  1. Sour grapes Red, sour grapes. Don't know how I missed this one. Ouch, point driven into the gut of 713 to 214. >
  2. The cliche "defense wins championships" is a cliche for a reason. The Texans are going to build there defense around Mario, just like New Orleans will build there offense around Bush. Also to make such a matter of fact statement like " Houston is the laughing stock of the football world right now because of there draft day mistake" is goofy at best. How can it be a mistake when none of these guys have set foot on the field? Trading Bush away for draft picks may make sense in another draft but it doesn't make sense when you have a monster like this guy available. How would you have felt if the cowboys chose Barry Sanders instead of Too Tall Jones? Different eras I know, but the point is that defense wins, period. And as in Houston fashion.... We don't give a ____ what the rest of the country thinks, especially the ESPN know it all's. My bad Red, I misread your post. Also, love the UT fans paragraph. Your soooooooo right.
  3. Geeez, talk about destroying your credibility quick. Rockets: 4 championship appearances- 2 championships. Astro's" 9 playoff appearances-1 World Series birth. Comets: 4 championships in a row. Oiler's: 3 consecutive and 7 consecutive playoff appearances, and a marketing machine (Luv Ya Blue) that was unsurpassed. Also a 1961 championship trophy with George Blanda. Texans: Beat the Cowboys in there first recorded game. The reason I mention this is that the team (Texans) played with such heart, Houston has to considered a great football city. Also regarding your post, Houston fans have long been known for there volume during sporting events, ie the dome or Minute maid. You know the place that MLB made us take the roof off because the noise was so distracting. Houston is a great sports city that I've had the privilege to be a part of.
  4. First of all, Hakeem won 2 tiltles last time I checked, and did it with mainly CBA'ers. Not to bad in my book. Secondly, as someone who played football from elementary through college, I can tell you that this is not a bad pick. My reasoning... The Texans were last in the NFL in defense last year, while there running game on offense was very respectable. Bring in Kubiac who arguably is one of the best run coaches in years, and the fact that in Denver, Kubiac had consistantly put out great running attacks regardless of who he handed the ball to. Mario is a major horse, so let's sit back and see how the W's start stacking up.
  5. Aside from New York, Houston doesn't have another city close to it's 23. Also interesting that Texas has 2 cities in the top 5.
  6. Or the town with the 3rd most stupid people. It's a win win situation either way you look at it.
  7. Oh geeez, you had to bring up Valhalla's. I've spent a few evenings blindly walking around the campus after drinking to many of those cheap beers. Really cool for a cheap night.
  8. Favorite bar: Gingerman Favorite pizza: Star Pizza Favorite drive: Memorial from Downtown to Uptown.
  9. This could be great if the proposal comes to fruition. With a little more high and midrise development in the area, it would just about tie into downtown.
  10. Does anyone know if they are going to build out the Southwest side of the mall (behind Olive Garden)? They've had a vinyl facade up for a while and I'm sure they are not planning on that being permanent.
  11. I just signed on with photobucket. Seems to work pretty well.
  12. As everyone said, Star is excellent. I also love Candellaries. I used to hang out at the Continental Club on Wednesdays and they would always have Candelaries pizza. It was excellent. Of course maybe it was because I was starving after a night of several cocktails
  13. How true! As I was driving down Kirby the other day I thought, "There is nowhere to expand roads, how can the existing road infrastructure handle the density that is obviously coming to this area"?
  14. Guys, forgive my violent attitude, but if I have to deal with anymore of this politically correct crap, I'm gunna start swinging. This is an example of catering to the few instead of the majority. Virtually every person I've talked with about this stupid, stupid decision, either laughs, or shakes there head in disgust. And no, I'm not talking about just white Dems or Reps. This issue is a microcosim of the contiued growth of the politically correct cowards catering to the select few. Someone please stop the insanity!
  15. Good news! I've visited on several occasions ands the place was an embarrasement.
  16. "Back up to the Hy-San and straddle the fixture" and "Assume a squatting position" What the hell, this sounds like a sex ed class in Northridge California
  17. I know your kidding but I don't think it's such a bad idea.
  18. Theres also an IHOP near the Medical Center on Holcomb. Damn good eggs and coffee after an evening on the town.
  19. That's the thing, I can't remember his name. If you ever stop in on a Friday look for the guy with long brown hair (me) and say hey.
  20. Yeah I'm there all the time, well at least most Fridays. Oh and I love this line, ""It is sooooooo dark in that Gingerman, or maybe it seemed that way because my eyes stay about half closed when I am getting my drink on". It is actually pretty dark in there but I like to sit out in the beer garden anyway. It's pretty tranquil before the crowds start arriving. Did you happen to know the guy with the long grey hair that managed the place? I haven't thought about him in a while but he was such a nice guy. He used to bring us free spinach dip because we were there so much. Maybe I can ask Vonnie
  21. Thanks for the advice. Are you doing the weekend or afternoon thing? I've gotten to where I really enjoy Friday happy hour (before the crowd comes in).
