  1. Vic where are the commuter rail tracks from downtown to greenway? to west u? to uptown? to westchase?....i haven't been farther out in a while so i'll stop there. the handwaving is nice, but at the same time we have to be realistic.
  2. little for sprawling type expansion. planning will be essential for future growth in order to use the remaining space in the best manner.
  3. no single train line can solve the traffic issue on the Katy Freeway. expansion was inevitable due to the fact that, besides the added HOV lane, it was basically in its original config. unless some other means of transportation has been developed, we have to optimize where we can to benefit the most.
  4. the next couple of blocks north on main has street facing buildings and the only new biz is the Wheeler Watch shop who was forced out of their old location by METRO. all the other structures are empty. not sure who is CRAVING for street front properties because there are numerous that are abandoned .
  5. i rode on some of these then last yr. i know the trail i was on stopped at jensen in a fenced in area with a locked gate. i guess the trails were almost a given. it is the associated landscaping/lighting/development that i considered BB river walk. the area under 59 is interesting in an isolated way.
  6. concur! since new retail of this size is basically dead, this is better than what has been happening.
  7. Sha Nay Nay. LOL don't forget starkeisha and appreciante'. the locals i know are irritated about the male hustling, which i was oblivious to until i was given the grand tour. it's the enforcement of minor crimes (or lack thereof) that determine citizens' attitudes about HPD.
  8. which is similar to the one downtown across from main street square.
  9. midtown and downtown are probably the best candidates. with the male hustling on the east side of midtown it is hard to figure out who's whom.
  10. this is unreasonable. there are quite a few schools that are too distant to be served by METRO.
  11. in theory it could work, however METRO's current designs aren't express type trains rather they are more bus replacements to maximize ridership. the current IAH express bus from downtown would easily beat it by 30-45 mins. the last plan i saw regarding an IAH connection had it stop at greenspoint and you had to hop on a bus for the last leg which is bad.
  12. pressure is one thing but asking for apartments above becomes ridiculous. if CVS is fairly successful, it can only help for future retail in the area.
  13. very few people walk on main in that area. that's another reason why the HCC storefronts are empty.
  14. it wouldn't be hard but to maintain two entrances for a drug store in that location would be a nightmare. from the article the main street side will be glass While CVS added landscaping and glass storefronts to the building's Main Street side, it rejected Midtown's proposals to orient the front of the building to Main Street and bring the building up to the sidewalk.
  15. remember this is a long term plan and is mainly landscaping/trail development. any structures that might be built are not affected by rising waters. look at the area behind the wortham for instance. when waters rise, only big thing that happens is dirt is deposited in the amphitheater area which only requires a cleaning vs any restoration. it will be interesting to see if the plan on the east side is done in our lifetimes or is even done at all.
  16. ^ ^ i'm sure we'll see you on isiah carey's blog anyday now.
  17. that's the point. the county supposedly isn't doing any financing.
  18. i don't think anyone's really "tried". so far it's really been more talk by the county. they are so cash strapped with stadia right now that coming to the taxpayers and asking for MORE money isn't going to go over well. doing it from the private sector gets everyone's heads turning.
