like what dude..So far midway has brought a software company and a up scale salad bar...not exactly the fashion or entertainment nexus this place was supposed to be when it was proposed...right now midway seems more concerned with filling space not with what in that space -

I Am familiar with the city south section plan from the report if memory serves they identify three areas for another discovery sized park....I would rather it be something different a sculpture garden type or a small botanical..not discovery green 2

Sakowitz Building Conversion To Retail & Garage At 1111 Main St.
Moore713 replied to houstonsemipro's topic in Downtown
They should not focus so hard on Big Box just yet..Downtown is a weak shopping market...I still believe their best bet right now is to focus on small scale shops and try and line the street with those..example: The shoe store Tipping Point (that use to be on main, Those mobile clothing stores that park outside green street...places like that can build a niche customer base Downtown first...people like urban izzy that sells hard to find vintage clothing( although she partner with the other two mobile clothing owner and now rents a space in city centre. -

Did anyone call the number to inquire about the space? -
You can't kick them out of public places..but it is against cities rules to sleep on public property (That on the city for not enforce the rules. You will have a hundred cops in the day time but it will be a ghost town for cops at night..

I Agree that residential is a must for downtown, not just for a sense of aliveness but for the music bar scene as well..A bar owner being interviewed by the chronicle a few months back made a great point of saying 70% of most bars and restaurants business are from local business people who live in that neighborhood.. So if the new bars and venues are to survive it will hinge on a larger downtown population..people that can sustain them long after the hispters have found a new hot spot.

I have always felt main st leads itself to towers and offices, as well as high rises.. Once you get of main , then you can scale down

It would make more sense to get the tower out of the way before leasing the other part to avoid subject residents to two years of construction

I agree with you last statement whole heartedly..Which is why I when we won the Superbowl in 2017..and they said DG would be a main component..I started thinking about the 100,000 plus people that are supposed to full DT a day..if you have ever attended a New Year Event at DG you know How pack it can get with people force to walk in the streets just to move around and those events only drew 20,000-30,000
-
Green Street ( the Lawn ) is suppose to be a concert/green space.Hopefully it can help to shift some of the weight off of DG at least a little.Plus city analysis have concluded that DT has enough space for at least one more DG scale park. Most believe it will be on the south side ( given all the residential proposed) but actually the city has identified 3 possible locations according to south downtown analysis report released a few days ago.

I like the plans for the east it is a chance for Houston to do something similar to the river walk but on a much larger scale. If Houston want to be taken serious as a international city we will need to think like one.By that I mean we can not continue to neglect our core and expect people to be impressions when they visit Houston.Houston is a great city that suffering outdated views from people who last visit was like a decade ago..

I have always thought that the main street corridor leads itself to a mix of office, residential and entertainment structure.. As for gfr given it location to HCC a decent place to eat for worker/students /and staff could go over big there.

Proposed Apartments In The Visitor Parking Lot Of 2016 Main St.
Moore713 replied to LarryDierker's topic in Midtown
I think the only way you are going to get greyhound to move is to revive the unified transit hub plan..maybe if the proposed Dallas to Houston plans which would give the city something to build around
