  1. Will interesting to see how the store turns out since most of their locations are only drive through.
  2. I don't necessarily have a problem with dollar tree, an affordable option is always nice. However, how in the hell are they able to afford rent for an entire city block in midtown?
  3. I hate this sooooooo much. The entire intersection became parking lots all while UK is trying to create a walkable street. CVS lot use to have a building up to the street and now this. The Oyster place legit only has 5 cars parked....I hope they run out of business and forced to sell.
  4. Yeah I've seen the posts, the Washington HEB is a nice mix-use. However, an apartment building will post likely create a better pedestrian realm, for example that HEB put the parking up to the curb and basically didn't create any pedestrian realm except make the sidewalks a little larger. That HEB only has 3 points of entry for a pedestrian, 2 of which are right along the car entrances, the rest is just bushes/ parked cars blocking pedestrians from getting to the sidewalks. I'm a little anal when it comes to this topic only because I feel like we're doing the bare minimum at improving walkability IMO
  5. IMO, I think an apartment building in that site would make more sense. There's already 2 HEBs within 1.5/1.1 miles each, a Target within 1 mile, a Trader Joes 0.6 miles, a Kroger 1.6 miles, and a Whole Foods right across the street. Not to mention, an apartment building will do more with streetscape than another grocery store.
  6. Great news! Hopefully they can also work to create a central train station instead of having each station at different locations.
  7. Residence inn usually look like the cookie cutter hotels :/ would prefer the land to stay empty in that case
  8. These are actually really common in urban cities like NYC and Chicago
  9. https://abc13.com/galleria-area-street-signs-uptown-houston-rings-silver-with-names-unique/13456594/ It now lights up at night! Looks really nice!
  10. Ah yes, the tropical blue waters of the San Antonio river 😂 Dude, seriously the water color is very common in big cities around the world (as shown in my above post). I always find it funny when people think the color of the bayou is absurd. It's like an instant tell that that person hasn't traveled much.
  11. The developments in Houston have been very abysmal honestly. Most major sites are being developed as either HUGE gas stations or strip centers with a sea of parking facing the street. The only thing Houston has really done is remove parking mandate in midtown and create market based parking in EADO, while the majority of Houston is left exactly the same.
  12. I hate it soo much :(, I know we technically need gas stations, but why do they have to be in such prime intersections and have 105 pumps?!
  13. This location will be a new C-store and a liquor store. A sign on the lot also indicates a gas station, however, that isn't on the permit. These gas stations popping up on every major block are legit killing me.
  14. Very red, but the good thing with brick is that the color will start to fade as it ages. So it will look better over time!
  15. 2101 Lexington St along with the garage out back is officially demolished. Couldn't get any pictures Really hope the site plan changed for this one. Looks like we're going dense to sprawl with this project :/
  16. The site plan doesn't make sense, are they planning on demolishing half the building for parking?
  17. Its for marketing, theres the same exact sign in front of a shopping center in front of my neighborhood.
  18. Jeez, why is the Houston Planning Commission being this aggressive with the parking when the parking mandates are eventually going to be lessened according to them???
