  1. guess i missed that in the post that said "After all, I'm just assuming...which may or may not be a good idea."
  2. i believe last yr, the hotel/motel taxes didn't cover the outstanding debt therefore harris county borrowed from the toll roads to pay for the shortfall. not a good short term sign. take a stance. i can't believe you asked this question. so you honestly believe it would be GOOD for a business if their costs are increased?
  3. ironically i've only been to the GRB once this yr for the urban planning meeting a month or so ago. a couple of people at my table were complaining then about the walk since the parking lot across the street disappeared due to construction. EDIT:got your eds red.
  4. i have a friend that works at GRB and they're having issues according to what she said. i guess getting rid of the parking lot out front hurt them without having replacement parking. she said that quite a bit of their business involves convention goers not staying downtown.
  5. lots of new places require new parking. i won't make the assumption that events won't happen simo. building new parking for the proposed stadium will be required.
  6. Many of the buildings aren't empty. i know quite a few artists types that live and/or have studios nearby. i think parking-wise they would have to hope no activities are done simultaneously. the parking situation can get bad with the astros games and with another 20000 fans, it will likely make it worse. i don't see the city building anything that can handle 7000 or so cars.
  7. that great that they can continue with the plan in its entirety
  8. yeah much was complete but evidently they mentioned that it was no longer sharp's focus so things were allowed to evolve without his influence. i think there are some great homes there
  9. yesterday on 26 news at 9, isiah carey had a story on sharpstown and what started its demise. many blame mr sharp himself who was convicted in the sharpstown scandal in the early 70's and didn't devote as much time to sharpstown as a whole from that point on.
  10. gotcha...i always wondered the name of the hood there. i ride my bike through there quite frequently.
  11. LOL Dallasboi isn't one of our mature members. i've been sucked in to his "arguments." now i just learn to ignore anyone with boi in their name.
  12. good luck on your hunt....this paragraph makes it sound challenging...at least for the average Cleaver. not often you hear Heights and budget in the same sentence.
  13. heat is a problem. like when you go to the woodlands, in the summer sitting under the cover is downright miserable.
  14. The Cleavers don't live in the Heights so just keep an open mind.
  15. The Houston Police Department announced this morning that another 10 red-light cameras are now online. Here they are: NB South Wayside at Gulf Freeway NB Woodridge @ Gulf Freeway WB West Bellfort Avenue @ Southwest Freeway NB Fairbanks N. Houston @ Northwest Freeway NB West Sam Houston Parkway South @ Westpark Drive EB F.M. 2351 @ Gulf Freeway EB South Post Oak Boulevard @ West Loop South NB Northwest Freeway @ Mangum Road WB South Sam Houston Parkway East @ Telephone Road SB Stella Link Road @ South Loop West
  16. my bad. the wfaa's website described that as downtown. guess they aren't sure either.
  17. i think dan's recollection is definitely in the right direction.
  18. i have a vague recollection of a family dispute? maybe from houston press but not sure.
  19. with the talk and comparison to dallas' lit skyline, i had to go see for myself. here's a pic from wfaa's website of downtown dallas. i dont see anything out of the ordinary.
