A 66-story tower would rival any building downtown and Williams. By floor count it would be the third tallest in Houston.5 points

This project is going to be so damn sexy and God willing a trend setter for the city.4 points

I just looked at all the hours for all the restraunts in downtown There are 106 places that serve food on the weekends, and 68 of them are open on sundays Most are concentrated in NW downtown, with a lot of new ones around the ballpark. The list is pretty long so that I attached it here Eaterys in Downtown.rtf3 points

Stopped by the site yesterday and had a short discussion with one of the contractors. The Main street tower is about to top out and the back side tower is on the 25th floor leaving 13 to go. This is going to be such a dynamic presence on the southwestern fringe of the TMC. Cant wait to see it once its all done.3 points

This would confirm what I was told on my first visit to the site. It was just prior to excavation and the contractor suggested then that there was a possible 66 story tower going up on the adjoining property just to the north.2 points

I agree that this is a great approach. That massive parking lot is just vacant land right now; it's adjacent to the RR tracks with no through street; it will be easy to redevelop it either by parts or a as a whole in the future; just bank a massive amount of parking so you don't have to deal with city requirements while you focus on the Washington frontage.2 points

It looks like it's just a multi-step process. First they paint them gray, then they paint them green, and then they bring back the gaps in between: Already looking better on the other side:2 points

I grew up in Houston are and LOVED Roy Rogers as a kid. Went to the Roy Rogers Roast Beef restaurant at Wesheimer and 610 many times as a 20 something which would have been 1970's. On one visit , my friend Jack and I were standing at the counter to pay for our lunch, and Jack nudged me...I looked up, and standing at the counter next to us was Roy Rogers himself !! I stuck out my hand and said "Howdy Roy !" And Roy shook my hand and said "Howdy Partner ". I am 64 now and this remains one of my favorite memories. Spoke to my buddy Jack a few minutes ago and as we reminisced about the old days, this memory was one of the ones that both of us remember very well. Roy had on an iconic white Cowboy hat, with a Black Western style suit, and had a large embroidered Palimino on the back of the jacket as I guess was a tribute to Trigger. Neither Jack or I can remember the date we met him and have both wondered if he might have been in town for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.1 point

Yea, definitely looks dense. That could be it too about the time of year. Just looks dreary... brown and gray. Although there's tons of more modern glass structures in this pic, it just screams 70s box buildings to me.1 point

So, if one walks down one particular stretch of one particular street on a certain day of the week, and ignores anything in a hotel, and does not glance down any side streets, one can avoid encountering an open restaurant. Sort of proved UU's point for him.1 point

I quite like it, looks quite dense. It would be better if is was taken later in the year from that angle. There's a lot of brown trees due to the time of year it was taken!1 point

Bruh... I dont think anyone in this town, suburbanites included, expects the Downtown Tunnel System to be open during the weekends. If you want food Downtown on the the weekend, it's not hard to find. Just venture around Market Square, North End or now around Disco Green.1 point

Good news... Motive gets naming rights to One Allen Center by expanding their lease to over 204,000 square feet including a new roof deck.1 point

Downtown is dead. Light rail killed it. Some dude in Chicago told me so. These restaurants are FAKE NEWS. Sad!1 point

Density isn't everything. I like the mix of great architecture and a beautiful green space. This perspective is really unique to Houston. Most skylines aren't blessed with a gorgeous front lawn.1 point

Can't find the skyline update thread any more (I've never had much luck with the search feature on this forum) so I felt like this thread could apply. The prototypical downtown Houston skyline shot.1 point

Thank you, I love doing it. It gives a purpose to my bicycle rides while I'm getting some much needed exercise. I was actually taking a lot of pics before I discovered this web site since I'm in the business as a crane operator and my main hobby is bicycle riding.1 point

Have a question. Where do I post random TMC photos? I see the phrase "Master Plan" so I thought I'd post this in here.. During our flight, my niece took my phone and said "Hey, that's the TMC.."1 point
