  1. I could never get tired of the pictures. You always have different shots.
  2. It was here in 1994 and it was a pretty good success. They played in LA, Dallas, and Detoit (in the Silverdeome during the summer without air conditioning). I think they played in another city too.
  3. The last time I went to Biba's my friend asked for no tomatoes. He serves us the food and she has 4 huge tomatoe slices on her food. He just looked at her and said "you give the tomatoes to your friend" before she could say a word.
  4. I walked past Mecury Room a couple of weeks ago with some friends areoun 1:00am. There was a guy outside on a stretcher with blood on his shirt which looked like two stab wounds or gun shots, he looked half dead. I think that is the "thug" atmosphere HtownGirl is talking about.
  5. May freinds and I were talking Firehouse Philly's just last week. RedSacre used to be one of the owners of that place - he may be able to give us the scoop. At one time a heard they may open one up in the Heights, but that was a long time ago. I've been to quite a few cheasesteak places since and nothing compares. Oh, Ben & Jerry's is open now. Very friendly staff and good ice cream.
  6. I appreciarte all of your opinions. I was thinking of the east side as well...I missed the boat on Midtown 6 years ago. I think the East side will be the new Midtown.
  7. I am curretnly leasing downtown and looking to buy somewhere. I am think of buying in The Rise in Midtown (formerly Post Lofts), or someplace like Bayou Place downtown. Which do you think will have better re-sale value later down the road - maybe 10 years from now. I'm thinking downtown may be better because of the new park and Houston Pavilions. Then again, I start to think that this part of Midtown is pretty well developed and is close enough to downtown. I just don't want to be stuck in a place I can't sell.
  8. Well you should introduce me to your friends!! I was at Christains Tailgate last night and it was a great crowd. The only problem... I was 10 years older than most of them. It was $1 beer night so all of the college kids were out. It's kind of bad when you are talking to someone about a movie and she says "Uhh, I was 2 years old at that time", then I say "Well I was a sophmore in high school".
  9. Franks Pizza - the best drunk food ever. I know I have said this in a previous post but FireHouse Philly's was the BEST cheese steak EVER (RIP). My friends and I still talk about that place.
  10. The Red Door crowd is kind of what you described. All of the guys are in the uniforms (striped button-down shirt untucked, with $200 jeans). Uropa and Hue are the same. But I don't think the women are gold diggers. I prefer the liad back places Trophy suggested (Front Porch, Woodrows, Kamodos)
  11. Daniepwils, Is your pool open to the public? It's been pool weather for a while we don't have a pool at the Hogg. Right now I use I friends pool in Midtown or my other friends around Memorial Park.
  12. Richmond Arms was showing the game live during the last World Cup. The bar was packed at 4:00am. I'm pretty sure they were serving beer too!
  13. Sudude, I went to Wrigly Field and Fenway last year. Those two stadiums are still old school the way baseball was meant to be played. No rock in between innings (just an old fashion organ at Wrigly), no stupid cartoons, no Hummer races, and no stupid guessing which hat the ball is in.
  14. Here is a list of a few movies I have seen recently at Angelica: Sin City Walk The Line Crash Dave Chapelle's Block Party V For Vendetta I would call those main events.
  15. A can name a few bars that will stay; however, they have been around for a while and not trendy: Warrens, Brewry Tap, La Carafe, Market Square Bar & Grill Newer bars that will proboably stay around because they are not trendy: The Flying Saucer, 12 Spot, Dean's (maybe), CharBar None of these bars charge cover either. Bars to be closed at some point: M Bar, Grasshopper, Suede, Mint, ect... Notice that most of the less trendy bars are off Main St.
  16. Going up right accross the street from the Flying Saucer (formerly Logan's). Yummy!!!
  17. El Patio's Club No Minor was great, and apparently still is good. I remember you had to watch out for the blue margaritas. That would be great for Midtown if they could bring that exact atmosphere to the Thirsty Cactus location. Speaking of Mexican food...downtowns La Tapatia closed (Milam & Congress). That was the only decent Mexican food place downtown. They were open after hours as well.
  18. This doesn't look too good: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060130/ap_on_...wl_two_detroits
  19. Whole Foods needs to get off there high horse. I friend of mine asked for Sweet & Low and some razors. They didn't sell either because the Sweet & Low was not natural, and "they" test razors on animals. Save the world Whole Foods!!!
  20. I hate to see this building go but it was an awesome site. It was around 12:00am and I just missed the wrecking ball pic. There was a wrecking ball, crane, bulldozer, and a guy with a firehose.
  21. Has anyone had a bite to eat here. It's right accress the street from The Flying Saucer at 706 Main St. It looks to be a pretty fancy, but I haven't seen a lot of traffic in the place. http://www.laidbackmanor.net
  22. The daytime news: OK, so I'm off work today just lounging around watching the 4:00 news...I don't need to see the weather every 15 minutes - nothing has changed within the hour (much less the last 24 hours). Now the 5:00 news is on. They are talking about the sames topics as the 4:00 news - oh, but wait, it's 5:02 and I get another weather forcast. Anything new? No!! I just can't wait for the 6:00 news. I don't need 1 1/2 of local news between 4:00 - 6:30.
  23. I think I talked to RedScare at FireHouse Phillies (R.I.P.).
  24. I like the Tipsy Clover. My only compaint is the jukebax is i little loud, but you can always sit on the huge patio.
