ect... I you like that seen you will go, and if you want something else, you will go elsewhere. Simple enoughm
