  1. Last update was construction soon. Sometime 1Q coinciding with Main St refresher I believe from last PDF posted. Metro has already rerouted all bus lines off Dallas to Clay.
  2. It looks like they're about to start the other half. On the Crawford side, they've started throwing up the first pieces of metal framing for the apartment building. On the La Branch side, foundation work for the other side is visible through a hole in the fence wrapping. What can't be forgotten is the Prairie half was essentially a staging area for the project. That's why it was delayed.
  3. Id say the top image is 1970 as that appears to be 1 Shell Plaza under construction. The bottom image looks to be 1986 as construction has not yet begun on GRB itself yet
  4. Houses have moved - although I hope they reposition the Foley house (still on movers). That front porch with its Corinthian columns and double gallery should face the street. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/564221626544185344 Didn't know that back in 1963, Blanche Foley (daughter) bequeathed the William Foley house to Annunciation Catholic Church. With that in mind, it seems fitting the house end up back with the church.
  5. 2 things... A. I don't know how you do it ...but your the man. Just had to give respect. B. That link - Randall Davis is going the EB5 route like Dan Nip and his forever-delayed East End Convention Center Hotel-turned-EaDo Place-turned-City View Terrace project?
  6. I noticed that too. Rendering shows a parking lot and tree in its place, but leaves space for where they would normally be. So Im left to think Marlowe will not touch them based on that...
  7. A. The document is from Houston First and we know Houston First is in negotiations with a developer for the GHP Hotel. B. Item 5-A states "Consideration & recommendation of the terms for a convention services agreement with Houston Hotel Partners LLC for the development of a Le Meridien Hotel. In my mind, the picture is Houston First is in negotiations with Houston Hotel Partners LLC for the development of a Le Meridien Hotel at GHP. The only other spot for "convention services" hotel would be the other half Block 75 (Hyatt Place/Hampton Inn block) or Block 100 (directly north of Marriott Marquis) which Houston First has control of.
  8. I doubt it. Wouldn't Bail Bonds Companies want to be closer to the Criminal Justice Center, County Jail, and Sober Center? I can see more smaller law offices for simple traffic tickets flooding the area near 800 Bell if Municipal Courts do relocate here. The biggest positive though is Chevron can't use 800 Bell then.
  9. They didnt name NRG, Lucky Strike, Mia Bella, Andalucia, BCBG, McCormmick's, or Guadlajara ...are they leaving too? Nahhh ...I think they just picked names that would be most appealing to business clientele whom are most likely to fill their reservations. A Steakhouse and Entertainment sounds about the right mix to highlight in a press release about a new hotel in the middle of a city center. IMO, Forever XXI is likely safe as it always seems to have a steady stream of customers now. Imagine when Hotel Alessandra, Spring Hill Inn Humble Tower renovation, and 1111 Travis all are complete.... What will be interesting is to see what becomes of the Books-A-Million space... depending on who leases the space and with all the surrounding development ongoing, it could really help transform the Main St Gateway into GreenStreet. Cant wait to see how this all turns out.
  10. Now's probably a good time to detail the journey of this site and Dan Nip's plans... starting around 2007 going forward. To this Convention Center Hotel bid in 2012...
  11. Unsure of the credibility of the source but Dan Nip & his EaDo Place project are back from the dead ...with a new name "City View Terrace" and supposedly breaking ground soon, 2017 completion date. http://www.prweb.com/releases/2015/01/prweb12462775.htm
  12. No. Build it. Sure we're all disappointed about the design changes. But let's not lose sight of the goal, to change our city center into a vibrant active destination it should be. This hotel will still contribute to that, just as a slightly scaled back JW Marriott currently is.
  13. I'll say it for you. I said it in the Swamplot comments. Metro's gonna take that money, put it into one of those shiney new CAF trains, then go screw themselves with it. These effing clowns. My goodness. I'm so mad. A chance to visually improve our Downtown squandered because they mismanaged the budget. And NOW THEY HAVE A SURPLUS? If I met a Metro official on the street, I'd punch him in the face.
  14. It won't matter. If Alessandra is as successful as Sorelia, it will make the splash itself. A splash that regardless of design, could transform not only GreenStreet, but the city center itself.
  15. My goodness. Such a huge letdown, I don't even wanna visit the site anymore... GreenStreet Skybridge depicted on lower left confirms its legitimacy (as if there was any question). Also you can see Forever 21 and the Spring Hill Inn & Suites on the lower right. On the brightside, at least a hotel component is still being added to GreenStreet/Dallas St Shopping corridor. Despite redesign, if it performs well, it will be a welcome addition to the area.
  16. FWIW - GreenStreet's Twitter feed acknowledges work is happening. I still don't see it. Not even inside Yao's/SkyHouse office. https://twitter.com/greenstreethou/status/557638061954052096
  17. View from 1000 Main, 20 floors up https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/557645431367565316
  18. I believe Leon Scarborough opened it 1947. IIRC, that's what the city proclaimation stated (it was displayed inside the bar)
  19. This one hits home. After 5pm this my after-work chill spot on the walk home. The bartenders (Jennifer, Caitlin, Megan, Justin, etc) were awesome. Pete & Vera were too. Bought Lil Joe Washington a shot here last time I saw him ...thankful I did that. Saw some of my friends DJ or play live here on Friday's & Tuesday's. And best of all, the strange faces I saw daily became friends. It was my "Cheers" bar. It's too bad the landlord was so difficult to work with cause I don't think it'll reopen and if it does, it may not last too long. And there'll never be anything like it for me. You'll be missed.
  20. No. When I left the office yesterday, there was not yet any noticeable movement on site.EDIT: No movement on site this morning either. Sky bridges still open. See my Twitter for pic.
  21. FWIW - Exterior materials for 2424 Capitol look similar to Strata Dallas. As long it looks like the finished product.
  22. Its happening - just got an email for closures in preparation for demolition. Construction set in April. Cheers!
  23. So this essentially forces Campo's hand to build & complete within 4 years rather than delay like he's doing at the Midtown Superblock. The question for me then becomes if Camden loses the tax credit because Campo holds on the project and the Downtown Living Initiative caps out, could the lost Camden credit be given to another developer or is it just a lost opportunity at that point.
  24. By Super Bowl time, we may have a line of high-rises on Main from Buffalo Bayou, through Downtown and Midtown all the way to 59. (espeically if Camden moves on the Superblock complex). Should look and feel quite impressive.
