  1. Yeah, but the Peirce Elevated service a purpose. I agree, it seems out of place and it would improve the area if it was gone, but it have to be replaced somewhere. I think tunneling it would be best, or at least submerge it with street level streets crossing over it.
  2. I like it all! I agree with everything! Where would the Peirce Elevated go? Underground?
  3. To me it always seems as if cities like New York, Chicago, Miami, etc are putting out way more development than Houston and their economies are not doing as well as Houston's. And this past year and even now on all the positive city ranking list Houston is usually #1. Fastest growing, best place to find a job etc, but it seems that the substantial development that comes along with it is still going to the other cities and not Houston. Maybe it just seems that way, but when will it be Houston's turn to develop like its no tomorrow like all the other cities did in the past few years and Houston sat pretty much dormant? It was just about to happen right before the bust. Just Houston's luck!
  4. Cool! A little off topic, but I just noticed that "DJ V Lawrence" is missing. Anyone know what happened?
  5. I agree 100% with everything you said! The Hobby Airport Area looks like your in a 3rd World country.
  6. I have become a little optimistic lately, I think you will start to hear more announcements or proposals for not just skyscrapers, but mixed use developments as well by this summer hopefully!
  7. Well the question was asked and I answered. Montrose and the Rice have somewhat of what I was talking about, but not the to the fullest. The Rice Village Area is really just a shopping center that looks semi-urban. And Montrose has the right idea, but the area doesn't mesh well (sidewalks no good, etc). I talking more of a place where people live work and play and you can really feel that people live their and not just driving through in a car. West Ave has the right idea, but it should be like 10 times as big! That is just my opinion Simbha asked and I answered. You don't have to agree.
  8. Thanks for backing me up! Why would I just make something up about the Chinese? Its the truth!
  9. If there was a place where you could go and feel the sense of a city. Where people walked around on a daily bases like in other cities. The closes thing I can think of to Houston having that type of atmosphere is in the Galleria. Downtown tries but I don't know its kind of hard to explain.
  10. I would bet that its just a copy. The chinese like to copy things. Its excepted in their culture.
  11. I was told that it would be the 2nd or third largest Walmart in the world or the United States, and the largest in Texas. I was their a little while ago and it looks pretty big , but not big enough to be one of the biggest. But we will see. And is it just me or does the smell at that Subway make you sick?
  12. I believe that is what will happen. I can see signs that the economy is improving. Last year we pretty much didn't hear of any new developments, but we are slowly starting to see new developments come about. So now is the best time for developers to thing about the future. I think thats the perfect spot for a major urban mixed use development in the Galleria area.
  13. The Stanford Financial Building in the Galleria Area is For Sale! What Should Replace it? http://swamplot.com/westheimer-office-building-and-all-allen-stanford-says-sell/2010-01-29/#more-15542 Would be a nice spot for a mixed use development.
  14. 5 crews from the south, 2 from Houston 3 from Atlanta. And During today's regionals the 2 Houston teams lost to the 3 Atlanta teams. So no Houston this year on America's Best Dance Crews.
  15. I'm watching America's Best Dance Crew AKA ABDC on MTV and in the intro to the new season (season 5) a dance crew is on top of one of the old Enron skyscrapers dancing. This show always has Houston represented. Many seasons like the current one is a competition between the North, South, East, and West. Houston usually always represents the South, but this year if you look at the stage they have Houston and Atlanta written into the stage for the South.
  16. Close to campus, but I don't think that's a good location. And the other week on the news they said they haven't chosen a location. I wonder where the 2 new Carl's Jrs are going?
  17. I suggested a Dynamo stadium in the Galleria Area a while back and the folks on here basically responded with that's a stupid idea. I guess I did have a good idea.
  18. I saw this on the city of Bryan planning website a few weeks ago. I wonder what businesses will go in there. They said only upscale places would be allowed, I wonder if that includes Panara Bread since they announced they were coming to town, College Station residents would have a heart attack. LOL! Is Panara Bread even considered upscale? What could we possibly be getting thats upscale with this development that would come to an area with about a quarter million people in it? Any Ideas?
  19. Ok, I get it. But you must know that the reason that I prefer the Houston stations is because of quality. Our stations here are not very good. Pretty much all are split into "fake" channels for the B/CS market from the Waco market. Like our KMAY 23 is really KCEN 9 out of the Waco/Temple/Killen market. abc40 is really abc25 Waco and goes blank all the time. So its not that I would prefer Houston channels because its Houston, its the quality. The news would surley be more interesting though.
  20. Here in Bryan/College Station we get KUHT on cable as well as our own PBS, KAMU (from Texas A&M). Also I thought KUHT produced some national shows. I know in the past they have had national TV specials. Also the Carrabas had a show Mary Lues Flip Flop Shop, several cooking shows. But no where on the level of what WGBH in Boston produces.
  21. Wow! What about in Bryan/College Station? Editor I also want to ask will the Bryan/College Station Area ever be able to pick up Houston's NBC, CBS, Fox? We get Parts of ABC in addition to our own, and up into about 10 years ago we got Houston's WB (now CW). (We also get PBS Houston in addition to our own and FOX Sports Houston). But I wanted to know will it come to a point where we could get the local Houston Channels?
  22. I thought it was for when one of the homies died you hang their shoes over the power lines.
  23. Yeah thats the commercial. I saw it like 3 times yesterday so I did a search on rice university and the brick looks different. And a closer look shows differences. Rice University
  24. I just saw it again on MTV, I'm sure its Rice.
