  1. Looks like Boliver, and Crystal beach were destroyed outright. Also, Crystal beach suffered 6 feet of beach erosion.
  2. There are a number of stations open on South Mason as of 2:00pm.
  3. "Paul's dead, I burried Paul"... You old folks should get that one.
  4. Funny that you mention the "mom & pop shops", I was just thinking how devastating this must be for them. I wonder if it will change the culture of the island since the chance is, that many didn't carry proper insurance, and can't afford to rebuild. Niche, i hope your folks are ok.
  5. Thought I would start up some discussion on what affect Hurricane Ike will have on Galveston in the coming months, and even years. I'll start with the devastating loss of The Balinese Room... This was in my opinion the coolest and most unique venue in the country, and can never be replaced. How do you guys think this will affect the natives, and those of us that love Galveston and her history?
  6. We've got power in Katy. And, God bless Galveston, especially The Ballinese. It's always shared a place in my heart, and I'm sick to my stomache that it's gone. Quite possibly the most unique club in the States.
  7. Freakin cool!! I'll have to check into that.
  8. To me it's unfortunate that the term "Liberal" is always associated with Democrats, although many Dems today do lean liberal. I say that because I don't dissagree with several things they've tried to accomplish over the last number of years. For instance, health care. health care is grossly overpriced, I just dissagree with the Dems on how to reform it. Edit: rediculous spelling.
  9. When was the last time any modern president left office with a smaller government.
  10. Come on Verti, you forgot Earth Wind and Fire. Sly and The Family Stone James Brown Super Booty confunkshun Tower of Power Average White Band Edit: Cool and The Gang. Although not super funk, they were still funk.
  11. To name a few... No late term Abortion, smaller government (yeah I know what Bush has done), drilling, no socialized health care (see tort reform).
  12. You wanna unload some of those "New Wave threads"? I'm starting a cover band with Steve Candelari of "The Octanes", and I need some new stage clothes.
  13. Most likely not to get photos of early 80's Westheimer on HAIF.... Vertigo
  14. Haven't been to that one. Is it as old as the Richmond location?
  15. Don't know about Katy, but I've always enjoyed Rajun Cajun on Richmond.
  16. Technically yes, but it's impossible to monitor in the public arena, and most publishing companies don't care anyway. However, Churches they do care about and they must pay an annual lump sum to various publishing companies ASCAP/BMI etc, in order to have the unlimited use of a particular artists song.
  17. LOL!!!! I've got a good shrink, if you need his number let me know.
  18. LOL!!! I was going to post the same thing. When exiting to Willowbend from Main, I now turn right on Stella Link and make a quick u-turn to continue down Willowbend.
  19. Ain't that the truth. It surprizes me how little the listening public understands the role of a producer in writing and arangement. Much of what you hear on decent studio albums is because of a good producer. They can make a crappy band sound great , thus the reason many sound uninspiring on stage, especially today. Most of these bands today should thanks the gods of Pro Tools (NLE editing).
  20. Amazing stuff guys... I learned something today.
  21. although he can get me started from time to time, my intuition tells me that Red is probably a pretty nice guy in person. As far as quality of posts, I couldn't dissagree more. Red has been a big contributer to HAIF since I've been here.
