  1. DNA. It's a great vision. Have you seen the Bayou east of downtown to Lockwood? It's wild and beautiful. There are a couple industrial facilities along the north bank, and a few relics that tell it's history as a port. But otherwise, it gorgeous and feels completely different than DT or West. Yes, real potential. BBP has acquired some stretches of the waterfront, but the big difference is that it is almost entirely owned by private companies, who all have private visions and ideas. Fortunately, BBP has been working to get right of way access for trails from most...but a grand plan for public spaces and access is very difficult. And won't come cheap. Although, as the east end is developed, some very cool private/commercial concepts could take advantage of the beauty and environment.
  2. Very very cool pic. The rail bridge a the bottom of the photo, is still there and abandoned. Buffalo Bayou Partnership is converting into a Ped/Bike crossing, to link the trails on each side of the Bayou. It's really interesting down there.
  3. I'm gonna trust that this will be nice...and tasteful. Considering the source.
  4. And...it hasn't been revolutionary since we all started wearing digital watches. I can't imagine how much time/money the city/citizens would save if they employed this "voodoo" phantom technology. Other, entire cities, are equipped with it.
  5. How are the 5th ward politicians hampering Cathexis (the owners)? Sounds like you've heard something. On a side note: heard that the Buffalo Bayou Partnership was able to gain Right of way access to build/complete trails along the bayou. They will also got the right of way for trails by Clayton Home housing project and will be converting to old railway bridge into a pedestrian/bikeway...which will be very cool.
  6. I figured. Your name is a dead give away. Wonderful place.
  7. Yeah. Reminds me of Greece too. The scale, shape, balononies. You nailed it.
  8. Surprising refreshing in this room, I have to say. I don't even open the door of the "trains" room anymore. Or "The Heights". Lol.
  9. Mollusk, And I love to go to Connie's and point at That! Flounder and tell the server just how I want it vivisected and cooked. Lol. I've also worked on farms and picked out which lamb was to be used for Sunday supper. I think my point is, it'd be nice to have a fabulous Aquarium, with a café... In addition to a Restaurant with a Huge Fish Tank...and white tigers.... Are there still tigers?
  10. Thank you Tiger. I very much appreciate your points and making them eloquently rather than preaching and turning up the heat. And, I agree. It's mostly is an issue with the churches. Not god 's will. Happy Good Friday.
  11. IronTiger I understand that Westboro is what it is, like I mentioned. Fringe. It's just that how I'm a sinner is always brought up while everyone else's sins are just excused as in "but we all sin". It is as if my sin is somehow way worse that it needs to be separated. There are many, smaller churches in Houston, and elsewhere, that are very welcoming and inclusive. But these churches are not building giant crosses to draw people to them and attention to themselves. Does anyone in this forum believe that any of the organizations building these crosses along the frontage roads, in our suburbs, invite my longtime partner and I to participate and the same levels and in the same ways that straight/married members of the church would? ...Without first calling specific attention to my special sin? And...if they did, would not half of the people sitting in the pews get up and leave?
  12. When it's thrusted at you repeatedly & often by so called "Christians" telling you that your going to burn in hell because god hates you, makes them neither a symbol of hope or comfort. Knowing that they are from extreme fringes, is the only comfort. But, it can be frightening. Sorry, but that is almost always the very first memory and impression that I get when I see a cross. Perhaps if more main stream churches changed their tune and made them more welcoming to all, without treating me like I was deseased, or second class or just deserving of pity, then I'm sure I would have a different impression. Is there hope for this?
  13. Without ZONING...there is no SHOULD. There may be WANTING or WISHING...but no SHOULD. Whole other discussion outside of this topic.
  14. Yeah. All the jails aren't too cute. But there is an interesting underworld sort of a vibe...which is what it is.
  15. Really excited about this, personally. The perspectives of the Bayou and the city there are totally unique. Feels like you're in a completely different city. The upstream efforts on the bayou will make the water down there much cleaner. I think it'll be a great success.
  16. Something rather macabre about about looking at the sealife and ordering the seafood. But, that's our Tillman! Can you imagine if he ran a restaraunt called "The Zoo"...
  17. ^^ No different than any other president. Don't blame him. If you have to blame someone, blame his hosts. But don't blame them either.
