  1. Those wimps should have rode it out in the gulf.
  2. I would second guess those townhomes they are putting up these days in Midtown and the East side. They seem to go up in three months. I'm kidding...kind of.
  3. I also hear The Pig is going to be turned into a sports bar.
  4. The owners of The Harp are opeining an Irish bar across the street from Pearl Bar, where Chaines is (however the hell you spell it). I'm looking forward to this because the area needs a few more laid back bars.
  5. I know someone who works in the building. She said the City of Houston was starting to fine The Chronicle for the scaffolding because they weren't doing any work on the building. Apparently The Chronicle hired someone to do the work, but they found out is was going to be more expensive and over their budget after the scaffolding went up. They just left the scaffolding there until the city threatened to get fine them.
  6. This sounds like a plan...the blue margaitas always make things more enjoyable. Especially with cute girls around.
  7. I don't see I problem with him wanting to make money. Unfortunately I see The Spazmatics more than I would like...usually when I get draged in by some friends. They lip sync a lot and half of the music is synthesized. About the only thing real is the drummer. If I wanted to listen to 80's music I would watch Molly and The Ringwalds because they actually play. The girls seem to love The Spazmatics, so I guess they are doing something right.
  8. Not a good area at all. I know because I tried to walk from The Wet Spot to W. Dallas at nightime. It's a long story, but I got out alive.
  9. Hopefully this club will be shut down soon. It's right next to The Brewerey Tap and I always see fights around this area.
  10. I could not agree more. That 80's cover band called the Spazmatics sucks on Thursdays. Good for you Sammie.
  11. I'm going to watch the Fab 40 play in the park Saturday at 7:30. A reprise of the Fab 40's stunningly constructed note-for-note re-creation of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. This is going to be great. Sgt. Pepper at Discovery Green
  12. I went for a jog at the park last week and didn't like it. There isn't much gravel to run on which means you have to run on concrete for most of the course. I wish it was more than 1/2 mile too - runing in a circle 6 times is not fun.
  13. I'm not a big Sunday morning La Strada fan so I don't mind. http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/sto...24/story13.html Overpriced drinks on a borderline douchebag crowd.
  14. I have no idea what it should be called. I like the east side. http://namethedistrict.com/
  15. surely you can't be serious
  16. I went to the Treehouse last night and it was very nice. This will be a perfect spot on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon for a few drinks. I just hope it doesn't turn into a LaStrada crowd.
  17. The red striped areas are obvious becuase it's usually by a fire hydrant. Plus I don't think it is legal to park that close to a cross street because it doen't make for safe turns.
  18. This is good to know because I got a ticket for parking downtown in a handicap spot last week. There were three head in parking spots and I parked in the far right spot. The center spot has a handicap sign up, but the place where I parked was just striped. I just didn't see the stripes because it was striped with dull gray brick and it was around 9:00pm. I took a picture and it clearly shows the sign is in the middle parking spot. I guess it's time to fight. However the ticket does say parked in a stiped area.
  19. I checked it last night and it's a nice bar. I would even consider bringing a date there. The patio won't be ready until March, but there is still plenty of room. The owner of the bar is very friendly and she has a nice music list on the jukebox.
  20. It had a couple of options pending it one point.
  21. It's a forclosure. It's as-is and they will not turn on any power, you must get the house inspected before you make an offer too. The house sits directly on Studewood. But the house looks to be in good condition.
