Great find Lockmat! I think more people will ride it if its underground in this area. They could get done shopping and not have to worry about waiting on the train in the rain or heat or cold.

I have been seeing this building for years now, and I always thought it was an abandon building that never completed construction. I wonder what took so long? Here is a link: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpp/news/local/091104_fbi_robert_mueller

I can't believe that Fox Sports Grill closed! And no one mentioned it. -
There should be many more shows taped in Houston from now on since the State passed that filming incentive a few months ago.

They have been showing this race a lot on CNN. every time they say Houston, they add Texas to the end. Like if you don't no one will know where it is.

BRT for Houston... a better solution than rail?
citykid09 replied to totheskies's topic in Traffic and Transportation
I would rather see 2 good lines (as in grade separate/subway/heavy rail), one going north and south and one going east and west than what is being built now. This way there is a permanent fixture for infrastructure to grow densely around in the future. I think grade separate BRT would be good for the other needed lines that way they can be converted in the future to heavy rail when needed. What is being constructed now is nothing more than large street car.l The north/south line could start at Intercontinental Airport and extend all the way to Hobby Airport. -
BRT for Houston... a better solution than rail?
citykid09 replied to totheskies's topic in Traffic and Transportation
Since you put it that way I would agree with you. If the BRT was to have its own right of way, weather it be elevated or on unused land, I think that would be a much better option for now and then convert it to LRT in place of. I agree that what is being built is as cheap as you can get with rail because its completely non grade separate. -
BRT for Houston... a better solution than rail?
citykid09 replied to totheskies's topic in Traffic and Transportation
I agree, BRT should not replace LRT in Houston. BRT should be used in addition I think though. It would be good to see BRT running down Hwy 6 through 1960. Or somewhere like the Westchase district. I don't understand why you would want to deprive the 4th largest in America of any type of inner city rail transit. Its already getting short handed with a street level system. Let it be! -

All aboard for commuter rail http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/editorial/outlook/6672981.html Why does this topic come up every few years, but nothing ever gets done or comes from it?
-
Yeah, the guy in the video knows what he is talking about. I don't know if its in part one or in one of the other parts, but he also talks about how Dallas kept their 1 cent tax that helped build their system and Houston didn't. Imaging if Houstonians back then felt the same way about rail transit as they do now. Houston could have had a full service heavy rail system like a city its size should have. All we can do now is hope that that would be the next step after light rail and commuter rail. What else could come next if it isn't a heavy (non commuter) rail?
-
By the way, its hosted by former KTRK reporter Laura Whitley. There are multiple parts. I have posted part 1 below:

I noticed as well! What happened? I hope its not permanent, maybe its botox

I don't remember it being brown, but I remember it being a Radio Grill. But before that it was like a Wal-Mart brand restaurant that had nachos and hotdogs and stuff. I remember they had kids meals there too with toys. Or maybe Im thinking about the Wal-Mart in Manor East Mall.

So is that a permanent spot for the pharmacy? What about that Subway? Will that be removed? Will there be a McDonalds like all other Super Centers? And what about the ceiling? Its shorter than other Super Centers, I wonder if that will change? And the over all interior of the inside of the store will it all get upgraded? New floors shelves, etc? It all looks so retro fitted now.

Business Openings Around College Station
citykid09 replied to keyser's topic in Bryan-College Station
I didn't either, it seemed kind of trashy to me. Are all of them like that? -
What a dumb statement! He just lost a lot of votes.

I think Mr. Gatti's used to be where I-Hop is in College Station? Am I right? Then it moved to Bryan in a spot that used to be a skating rink, then to College Station again in the old Texas Ave HEB. (just thought that would be a restaurant not a store) There used to be a Checkers Burgers near where the College Station Golds Gym is but further up on that lot to Texas Ave I think. (also a restaurant) Downtown Bryan used to have a Woolworth store.

Best Places to Launch: Houston is a Gulf Coast Dynamo By Megan Erickson On 10:41 am EDT, Tuesday October 13, 2009 For Bryan Caswell, co-owner and chef at Houston's trendy Reef restaurant, the best thing about the Bayou City is the freedom to leave. The Houston native spent nine years perfecting his culinary skills in Bangkok, Barcelona, Hong Kong and Manhattan before opening a well-reviewed seafood eatery in his hometown. He now devotes two or three weekends a month to fishing on the Gulf Coast. The rest of the article: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Best-Places-to-Launch-Houston-hfsb-3792077343.html?x=0&.v=1 Good article! Except when it talks about the rednecks. LOL! "We still have a lot of peanut-shell redneck people rolling around here, but that is losing hold," Caswell says.
