  1. Wow. Awesome news. Theyve got a lot of land there. UrbanLofts "Meadows Street Townhomes" should get going soon too. They are running out of inventory.
  2. Nope. You came across testy.
  3. Wow, Houstonian. Restraint, and manners. Not often found in the anonymity of this forum. You have a date to the prom yet? Anyway...I think this building is entirely appropriate for this up-town location. It will compliment the other highrise residential buildings in the area. Several more buildings of this size and style would look great and show dignity. Widens the the tax base of the area too.
  4. Montrose 1100, very impressed by your concept. Greenway does make a very logical hub. Not the bigges business center, but perhaps the most central. Like to see more of your doodles. Extra marks for repurposing Lakewood's Religatorium.
  5. Tilman would need one! They are doing lot of digging and making piles of earth...that get covered up. Is this, perhaps, cleaning contaminated soil?
  6. OTC is a better comp than Rodeo, I think. Actually, if you combined them, it'd be better. Aside from the the out of town attendees, the locals will be rushing to area's of town, celeb spotting...The radio, Twitter and all forms of social media will be star spotting/reporting. Unavoidable crushes. But...it's not something that happens at OTC. Not much public transit can do to avoid this...but moving those not in private vehicles...it will. Oh god. Just hit me. Kardashians. Can we rethink our bid!?
  7. Super Bowl is not Rodeo. Largely, SB will be made up of Out-of-towners, with lots of money to spend, who will shop, eat drink, entertain and checkout the city. Not people coming to Reliant Park from the Suburbs for the evening. SB is a whole weekend, throughout the city...and not just a ball game at Reliant. It will be a "Charlie Foxtrot" anyway, and the press will talk about it, but lets just hope they don't talk about how poorly prepared we are. It'd be nice, and appropriate if the city is prepared. Aside from all the money that will be spent here, Houston has a lot to gain. No, it's not like Clint Black Day at the Rodeo...at all.
  8. Red, It needs to be updated, not just for Super Bowl, but for all of us that live here. But, lets do it before the SB. It's a good goal...don't you think? I think a BRT down Memorial to Uptown BRT, would make sense...and could utilize the Post Oak BRT stops/system. Quickest connection between DT and Galleria that I can think of. Could be completed by 2017 too.
  9. So, we will have New Terminal B at IAH, a new Internationl Terminal at Hobby. Buffalo Bayou and Hermann park will continue to improve, Disco Green will have at least one new Big hotel, a couple new high rises downtown and on Post Oak...etc. At least. But really needs to happen prior that hasn't been announced? I believe the following will be discussed or planned. 1. Lower Westheimer streets will be improved. 2. BRT from DT to Uptown. 3. The Dome. Something will be done. Good...or Bad. Love the idea of stripping down to the frame and turning it into a park/collision type venue (I can imagine awesome Pink Floyd type concerts. Anyway... 4. Bet we see a couple big hotel announcements. 5. The Sears won't be here. What else do y'all think?
  10. Think the the point at this point would be, to develop what?! At least the Rail Yards had a sketchy vision. Does anyone have any clues, here? Wondering what we will blooming at by Super Bowl 2017. There will now be lots of visions of what Houston will be looking like in 2017.
  11. What an unfortunate catastrophe this (beautiful) building as turned out to be. Hate to see what this has ended up doing to the Arts District.
  12. I agree with Avensab727. However UA did frame their cuts/layoffs (which were coming anyway) as a result of the City's decesion to develop Hobby as a Internation gateway for SWA. UA just came off appearing to be juvenile in their response. "Your going to let SWA fly to Cancun...We aren't going to fly 787's to Auckland! So there." Does this make sense to anybody?? They lost jt16, me and countless others in this rediculous, thinly vieled response. Contiental didn't own Houston, SWA doesn't own Houston...United shouldn't think that they own it, either. So far...CO:UA...Disaster. I really hope they turn it around. I really do.
  13. Springhill Suites: No room Service. No Restaurant. Marriott Point Chaseres and convention goers. Will be eating most/all dinners close to hotel. On Good/reasonable budgets. Bodes well.
  14. I always considered the area around Wheeler the Pivot of the whole city. Great connects East, West, North and South. Rail (maybe two lines someday). Foot traffic. Highway access. Close to everything. Highly visible and would have great views. Lots of open space...and yet so under utilized. How could this not be considered as something great?! Even if it is just a Kirksey exercise. Something's gotta happen soon. And Sears days are numbered.
  15. Fingers are not crossed for that! Just to clarify, the UrbanLofts and UrbanLiving plots are not on frmr KBR land...just close by. I think the UrbanLofts "tin town" houses work pretty good on Quasi Industrial East End.
  16. Lots of houses mean lots of people. It may not be the sexy exciting development that...We All Really Want. But, leads me to wonder what the other half will be used for. It's still a lot of land. UrbanLofts and Urban Living are both excellent barometers.
  17. I always thought that the "second Enron tower" looked like a love child from the "first Enron Building" and the old Exxon building. Enron's shape and glass. Exxon's overhangs and proportions/profile. Brilliant tribute to both. Lets hope whatever Chevron puts up makes as much sense and continues the thoughtful harmony. Regardless how tall it is. But tall would be nice.
