  1. Brewery Tap could easlily fit 200 people. Leon's can fit a lot of people too...they have a back room.
  2. Hiccups is a new bar downtown that is quite dead - but I don't know if it couldhold 90 people confortably. I wonder if SpeakEasy is open anymore? How about Brewery Tap or Leon's Lounge in Midtown?
  3. 34 and still looking young (for all of you single women out there)!

    Soda v. Pop

It's always been Coke damnit. If I want a Dr. Pepper I will aske for a Dr. Pepper, and if I want a Srpite I will ask for a Sprite. However, I will never ask for a Pepsi because they are the suck.
  5. Astrodome's shelter days are over, county says Commissioners Court unanimously gave the go-ahead to a private firm's plan to spend $450 million reinventing the mostly dormant, county-owned Astrodome into a convention hotel. The hotel is planned as a four-star facility with at least 1,000 rooms, a 2,100-space garage built around two-thirds of the Dome's exterior and restaurants, nightclubs and retail stores. The entrepreneurs behind the project envision the facility being a destination attraction, featuring winding waterways and gondola rides. http://chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4133932.html
  6. Talbot, I was being a little smart ass there...I guess sarcasm doesn't come across too well in writen form. My friends and I were talking about this movie back in January.
  7. So your are saying there are snakes on this plane?
  8. Try looking up FAILURE on Google - seriously
  9. I would say a majority is 25 and under, but there are people in there 30's there too. Speeking of dance clubs...the Chronicle is doing a survey for the "best of" in Houston again. There is a selection for the Ultimate DANCE CLUB and one answer is Boaka Bar/The Mercury Room (who goes the anymore)? http://www.chron.com/entertainment/ultimate/ But they did get the burgers right with the options for Lankfords and Christains Tailgate.
  10. Molly and the Ringwalds are a great cover band playing 80's music. Thursday nights at Pub Fiction is always packed - I'm not sure how old you are but it is kind of a younger crowd.
  11. I was working for METRO with they did those ads. They were mainly geared toward the college students. They also had "Don
  12. Here is an interesting site about the Houston freeway system from the past to the present. http://www.houstonfreeways.com
  13. Hiccups Bar on Grill has opened on Main St. (next to St. Pete's). I haven't had the chance to check it out yet, but I will soon.
  14. I met with the owner today and we looked around the lofts. He expects the 5th floor to be finished by the end of October and the rest of the building done by December. There are a few units already 70% - 85% complete. The prices range from $147K to $190K - ranging between 700sq. feet to almost 1100sq. feet. Some units have 1/12 baths, but they are pretty small (but I would prefer a bigger living space anyway). I asked if we could talk about some pricing options later in the month and he said "Don't even think about it...these are listed as pre-construction and the prices are final". He sounded pretty firm on that. As of right now, 7 out of the 55 units are sold. The owner "SAID" he has a lot of people waiting to se the final product. However, prices will go up after everything is complete. I would say they are putting high quality products in all of the units - Frigidaire refrigerators, ovens, and washer/dryers. All of the floors are stained concrete, and they have quality paint. Each unit has a different style. So if I decide to buy I don't need a realtor...am I correct? It's just me, him, and the lender right? So in my mind, I should have a least a 3% discount becuase he doesn't have to pay realtor fees.
  15. Downtown is not dangerous. I live downtown and walk home all of the time between 1:00am and 2:00am. Other than the homeless, I never see crime or any threatening situations. Now I am not naive enough to think something couldn't happen to me, but I could think of many worse place to be. Oh..to stay on topic. Nice pics!
  16. Houston radio does suck - Austin radio does not suck. Yes, Austin has some Clear Channel stations, but it also has A LOT of independent stations. Oh, buy Serious salalite...not XM.
  17. I'm wondering if these townhomes will like like the ones I see in Hyde Park area in 25 years - not very attarctive.
  18. Rev33, Right now I am torn between buying a unit in the Herrin Lofts or buying a house on the East Side. I have seen a few houses in Scharpe St Guy's area and I like those as well. I assume you like the warehouse area? One member on this board has offered me a good deal on his house, but my current lease isn't up until September.
  19. Thanks Niche...and others. I drove by ealier today and liked what I saw because I like neighborhoods that have trees and character. But I noticed most of the houses didn't have garages. My only two requirements are 2 bathrooms and a garage. I also don't want to buy a fixer-upper because I don't have the experience and time. That leads me to the folks like you guys to purchase one of these houses and fix it up. Then sell it to me with the "good-guy" discount. The Herrin Lofts look interesting too - right by the ballpark and the new soon-to-be park. But not much else there right now other than abandon warehouses.
  20. I agree with you RPS. The thing is...I am spoiled with walking to work right now while living downtown, and I don't like the rates for the downtown lofts. These just seemed a little closer, but it wouldn't make that much of a difference. I think I will take a drive through Eastwood this weekend and check out the subdivision. Are there a lot of repairs with older houses? Thanks for the note about the RR Kirzania.
  21. Stange...it used to work, but I think you may be correct. These seem to be priced pretty reasonably so I may have to check these out. There isn't much there now, but who knows what it could be like after a few years? I mean...look at the pretty trees and the nice wooden fence!! This is the address listed on the site: 915 Mckinney Park Houston, TX 77002 Mls Number - 6399943 http://www.adventproperties.us
  22. "http://www.adventproperties.us/HomeDetails.aspx?Action=PAGE&Ord=16&Id=6399943&sId=f66a908a-246f-4f99-9b4c-f36768884fde" (you have to copy and paste without the quotes because the link won't work). Obviously the map is wrong because this would put it in the middle of downtown. I also checked the MLS# on har.com with no results? Do any of you realtors have any idea?
