  1. I'm not sure why this building is referred to as the tallest of the two. It is clear driving up 45 this afternoon that Allison Tower (Tower 1) stands taller than Hackett Tower (new Tower 2). I mean it's not even close. If it's now officially topped out, then Hackett Tower is a solid second place. Anybody else agree?
  2. From the looks of those renderings, the building will be parallel to the freeway. Can't wait to see the finished project. Soon, you won't be able to tell where Houston ends and The Woodlands beings. Crazy amount of building going on up that way.
  3. This may not be tall but this is going to be a very iconic building on the north freeway as you enter The Woodlands. It's going to be huge....like laying the Anadarko Tower on it's side type big.
  4. I think the Enron Towers (Chevron) are sexy buildings. Not too outlandish but modern. I think a 3rd building of the same look would be a nice addition.
  5. I have was half way kidding. Everybody keeps talking about this rending and doing side nudges to one another while the rest of us are totally in the dark. I wanna see, too
  6. You forgot the 5 Oaks Building at 30-stories that is about to break ground as well as the 28-story Astoria. Not to mention the ones that are currently under constrctuion: 40-story State Grille Condo Tower 30-story Hanover Condo Tower 32-story Anadarko Tower 17 story Energy Plaza III 21-story Soveign
  7. In the rendering on Swamplot, clearly that is Downtown Atlanta in the background. Was this building proposed for that location or one like it?
  8. The bellweather of tornado outbreaks in Houston should probably be awarded to the November 21, 1992 outbreak when 13 tornadoes went through the Houston area---some were on the ground simulatniously. The strongest of these tornadoes was an F4 tornado (modern day EF5) destroyed Channelview. Old news footage of that event shows well built brick homes being totally removed from their foundations leaving behind nothing but a slab. Channel 11: Channel 13: More news coverage:
  9. Oh yeah! I totally overlooked it until I read your post. Pretty sweet.
  10. I WANT this tower. I NEED this tower...
  11. I was watching youtube clips last night of 747's landing at IAH and in one of the captions at the bottom of one of the videos, they mention that IAH will soon be getting United 747 service to NRT. Any truth to this?
  12. Cincinnati is a hole! Cinnci is a medium size airport with nobody in it. It's also old. All that fly in there now are regional jets with a few A319's and '37's servicing the airport. It's an older Delta hub that Delta has continued to downsize into more of a focus airport over the years in favor of Detroit and Minneapolis---both of which were big Northwest hubs before the Delta/NW merger. Speaking of Detroit, that is by far the best airport (terminal wise) I've ever been to followed Denver.
  13. So I was watching the national networks this afternoon in regards to the Terminal B shooting. I noticed immediately that a lot of the anchors on both Fox and CNN constantly were correcting themselves by saying ''George Bush Internation....errr...Intercontinental.'' Where did the name ''Intercontinental'' come from anyway? Anybody else think it's time to change the name to George Bush International Airport? It would seem to give more credence to the airport as a gateway. Not calling it an international airport seems to cheapen the great things that go on at that airport. On a side note, I took some GIS courses in college and noticed that as you zoomed in on Houston, IAH label would not appear on the map while others would. We came to the conclusion that the word ''International'' was given heavier weight to show up first at a greater kilometer resolution than ''Intercontinental.''
  14. So is there any building in existence today that remotely looks like the one planned for Houston? Can you share that pic?
  15. Question: What happens if a home owner just absolutely refuses to be bought out or doesn't move? Is this going on a vacant plot of land? I haven't heard any mention of immanent domain being used. Just curious.
  16. swtsig/large TEXAS: you guys continuously post criptic messages of this tower. Can either of you please describe or post a pic of a current building it'll resemble? I'm sure all of us on this site would be appreciative! Thanks in advance
  17. Yeah, that thing is hideous. It would totally ruin the skyline north facing view. It's scary just how close the buildings in the background look to the real thing.
  18. I think Terminal D needs attention next. As the gateway to the United States and Houston, it looks pretty tacky. I know they are going to do some renovations, but it needs to be totally redone. Would be nice to have a Terminal D that is big, open, full of natural light----something that says ''energy capitol of the world.''
  19. Bachanon! Thanks so much! Anadarko's building is more ''ho hum'' than I thought it would be. I guess I expected it to be ''broad shouldered'' like the first tower. This one looks frumpy compared to the first tower. Thoughts?
  20. Hmmm, the north facing view of the skyline is one of the best views. I hope they don't screw it up. What block is this supposed to be on? Edit: nevermind. I found it: Preston, Prarie, Milam, Travis
  21. Boounce, I'd say you do! Thanks a trillion! It's looking GOOD! Looks like anothe 10 floors or so to go.
