A little update on the project. They knocked over their own sign!

Interesting. Looks like you took this right before they poured concrete. The pylons pictured here have been filled as of yesterday. I'll send some pics when I get home.

I’m guessing you live in one of those townhomes immediately to the east of this site. I’m curious how you feel about having your downtown view blocked by a mid rise apartment?

You are correct.

I don't care. There was a beautiful tree on that lot before that blocked my view from the 2nd story because the tree was so big. The view is only available from the third floor right now, and while it is a lovely view, I bought a piece of property in the East End with two massive vacant lots in front of me (this one and the one owned by Midway across from Alamo Tamales). I was under no delusion that the lots would be left undeveloped.

That’s a refreshingly rational viewpoint. I was just curious because I’ve seen other people post on here complaining about having tall buildings built that compromise their views, sunlight, etc. You didn’t seem to fit in that camp, but I thought I’d ask anyway.

I did the same, buying with an empty lot next door. A three story apartment is currently being built that blocks a view of the edge of downtown from the shared driveway. Like you, I figured it would be developed eventually. I’m just glad someone didn’t try to stick a high rise there. . .

Please, block my sunlight! My cooling bills will go down in half. Though, yes. I will have to switch the herbs/vegetables I grow when the sunlight changes.

Heede tower crane base. Hard to believe this will reach the whole project unless it has a really long jib. Might just be for the parking garage in the middle.

Somewhat related to all this: has anyone gotten a hold of management at Andes Cafe to see what their plan is?

I haven't seen anyone other than waitstaff at Andes recently, and I was curious what was going to happen when Marquette moves to renovate their building. I think it would be great to see Andes move into the structure on 2404, when complete, but I wasn't sure if anyone knew what the timeline was going to be.

The tower crane operator from the Hanover River Oaks project said it would be 9 sections high. He works for TAS which is the concrete contractor for this project.

The Hanover River Oaks tower crane operator just told me he is in fact the operator for this project too. No more heads in the cloud, but a job just the same.

Alamo Tamales, which is at the corner of this development, is set to close down by the end of the year. Sad news for the tamal lovers out there like myself.

PS: there is another location, but 15 minutes away from this location.

This guy really had me on the sales pitch until he couldnt figure out how to say Ninfas. What a douche.

Something feels off about this video in general. I don't like neighborhoods being compared to other post-gentrification neighborhoods in Chicago and Atlanta. I hate the idea of just trying to replicate what worked there. We get it man, you are from Chicago and have no idea what this neighborhood that you're part of building in is. Also the whole we get $7 million to build here but that's totally not why we are here but $7 million is pretty cool is comical.

I'm also a bit partial to Alamo and they are being pushed out already, when these units aren't going to be leased for nearly 3 years. I also don't love the idea that a nine story building is going up right here. It reminds me of the building we see going on in Austin that's completely ruining the continuity of neighborhoods with these mid rises going up on streets that are full of 1 and 2 story buildings.  Hopefully the lot across the street is used for an HEB or something that the general public in the area can access versus more living options, but I'm guessing some more housing options will go there.

A Vegas style pool 😎on navigation! Who would have ever thought 10 years ago! Definitely a exciting  time to be a resident of the neighborhood can’t wait to see all the developments in the coming years...

Some updates. They are working on some drainage on the corner of McAlpine and Navigation.

Also, they are pouring more today. It's not letting me post more pics, but I'll get them there in a bit.

Does anyone have new information regarding the roundabout initially planned for the northwest corner of this project?

Last I heard, EEMD has approved the project and has out out a request for bids from contractors. There is a thread on it here.

I've been meaning to mention this for years, but I'm not exactly sure where the creepy name "ArchCon" was derived from (but I have a really good idea).  It weirdly sounds like some kind of bad guy villain's name.  Either way I dislike the name they chose to use.  I'll wait to pass judgment on the final project (which I have no doubt will be pretty cool judging by other stuff they've done).  And, they'll be pleased to know (because my opinion is so darned important - LOL!), that I will give them the benefit of the doubt until that time, because that's just the kind of guy I am.

Just my little two cents worth for the day.

You may now go back to doing whatever you were doing before my interruption.  😎

That is all.
