  1. I think you're describing the old Strip House, which IIRC, is under renovation to become a Pappadeaux. Like its neighbor Tejas Grille, will have access both inside and from the street. That could help add to the pedestrian experience lol
  2. One candidate could be Green St, tie in to both GreenStreet and Discovery Green.
  3. Money shouldn't be an issue. Cascade Investments LLC (owned by Bill Gates) bought the Four Seasons in 2013. They'll probably do some form of renovation before Feb 2017.
  4. Random thought: The cancellation of this was so sudden, what if there's another reason behind it ...like this site being used for the GHP building hotel instead? Larger plot of land, closer to the ballpark (while still being located next to GRBCC) and next to bars open already.
  5. I-69 ...just looks weird being mentioned. Will take some getting used to.
  6. On a sunny day, this is what it looks like. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/587683831487991808 Yes, there's a film or glazing. Bottom windows on Dallas/Main side are clear panes. EDIT: a few more pics from different angles. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/587696001432944640
  7. I went. Got there at 6, line had already wrapped around the Dome. Skipped food & drink to try and shorten an obvious wait time ahead. Waited 3.5 hours ...but was worth it. I agree, this was a great PR move that may restore some faded nostalgia in order to land some new voters in favor of a possible renovation vote. Most in line talked of wanting to save the place. Video. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586358791274307584 Some pics. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586357249573920769 https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586356735113203712 https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586356351380496384 https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586311348251860992
  8. View overhead from Luby's https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586239790519087104 An idea of what the skyline view will look like from Hotel Alessandra. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/586241476562178048
  9. Except the commuter bus line (HOV) doesn't work when the bus gets stuck in traffic in its own singular HOV lane it shares with multiple-occupancy vehicles. Or in the case of I-10 & 290 lines, mainland traffic (since there's no dedicated HOV land inside the loop. HOV is just an inferior, cheaper option of Commuter Rail service. And that sums up Houston transit options currently... Inferior horseshit. But HOV bus does show that Commuter Rail could work here, considering its ridership. More suburbanites would likely consider it if there was a more time efficient & reliable option available (grade separated Commuter Rail). Light rail is just not as effective in shortening commute times traveling to far reaching suburban areas at slow speeds (DART's mistake). Light rail here in Houston should really only be confined to serving shorter routes inside the loop. It's probably too late to start elevated light rail, which would likely be the best form of grade separation considering the flooding fears. So continue its on-street expansion (or elevate future lines) while establishing a connected Commuter Rail service to effectively serve the far-reaching suburbs.
  10. Keep the train on site and add something Houston is really famous for... STRIP CLUBS! We could even maintain the train theme by naming it "The Caboose" lol
  11. I would agree with Triton - DT Houston will be fine. Prime example: 10 years ago, Block 69 was once earmarked for a residential highrise called "Shamrock Tower" by Tracy Suttles. The project eventually stalled and died. Going up here now: Hines' 609 Main - Id say we're all happy with the end result.
  12. So a brown dude waltzed in and met Marlowe and his green-eyed agent Stephanie. Some info I got... Projected groundbreaking 6/15 (depending on sales obviously) 20 month construction timeframe Target is 18 contracts to move forward 2 contracts already signed Office had activity when I arrived and I had to wait. An agent and his client (yes, rich white people) whom lived at OPP were there and were ready to make an offer, overheard them asking questions in regards to procedure on this. Brochure I was given has the same info as website. Pic of the model's 8th floor amenities deck https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/584065894940160000
  13. I'm neither but screw it ...I'll swing by tomorrow after work. Its close by anyways....
  14. I don't think those Palms would've happened. That's the skybridge end. Atleast you've got palms on the other end by Forever XXI
  15. Does this count as demo work lol (j/k) https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/583686807042162690
  16. That's definitely not the Chronicle's garage, which is directly behind this site and would not be rendered from this perspective as International Tower would completely block it from view at Market Square. Also, note the setback from top of garage to the residential tower above ....no question this is Residences at Mkt Sq rendered. It may be nothing and this may still be dead - but this also seems to suggest that this may be a new rendering. Why would a dead project have updated renderings from Gensler?
  17. One more thing: Bottom right rendering shows the pedestal for Residences at Market Sq - IIRC the first time this project has referenced it's neighbor going up next door. Is this a new rendering? (likewise for revisions rendering) Im still under the impression this dead...
  18. Can't help but notice this last rendering with different designs including one that appears to be downsized (upper right). May be because of the perspective though... What are the chances a downsized (or cheaper design in case of far left) project could get off the ground?
  19. ...and someone would be asking if Katy should evacuate.
  20. I find it laughable that anyone could think anything Inside the Loop as being classified as Downtown. Clearly these people are either transplants or need to get out more. Mind you, I'm a transplant from back East and never got this confused. When I used to live in the Woodlands. No one that I knew up there ever thought of Inside the Loop as Downtown. In fact, they were thought of as separate areas as the city skyline (the identifiable landmark) has defined ends. This essentially helps identify where Downtown's boundaries are. We're not talking about a continuous skyline like Manhattan here. There are clear gaps in between Downtown, Uptown, and the Med Center skylines. Since former County Judge Robert Eckles is leading TCR project, I'd assume there's no confusion on TCR's part as to where they identify Downtown as being located so further debating this seems like a moot point.
  21. FWIW, Texas Central's Facts page says this: http://texascentral.com/the-facts/ Hardy Yards is convenient to Downtown. So is the Post Office site. Northwest Mall isn't convenient to anything unless both the Green Line and BRT extended here, not NWTC.
  22. Demo work has begun. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/581157192503447552
  23. It's worse than we thought ...here's a render of the replacement. Blends right in with those "hideous gray ~1980s monstrosities" around it. https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/579706695103823872
  24. Pic from my office next door. I assume that (in red, top right) is possibly beginnings of AC system/condenser setup up top? https://twitter.com/thachadwick/status/578317936072359936
  25. Is this confirmed? I speculated this myself. Currently only the interior edges are lit in LED's but the actual circle cutout is not. I'm hoping the floodlights are removed and replaced with LED's as well. FYI - I had already started a thread previously on the CNP crown in the Downtown section. Posting link in case there's continued discussion. http://www.houstonarchitecture.com/haif/topic/31825-cnp-tower-crown/#entry492605
